Really solid place. Run by a really nice middle eastern guy who happily takes orders. I got one of the specials, a chicken gyro(choice of chicken or lamb), that came with a large portion of fries(chips). The meat was well seasoned and there was plenty of it. With my order coming in at £6.50 I will definitely be coming back here and I told the owner as I walked out!

Okay, we stayed at The Generator across the street and was too tired to go far for dinner so de tried this place. Almost all their food is just there under the counter, and they literally take what you ordered slaps it on a plate and MICROWAVES it right infront of your face. I got what i would describe as a childs size piece of lasagne with yesterdays yellow lettuce and nothing else for £6. My friend who got fish and chips was okay, really what you would expect but a bit bland. My other friend got a burger which was literally a bun, few pieces of yellow salad, a patty, a slice of cheese, and then another bun. No other ingredients what so ever. When we where paying and about to leave, the guy behind the counter dropped a coin into the rice and picked it up with his fingers aswell! Gross! I don’t know why anyone would go here ever, better to eat an apple or buy a premade sandwich at Tesco. Expensive, microwaved, and bland. I only made a Unilocal account to say DONOTGOHERE! If you have tastebuds and a wallet stay away.

For the economy traveller, Valencia Café is a nice fit. It’s located at the end of a row of low-cost hotels near Russell Square, Kings Cross and British Museum. Unilocal has it listed as American(traditional). I guess in some ways its American-like in that it is owned and operated by Turks featuring falafels, kebobs and English breakfasts in the morning. I had a falafel last night that was a rousingly tasty and laughably sloppy. Staff was fun loving. I came back for the British«Traditional» breakfast this morning. It’s a massive plate of food that would make a Midwestern farm boy content i.e. sausage, egg, ham, baked beans and french fries. They have an espresso machine. I like this place!

Bueno, bonito y barato.

My friend and I were both very hungry when we arrived in London so we just went in the first place we saw, and this happened to be the place. It is a small diner on the corner of a street with a cheeky fellow working behind the counter. I ordered the vegetarian burger and chips, and my friend got the English breakfast, which included baked beans, eggs, bacon, sausage and chips. I have to say, this is one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had and after being in Europe for three weeks and paying for ketchup everywhere, it was really exciting to find huge squeeze bottles filled with ketchup and… sour cream?! Awesome. The price is right and the food is great. We have already eaten here twice and will probably return once more before we leave London.

A cut above your average café with sticky plastic seats, stained lino and big squeezy sauce bottles. This café has sticky plastic seats, stained lino and big squeezy sauce bottles, but there was something extra cool about it. It may be the fact that in the twilight it looked a little like the brightly lit corner bar in that famous Hopper painting(‘Nighthawks’). It may have been the super charming guy behind the counter, it may have been the fact that all the windows were open so I could enjoy the way the café takes up the whole corner of a crossroads, people-watch and enjoy the smell of rain. It may be the way said charming guy behind the counter spoke kindly to the confused, mumbling old man who came in for a cappuccino. It definitely has something to do with the very delicious £3.49 falafels in a pitta with salad and garlicky yoghurt sauce.

I thought the falafel here was quite good. It is a quirky place, as others have written. The staff is quite friendly.

Came here on a Friday night with a friend after a long day spent on a day trip in Hampton Court and Windsor. We were hungry and were looking for a place to eat that was affordable and relatively close to the hostel. This place was across the street, and Pizza Park didn’t really excite us, so we went to Valencia. She got fish and chips and I got some falafel and chips(they are still fries to me no matter where I travel!!) and it was good, not too expensive either. The best part? It hit the spot, and it was the first time I ever drank Snapple Apple.

Valencia Café is a quirky Mediterranean restaurant in Bloomsbury and has an outstanding reputation in the Bloomsbury area for all things chip related. Feeling particularly adventurous on my lunch break I decided to branch out and opted instead for the jacket potato with chicken curry and immediately regretted my choice, the potato was soggy, the curry was bland and I only wished I had opted for my usual corned beef, egg and chips which is always outstanding. Wrong decisions aside Valencia is normally a pleasant place to eat. A quirky mix of plastic tables and glass chandeliers the décor is tacky chic and the staff are always friendly and cheerful. If you’re up for some from amusing, if not sometimes nonsensical small talk, or the latest news from the Turkish football league ask for Ahmed or Ali.

This café serves different types of food so is great if you can’t decide what you want or if there’s a hungry group of you. They do fry ups, baked potatoes, chip butties, cakes, salads, paninis, etc etc. They have an old fashioned breakfast bar where you can sit and watch the world go by, tables at the back and some outside. The best thing is that they have long opening hours, early morning till late at night, so are great for the munchies or post-hangover binges.
