Well… This is the first review after a long, long pause in this department! We’ve heard so much about this place for a long time, from our friends and some websites online. One special thing, and the very specific thing that our friends have been boasting about is the sushi boat. Yes, you read right. While having sushi delivered on bands is pretty popular and is considered normal, here in Stockholm you don’t find many places like that. So imagine how excited I was when I came there and saw the table that looked like a boat, surrounded by individual chairs and inside the boat was a «river» where sushi-filled boats float around. So there we were, we had bought a coupon online to get 30 pieces of sushi for approximately half the price we would’ve paid otherwise. When we came in, no one was there, but that’s because we came at a really odd time, 5 pm. As other people start leaving work for dinner, we sit there enjoying the boats to ourselves. The sushi chef made everything fresh for us. We got the normal maki sushi, the salmon nigiri, shrimp and tuna. After a couple of the extraordinary, ordinary sushi bites, she asked whether we’d like to try anything so we told her to give us her best shot. Out flowing were bites of sushi with octopus, followed by scallop and the Californian roll. Everything looked so delicate and put together. I ordered the green tea together with the sushi and it was wonderful. It was served in a heavy tea pot and I kept pouring the tea into my cup during the course of the meal but by the end of it I still had some left that I couldn’t possibly finish. In the end, my fiancé and I left the restaurant very full, almost rolling as we cruised down the street, and very happy for the service and for all the excellent food. I’d come back here even though I didn’t have a a coupon for the sushi.

Perhaps not the most inspired Asian restaurant(a very common theme in Stockholm), Kin-Maru still has a couple dishes that make it so we really hope they stick around! For one, my wife just can’t get enough of the mango salmon sushi. It may sound a little odd, but it’s amazing. You can get either rolls or sashimi-style. It’s not a true sashimi, as the salmon is slightly grilled, but that doesn’t stop it from being delicious. They are also one of the very few Asian restaurants to do a respectable ramen. The flavors aren’t exactly spot on(for any ramen aficionados), but it’s still very delicious and wonderfully hardy. Perfect for winter! And last, but not least, we were quite surprised at the flavors of some of their side dishes like the salads and dumpling. Pleasantly surprised by the chicken dumplings, which had a healthy amount a ginger(a personal favorite). Again, not necessarily amazingly authentic, but seriously tasty. We really hope to see this restaurant stick around — we will be back often!
