I popped in here for a cheeky cocktail at about 2pm on a Friday. It was basically empty, which is what attracted me. I just sort of wanted a drink in peace after finishing up with a hair appointment nearby. I ordered a Hemingway Daiquiri and the bartender, Amy, was one of the loveliest servers I’ve ever encountered. Mad props to her for doing her job so well. She made my cocktail with complete care, adding more ingredients after doing a taste test, to ensure that it was perfect. She also had the time of day for me and had a conversation with me about what each of our plans were for the weekend. The odd person that trickled in while I was there she knew by name! All people working in the service industry could learn a lot from her. What a lovely lady! The décor in this bar is quaint and quirky and the seating is super comfy. I loved my cocktail; it was super strong and a nice zingy twist to a traditional Daiquiri. If I find myself in Shoreditch during the afternoon again then I will definitely pop back here.

During a cold walk on Brick Lane, a friend and I decided to try the Verge Bar because they served mulled cider. We had a lovely time, even if it was only for 20 minutes and the cider was really tasty. The place was quite empty beside two families with their running small children, but I’m sure it can be crowded in the evenings because of the location.

Every time I pass by this place it’s open and busy, but I had never actually stopped by for a drink. I decided to pop in for a cocktail with my mum whilst we waited for our appointment at the nearby cat café. It was a super hot day, and this place was offered a cool sanctuary but with the doors wide open you still managed to soak up the atmosphere from the beautiful day outside. It was around 4pm on a fri afternoon so the place was pretty empty. They were advertising Pims on the board but had ran out of Pims :(. Gutted I was craving cucumber after seeing it advertised. We opted for 2 mojitos instead. Price was pretty standard for London & the 2 drinks came to £18. Mojito was ok, I’ve had better for the price. I would have likes to stay longer and maybe try a few of the other cocktails but we were on a pretty tight schedule. It’s a great spot to watch the happenings of Brick Lane, and like I said on a fri/sat eve it seems to be going off. Would def go back of a nightime to see if it can improve on the 3 star rating.

Okay — so you have the whole of Shoreditch at your feet, you can go anywhere you want, try a whole host of different place — so you go to the Verge Bar… My response to that would be; why? You’d assume due to it’s great location you’d find a charismatic, interesting, even possibly arty cocktail bar upon entering through the doors… Erm — nope. There is nothing particularly outstanding about this bar, apart from the fact you’ll be able to get a seat as it can be quite quiet. We ordered some cocktails off of the menu, they didn’t know how to make these, and had to remake them after they tested them(I assume they didn’t taste that great — and the finished cocktail wasn’t really anything to write home about), and this place(in my opinion), completely lacks any sort of character. I would urge you to venture further my east London adventures — don’t just settle because it’s easy to get into, and sounds a little quieter than most, your quest should conclude in something more than this place has to offer!

Perfect place to lounge and catch up with friends. They have good amount of couches, comfy stools and padded benches scattered nicely everywhere. What I like the most about Verge is their music. They play lively music but at a moderate volume which allows to have conversation. They also have good selection of cocktails which were surprisingly delicious. It is also noteworthy to mention the friendly staff service here. I did not checked out the toilet but I heared it is cleaner in comparison to the surrounding bar/restaurants.

Had a great time at this bar. We booked an area for my friend’s birthday and the guys really looked after us. Knock a point off for a minor misunderstanding in relation to a bottle of vodka. But a great place to meet for drinks.

Every time I hit up brick lane I always end up at the Verge bar. I quite like the feel of this place its hip and trendy but plain at the same time(basic wallpaper, lounge seats and candles on the tables). Music style on a Saturday and Friday is a DJ(though disappointing there is not really the space to dance — the music however seems to be enjoyed nonetheless). Staff are always friendly and pretty much make any cocktails you so desire. Verge is in some ways pretentious yet not too pretentious at the same time as the venue itself is not big enough to fit the pretentious crowd numbers(if you get what I mean). Lets say smart pretentious sums it up. Perhaps its the attraction of an older more civilised drinker. I am yet to see drunken antics of youngens making fools of themselves in this place.

The verge is a great place to hang out away from the crowds of brick lane. It is of course less rough than the 1001 or across the street«casa blue», has an Interesting design inside, with comfortable couches and welcoming bar stools. You can enjoy a nice cocktail or hot chocolate(highly recommended: they melt some dark chocolate bits and pour it in the glass before adding the hot milk)… You can watch Jimmy Hendrix super prominent canvas and just let your min wander… In a nutshell, if you look for a groovy laid back Atmosphere, before homping from one bar to the other, this is certainly your place! Some east londoners even come with prams here…

Another addition to the Brick Lane bar posse, nothing particularly stands out in this venue except that the toilets are infinitely cleaner than in Casa Blue and the couches are more comfortable. Great for people watching certainly, on the busy corner of Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road so it works as a designated meeting point, but lacks the character and originality of other local haunts. Good for an urban sleep amidst the chic.

The Verge is located at the busy and trendy corner of Brick Lane and Bethnal Green road. It is a friendly looking cocktail bar with big aquarium like windows. Opened up just last summer it’s one of the youngest bars in the block but seems to have found it place already. I walk by the bar daily and there is always people inside(and they always seem to be having fun and laughing) so my theory is that it is the people that makes this place so popular. Also I would say that the customers are usually above the average(twenty something) age in that neighborhood, so maybe slightly more civilized atmosphere, but that is just based on my observations. The bar it self is nothing striking, very plain but modern without looking too«new». All right prices and large selection with cocktails, that are mix of old classic with some more creative ones. Especially I love their espresso martini!

I arrived here very late after a mini-pub crawl in Clapham; I didn’t know where it was or whether my friends would still be there(what conclusions if any can you draw if no one answers their phone?), and people I asked for directions just gave me glazed looks. Or maybe it was my eyes that were glazed, it was kind of hard to tell. In any case, after this traumatic journey I was overcome with euphoria once I actually got here. Still, in the cold piercing light of reason, it is hard to say what this bar is all about. Pretty cool place, lots of people standing around chatting, though plenty of comfy sofas if you want to sit down. I remember a big picture of Jimi Hendrix, that’s always a good sign. If you order a whiskey, they give you two glasses, one with whiskey, and one with ice and a little silver(well probably not silver — but shiny, at least) spoon.(Of course I don’t take ice when I’m drinking real whiskey, but sometimes I need some bourbon with ice.) Only after a while did I discover that they were giving me doubles, that explains a thing or two. I’m rambling. I think this might be a really cool bar, but I need to go back to double-check before I award more stars…
