I called in Amigo’s after 2 relatively pleasant experiences here, and was hoping this would continue, however it didn’t. With my past 2 experiences, being nothing above average, I was slightly expecting a worse experience to happen, and unfortunately it did, to the point where I feel a demotion to 1 stars is needed. The staff here do seem nice, however they never seem to take my «gluten free» comments as serious, although I have never been«glutened» by here, they still don’t seem to take care, and pass messages on to the kitchen staff. I find the drink selection here a little lacking, as I find the coffee’s simply not to be very nice and they is probably a good few number of places, such as Costa in Middleton who could produce a much higher quality, and even some of the tea’s are poor, with Twynings stocked but some rather tasteless flavours, which might originally sound like it would make a nice drink. The main reason for the demotion to 1 star is the food /waiter service experience from my recent visit, it seemed a young boy, no younger than 19 served my phone, he didn’t seem to be polite, he just seemed like he wasn’t happy working there, and was probably forced by family, which wasn’t very nice. My food its-self was also quite poor, with the worst part being the scrambled egg. As scrambled egg is one of my favourite types of egg(especially when it is cooked by the chef at Hilton Green Park!), I expected nothing to go wrong on this side, however it did. The eggs didn’t seem to be cooked fully, as you could taste and see the egg white, and it wasn’t very nice, and it was simply not cooked properly, and I just couldn’t eat it, not only for how it tasted, but the fact that it would have made me ill, have I had done. The poached egg was probably one of the nicer parts of my meal, however it was only quite small and did have a strong flavour from the«poaching», which I didn’t really like, as it was too strong, away from the standard egg flavour. The beans were not much of an improvement, they tasted a little hard and also like a more value range combination. I do feel considering the factors stated in this review, and even previous reviews of Amigo’s, I can only give a single one star.

The guys are lovely friendly staff, especially one guy who remembers what you want each time, so friendly… However there is a blonde woman, I presume the owner, who when you’ve filled up your loyalty card by spending quite a lot on coffee so you can get a free one, actually charges you 20p for the larger coffee even though you have spent enough on a lot of coffee to actually get a free one lol This is not good customer service, nowhere in Middleton does this, or anywhere else for that matter, but if that 20p means the world to you then you have it, it’s being stingy! Especially when the coffee is WAY overpriced, it’s closely priced to the brand names like Starbucks, the coffee is far from being on par with Starbucks, and I think that should be reflected in the price, but it isn’t… So stop charging 20p extra when I’ve spent a fortune to save up the free coffee on my loyalty card… And lower the prices, it’s no Starbucks…
