After a 30 year gap i returned here and was not disappointed. Friendly service and tasty food did not disappoint. I had the feeling that the manager cared, which makes a huge difference even to little things like clean coffee pots and a fresh-looking chutney tree etc. My only niggle worth mentioning was the fact that I was overly thirsty after the meal. At least this is easily remedied: next time I’ll request that the chef adds less salt. It was a tasty meal and, fortunately, not swimming in excess oil. I’ll be back.

Despite the understated exterior, customers are embraced by the authentic setting provided by the charismatic Paramount Tandori upon entry. Whilst the seating plan generates something of a snug environment for customers to dine in, the small booths and dimmed lighting really create an atmosphere which encourages a sociable and enjoyable experience. Typically lively throughout it’s hours of trade, the Paramount provides a suitable setting for families, couples and small groups of friends. With the kitchen only metres away from the main seating area, the gorgeous smells of Indian Cuisine waft through air, inspiring large orders from the expansive menu provided. With customers’ cravings for their favorite Indian dishes heightened by the smells and warm atmosphere, it’s fortunate that the service is particularly efficient. As is common-place in most Tandorls, a selection of dips are provided to accompany the customary poppadoms during the short wait before the main dishes arrive. Once served, the Paramount provides good quality Curry, with side orders such as Naan bread and Onion Bhajis unsurprisingly available. A traditional style curry house, and renowned by many as Penarth’s finest. The Paramount also provides a take away service, with Customers frequently popping in to collect their orders throughout the evening.

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Penarth for food quality. However, many flaws prevent it from being a top class restaurant. When they get busy, it is hardly worth going to. The staff seem used to being quiet, so when it’s busy, they can’t cope. I have waited over two hours for my food here before, and even when it came, it was wrong and cold. On the other hand, on a normal night(not new years eve or christmas eve etc), it is my favourite restaurant by a long way.

Long established Bangladeshi restaurant close to Penarth railway station. Very loyal cliental, and best Indian food in Penarth by some distance. Paramount special Tandoori is the signature dish and well worth trying. Average price but markedly better than average food!

Walking into this place is like stepping back in time to the 90s. In fact, it hasn’t changed since I was a child and visited often(supervised!) as it was just around the corner from my first house. It’s got this really odd electric blue lighting which produces the feeling of being in some kind of lap dancing club but I like its retro look. I love that it hasn’t changed in over 10 years and the fact they still serve decent Indian food. What I love most is the fact that they still give you after 8 mints at the end of the meal. I visited recently and can confirm it wasn’t just nostalgia that had me coming back but the amazing Prawn Birinani.

Having lived in the Indian subcontinent for 10 years, this has to be one restaurant that comes close to the real thing.
