Had heard so many good things about Djuret and our expectations were set high! Unfortunately our expectations were not met. Main reason: the meat was only hero of the dish once! The first course, venison tartar with lingonberries and mushroom was amazing, but on the next four meat dishes there was too much going on on the plate. The meat was almost hidden and I forgot what I was there eating. The last course was an amazing dessert, well balanced flavors and ingredients were there for a reason. Unfortunately only two dishes hit that mark. Service, as always impeccable at this group of restaurants!

Great restaurant concept — pick one animal and make it into multiple dishes for a prix fixe menu. I had the lamb with 6 dishes. There were some hits and some misses. The best was probably the finishing courses of the sirloin which was perfectly cooked. Another winner was the sweatbread dish. The worst was probably the terrine which had some pretty sizable chunks of fat that overpowered the whole dish. Service was great. The setting is a little bit stuffy but at the same time it’s playful so if you’re looking for a place with some charm and not modern, it has a nice setting. I’d come back to try a new animal but probably wouldn’t go back for the same animal ever.

Dim, candlelit environment, with plenty of unrushed time between courses. The six courses through different preparations of meat was an adventure. Artistic and high class yet certainly not skimpy on portions nor on hearty flavour. A favourite.

After many recommendations we finally made our way to Djuret. For any non-Swedish speakers, «djuret» means«the animal», and that’s the most basic description of this restaurant’s theme. The menu is seasonal, changing every few weeks(except during the summer) and generally consists of just one animal(sometimes two). The chef then takes the animal of the month, and presents a variety of dishes, often tradition, but usually with some flair. Something we generally really enjoy if done right. Luckily Djuret did not disappoint. We went to celebrate a birthday, and the dishes were elk and wild boar. We had one dish of each, as well as a really delicious«pulled pork» starter. Both of our main dishes had a great balance of flavors and satisfying(not huge), portions. Personally, I’ve had better cuts of elk, but I have no real complaints about Djuret’s. We decided to close with a bread pudding(a favorite dessert), but were a little disappointed. It was more of a bread pudding interpretation as opposed to a traditional bread pudding. Overall, definitely recommended for quality, atmosphere and novelty for a special night or just a nice meal out. Oh, and I think the bread was possibly made with a light lard — it had a buttery almost popcorn-like aroma which made it really tasty! And almost everyone enjoys a tasty bread!

I’ve been here 2 times and the quality is very uneven, the service is pretty slow. Some of the dishes are great and others not special at all. Since the prices are rather high its an unimpressive place.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Stockholm. They have a fairly unique concept with all dishes on the menu from one animal. The name of the restaurant ‘Djuret’ actually mean ‘the animal’ in Swedish. They change animals every 2 – 3 weeks which makes it worth to visit often. They also match the wine to the dishes, great wine almost always. They also have good selection of beer, it is one of the few places outside Denmark where it is possible to get my favorite beer, the pale ale from Olfabrikken. The service has always been good and they are knowledgeable. Like the décor as well, a lot of it is ‘meat’ inspired.
