Traditional pub; decent service; good food(mostly just pies and mash, but they have good fries too). My favorite pie is the deer and beer and chili, but the matador is good too. We’ve had a number of their pies and never been disappointed. Nice selection of beers and ciders and they always rotate through different craft ales and ciders. They always have orchard pig cider on tap. You can bring kids here… though may be best to avoid quiz night or just come early.

Easy to miss from the outside, it’s an interesting and charismatic little pub. Wego there after work, for a PIE& a PINT @ the Plough. You can even watch sport on their pull down projector screen. The Pies are really good and its great to have such a variety of Cider — Janet’s Jungle Juice is a winner!

This used to be a dark, low ceilinged beach shack of a pub named Harpoon Louis with a reputation for good seafood, and it was a shame to lose a pub of such character a while back. Thankfully ‘The Plough’, whilst reversing both the décor polarity and the bar approach(you now run the smokers gauntlet), has managed to keep the funky vibe going; plenty of hat wearing action possible. 7+ ciders available, right from your bland overmarketed ‘irish’ ciders to real guzzler’s treats like Weston’s Old Rosie(7.2%) in the time it takes to fall off your bar stool. A random house special is Tractor fuel — half cider, half ginger beer — all pokey. Andy does a cracking selection of £6 pies with a couple of choices for vegetarians too. Nice and leftfield.
