Awesome pub. Very old building. Great beer and atmosphere. Food is pretty good. I take folks in here to show them something different.

Friendly staff, fast service, not a lot of choice in tap beers but good atmosphere and cheap prices!

Avoid avoid really awful pub. Its Banks’s and Marstons beers not very well kept. Food not good typical chain food at lower end of scale. Nice interior though.

Great old school uk pub. Very friendly staff and excellent guinness. I didn’t eat here but the food looked pretty good too!

7 cask ales on from Marstons, Jennings, Banks, Hobgoblin. Well kept & served. Friendly service & nice vibe to the place. Mixed clientele across wide age range. Seems easy going live & let live. Standard pub grub e.g. chilli, bangers, lasagne, curry, burgers.

York is rather spoiled for decent old pubs, but the Three Tuns is a good bet, with a wide range of real ales and traditional pub grub. Established in 1782, the exterior looks its age, with mis-matching gables and windows and a slightly unhealthy looking lean. The interior is what you’d expect — wooden floors, low beams, and a cosy feel. Expect a choice of up to half a dozen real ales, with food served daily, 11.30−19.00. We tried the Macaroni Cheese — a little pricey at just over £7, but there was plenty of it, and it came with a small sald and two pieces of garlic bread — perfect comfort food for a cold day to eat with a pint(or two). Also, it’s almost next door to the Jorvik Centre if you’re on the tourist trail.

Visited this pub on my Saturday night out in York during a long pub crawl. I found it to be a lot quieter than some of the other pubs I’d been in. It had a more relaxed and gentle atmosphere. They had a good range of ales including a cheeky little number called the Cross Buttocks ale. The bar staff were friendly. They had good music playing, but not too loud that conversations couldn’t be had. Toilets were clean. Age range seemed to be from about mid 20’s to late 50’s. Found it a bit to be a bit of fresh air compared to some of the louder pubs we’d been that night. Would certainly recommend. They welcome live too and are currently looking at setting up a jam night and are asking for musicians.
