Palate is definitely one of the best bars in Chorlton for me. I love the casual atmosphere and the fact it’s a mix of people eating and drinking. I also like the attention to details such as hooks at each table where they have hung up wine glasses and the huge wooden bar where you can sit and while away an hour or two. I also like the wooden furniture which gives the place a real contemporary feel. They have a good selection of beers and wine plus they serve prosecco by the glass. Palate is a great addition to the Chorlton scene.

This place is really nice but unfortunately doesn’t have any«draw» for me, at least not yet. I basically forgot I’d been until Unilocal reminded me to review it. I’d like to go again though, although now that I don’t live in the centre of Chorlton anymore I’m not sure that this was would be my first port of call if I was to make the journey there? We got two pints of Camden(a real shame they don’t have more local beers) and a meat platter and a cheese platter to share. I remember them both being good, with a good selection of meats/cheeses and different pickles and chutneys to accompany. I was pleased to see they have prosecco on tap but did not sample any on this occasion. Staff were nice and it’s really lovely inside.

I came here with Josh M and was skeptical about a wine bar with furniture made out of pallets. The place was absolutely heaving and not all of the staff were fully trained but nothing beats on the job training and everyone seemed chilled out standing around the bar area to be served/shown a table/pay their bill etc. which also doubles up as a seating area. The décor actually looks quite nice and spaced out. The big wooden chairs look more like chairs in a church than made out of pallets. They weren’t as heavy and clunky as I’d expected nor did I get any splinters as they are all varnished. As the place was busy we were sat outside. There were four large tables outside with room to add extra chairs to our party of 7. I only managed to have a large glass of Pinot Noir before the cold got to us and we moved on where we could be indoors and get some food. I will definitely visit this place again and try out the food and match it to their extensive wine list.

Minimalist decore made from pallets gives this new Chorlton wine bar its play on words name. A nice casual feel to the bar makes their gastro leanings and extensive wine selection less intimidating than most wine bars I’ve been in. I don’t feel judged for preferring beer and being a wine Luddite. Their beer selection is far more limited being 3 Camden beers on draught and a small selection of bottles but will quench the thirst of most beer drinkers. Sadly this aspect pales in comparison to the other new wine bar over in Didsbury and I do wish they had opted for a wider selection of beer if only to make use of the large number of fantastic local breweries rather than opting for keg beer shipped up from London. The menu consists of light snacks, charcuterie and cheese platters on the whole, with a limited but precisely chosen list of mains. Looks delicious as would be expected by the guys also known for Parlour on Beech Rd; items such as Air Dried Beef & Chilli Bresaola, Rocket, Artichokes & Parmesan. Palate will be a pleasant and relaxed addition to the already extensive Chorlton night life.
