We are locals and often call into the Fort for a drink on a Saturday evening or a Sunday. We, today, decided to have lunch there. I was first in the queue to order our meals, fish and chips with«garden» peas and a pint of prawns from the specials board. Paid and sat back down. A few minutes later a very polite guy came and said that there were no more prawns available(although the people who were behind me were served with a baked potato with prawns!). I then asked for the tiger prawn meal from the specials, guess what SOLDOUT. So I then went for the mussels. Half an hour later our meals arrived fish and chips served with«mushy» peas not garden. The mussels were barely luke warm as were the chips. also five 5 mussels weren’t open, so of course I didn’t eat them. I only hope I’m not ill tomorrow. I know it’s the height of the season, but I was first in the ordering queue so the food should have been served fairly quickly and hot and to get garden peas mixed up with mushy peas was not good. We paid nearly £20 for two very sub-standard meals

A massive place that feels more like a restaurant than a pub. The view out over the sea is a fantastic one and the main reason for a visit! St Austell were offering their Trelawny and Tribute for our consumption! Good beers both.

Fantastic pub– cider is top notch, food is fantastic+ the views are something else. Get a seat by the windows+ enjoy brilliant views over the main surfing beach in Newquay town.

Absolutely love this place! Just came back from a long weekend in Newquay, so impressed after the first night eating at the Fort, that we dined there every night afterward. The meal at times was served so fast we thought it was witchcraft. It was beautifully presented and exactly what we wanted each and every time. Last but not least, the ice cream sundaes with the clotted cream topping are superb and delicious! All the drinks were excellent too, and the staff only too pleased to help! 5 Stars!

I’m sorry, but I have a real problem with this place. I will, however, try to start with the positives: It’s very family friendly; it has awesome views; a varied food menu; it’s huge! Plus, there are indoor and outdoor play areas for the kids. So why oh why do I always end up feeling so ripped off? Let’s start with the food — it’s ridiculously expensive, considering the quality. The cheapest burger is 8 quid and certainly no great shakes, and you can expect to pay almost a tenner for steak pie and chips. The kids area’s are ok, but there’s no shelter anywhere near the outdoor climbing frame, and no umbrella’s at the outdoor tables, so poor mums, dads and anyone else sitting outside is forced to melt, if it is one of those beautiful summer days when you just fancy a nice cold beverage! The indoor ball pool is better, but useless if you do want to sit outside, and you have to pay for it at the height of the season. The beer is average and, you guessed — overpriced. It’s so disappointing, because this place could be excellent, and a well needed resource in a town like Newquay. They’ll always do okay, as they have a captive market. I just wish I didn’t feel it was like a cattle market.

Large pub, sells real ale. The garden has great views over the old harbour. The garden also has seagull netting, but some must get through as there is a notice on the wall stating: ‘SEAGULLSAREWATCHING, DONOTLEAVEFOODUNATTENDED.’

Excellent food with a great view from the window tables or from the outside, the atmosphere in the pub is brilliant and the staff are allways friendly, i cannot fault there customer service. Food waiting times can get a bit long but thats not surprising with its reputation of good food and how busy the place can get. The resturant has fun little touches as well like the cutlery and napkins coming in a traditional sandcastle bucket, the entryway plays hosts to some vintages items such as posters from years gone by etc. I cannot fault this place, we allways make sure we visit at least once when were down this end of the country

This has lovely food — very rasonable and worth a try. The restaurant itself is located upstairs and has a huge good menu. There are comfy armchairs to relax into before and after dinner. The atmosphere is relaxing and very warm. especially on a cold evening. Very oldy worldy. Lovely food.

The fort inn is on the way out of the town centre and id a family orinated pub with beer agrden and views over the harbour and bay. we visited this pub in summer 2008, although this is a busy popular pub its worth the wait for food. The menu offers some of the obvious pub meals, with baguettes and chidrens meals. There are play areas inside and outside, in the good weather there is an outdoor bbq. If you choose to sit outside please beware of seaguls!!! it is very family friendly with good clean toilets, and changing areas.

We always visit this pub when on holiday in Newquay. It is a great family pub overlooking the harbour and is great for sitting in the beer garden watching the world go by. It is located just out of the main town centre near the main surf shops(NSC etc). The food has always been ok when we have eaten and is pretty much what you would expect from a family pub. They have a large outdoor area full of tables so it is great to sit outside and eat on a sunny day. There is also a decent outdoor play area so the kids can go off and play while the adults take in the beautiful scenery. The pub inside is large and well set out. They have an indoor play area too but as our children are too old for it, I can’t say how good this is. A very nice pub, well worth a visit on a sunny day in Newquay.
