This is so far my favorite restaurant to dine in while in Stockholm. The food is excellent and there is a wide array of choices and the desserts are wonderful.

Un sitio estupendo: jardín agradable con fiebre y salón amplio con mesas amplias con velas y flores. Platos ricos y abundantes a precio razonable y dulces exquisitos. Solo un pero: los baños, viejos y no muy limpios.

After a very busy morning cycling around Djurgarden and roaming Skansen, it was definitely time for a spot of lunch and the Blue Door had been strongly recommended as the ideal place. I couldn’t have been happier with the suggestion — the place is idyllic — peaceful, open air gardens with dozens of tables and seat, with water features and plants to add to a wonderful ambience. As I arrived, I asked if there was table service and was told yes, but after a few minutes of being sat at my table watching as other patrons came and went with trays, it became obvious that something had been lost in translation. So, I took my place in the queue and considered my options. I’d already had meatballs elsewhere, so I decided to try something new — the Salmon Pâté and potatoes. The ordering process was brisk and efficient — almost within a minute of my order, the plate came through from the kitchen and I was back to my original table with a restorative beer to accompany the splendid looking dish. I was a little hesitant at first, but on first bite, all reservations disappeared — it was a gorgeous dish, smooth and tasty, perfectly accompanied by the topping and the potatoes. The quality of the dish was beyond expectations in a place like this, sandwiched between hugely popular tourist attractions, where you might have expected lower standards. Have no fear of that — this is an excellent spot for lunch, on every level. On a sunny day, it would have been very easy to stay here for a good couple of hours, just soaking up the atmosphere and the relaxing vibe. Wonderful — I will return, without doubt. £13.50 for the main dish plus a beer.

This place has a very odd entrance at no. 64 but you shouldn’t pass it by. The food is simple Swedish standards. I had the boiled salmon and French potato salad. It was very good. Not haute cuisine but overall excellent and a very good value. If you are looking for a reliable lunch spot-this is it. Note the food is served cafeteria style from the counter at the back of the garden. It may look confusing at first but just look for the line.

Convenient 4 me as we stayed next door at the brand new MELODY Hotel, next 2 the also brand new ABBAMUSEUM! Another UnilocalER covered all the right info. Über casual, order @ cashier & wait. Chalkboard has all the specials(Dagen’s) 4 the day.(Same all summer) Paper menu underneath has English translation. QUICHESHOULDNEVERBEMICROWAVED-THEIRSWAS :-((…The Latte was perfect. The desserts were fun with complimentary whipped cream(Self service!) the tomato soup was the best EVER!!! Beautiful outside garden, when the weather is nice. HUGE Dining area, very nice setting. Good prices considering we are in Sweden! Very nice. Boiled salmon was overlooked 4 me, freshly cooked tho. Ate here 2x’s over a 3 day period

«Do you speak English?» –Yes. «Do you have fish soup?» — No. We have tomato. «How about an open-face prawn sandwich?» –We don’t have fish. «What about shrimp?» –We don’t have fish. «Okay, but do you have rakor(prawn)?» –Yes. But it is a salad. Wait here for it. Nice outdoor café. Decent salad. Pro tip: shut up and point at the menu.

Oh, is this place lovely. So cute and cozy inside, with a nice view from the dark-wood banquet room onto the lush green courtyard — the garden surrounded by a portico reminded me of cloister architecture(but that’s the art historian speaking). In any case, beautiful. The staff is all smiles and, as seemingly everywhere in Stockholm, speaks brilliant English. Cakes and sweets of at least a dozen sorts confront the hungry customer making his way to the counter(counter service is a big plus in my book). Placing the treats at the front of the food line is, let’s face it, a fantastic idea; «life is uncertain, eat dessert first!»(Is this standard in Sweden? The Vasa Museum café does the same.) So your options for fika — cake-and-coffee hour, TWICE a day: evidence of Swedish genius — are laid before you. But so is a luscious if less tangible array of entrees, listed in Swedish on the blackboard menu and in English on a printout. Ranging from 90 – 155 kroner, these are totally standard dinner prices and slightly expensive lunch prices(same menu goes for both meals) — but for the quality, the price is UNBEATABLE. As mentioned and photographed by Wendy, the fish stew with saffron and dill aioli, a garlic crostino on the side, was truly divine — and such a generous portion as to stand alone for dinner, further easing the ~150 kr. pricetag. On my second visit, lunchtime, I went informal and grabbed a sanwich and slice of lemon mousse tart from the fika buffet table. Total cost was 97 kr., water is free, adorable setting is priceless; I defy you to find a better lunch in this city for such a price! In short, if you are visiting Skansen, the Vasa Museum, the Nordiska Museum, or the aquarium, make Blå Porta your place for a quick lunch or a well-earned candlelit dinner. Smaklig måltid!

— located next to the leisure park Skansen — big courtyard; very crouded and noisy — serving local food with some mediterranean flair: e.g. lamb kötbullar(142SEK) but also a big cake buffet — salad with chicken was okay but nothing special Conclusion: This place is okay to have some lunch and the cake buffet looks really good!

Blå Porten was recommended to us by locals, over another highly rated restaurant near Vasa Museum we had picked out for lunch. Technically it is the cafeteria of an art museum, but you don’t need to enter the museum to dine here. Very casual, self-service, you pick up a tray and help yourself with breads, sandwiches, desserts and then go up to the cashier to order hot foods and pay. Every hot dish is freshly made; someone will bring it to your table. Very very good food, traditional Swedish. The fish soup is one of the best I can remember having; picture speaks a thousand words so have a look. Also had a shrimp salad even though it was not on the menu, the staff happily offered to make one for us, now that’s good service. Swedish menu only. If you need help, just about every staff speaks fluent English. Really glad that we gave this place a try.

This is a large, airy, casual café, with a beautiful central courtyard. You place an order for a hot meal with the waitstaff, and can also chose from several pre-made cold sandwiches, and many beautiful sweets. They have beer and wine available in coolers, and/or strong coffee and espresso drinks. The entrée menu is limited to a dozen items, but each is made freshly and is piping hot. I found no vegetarian hot entrees, however, and therefore had a cold cheese sandwich, which was fairly boring. It was also a challenge to read the menu in Swedish, it would be courteous to provide this in English also.
