I do not suggest staying at this hostel. By far my worst hostel experience for many reasons. The showers are about 2 ft wide, so you can’t move to actually clean your whole body or wash your hair. they rarely filled the toilet paper, so many nights I was left toilet paperless. They never had soap at the sinks, which was unsanitary. The first day they came in and made our bed and filled our water jug in the room, but this stopped and got worse with each day, so by the last day they didn’t fill our water or make or bed but also left a window open to the freezing weather outside(heaters barely worked btw, so our nights were incredibly cold) and also left our rooms open which is not safe at all. The place smelled terrible and the towels were free but kind of damp when we got them. It’s only saving grace was the bar and helpful staff for tourist ideas. So stay somewhere else and just come to the horse and stables for food and drinks.

Good food, nice beers and comfortable beds. When I arrived there was live music in the pub and it was quite busy. I had a long day of traveling. So I was pretty tired. Despite the amount of people at the bar, one of the bar crew immediately checked me in and showed me my room. The rooms are very clean and the beds are good. Breakfast is basic but still what u expect of a good hostel. Nice place to stay, in the hostel or just to have a drink or have diner. Very friendly crew which are always happy to help.

The place is *much* nicer inside than it looks from the outside. Not much of a beer selection, but they do have a couple of ales on tap, and the food(at least the hamburgers we ordered) was very nice. The staff seems really pleasant too. A good choice for dinner or a pint if you’re around Lambeth North station.

Fun crowd, great location, and surprisingly good pub food considering the place is also a hostel! The bangers and mash had a lot of flavor, though I like a bit more salt(which was easily added at the table). Liked the cask ales too, the Best Bitter was spot on.

The Horse and Stables seems like a great pub to visit for a few drinks when you’re in Lambeth North. It’s very close to the station and has plenty of room inside to sit and have food and drinks. There’s a pretty good selection of drinks, both beers and cocktails so no matter what you like you can find something good. The other interesting fact about this pub is that it has regular comedy shows upstairs so it is known in the comedy circles. There’s a small stage and the upstairs room is a bit small, which creates a very nice intimate atmosphere. I’d recommend checking out the comedy as it’s a way to discover new talent and sometimes you can also take part in the improv comedy jams and see what it’s like being on stage. I may not go out of my way to go there for drinks, but if I’m in the area again I’ll definitely stop by for a pint.

My wife and I hit up The Horse and Stables after a long day sightseeing. It was pretty noisy(I had to shout at my wife), but to be fair, it was 9:00 on a Friday night. My wife’s hamburger was undercooked; however, they quickly made her a new one and rectified the situation. My bangers and mash were quite good as well. Overall, a solid choice for dinner.

This is for the Hostel, not the pub. Very nice people who run it. How ever extremely loud, inside & out. Street noise ALL night long. They even provide ear plugs! The people in the room next to us were in & out all night slamming doors. The wi-fi upstairs in room was horrible to say the least. You might be lucky enough to catch it for a few minutes. Great location to underground. Would I stay again, no.

We love the Horse and Stables! Great specials and delicious food as well as an awesome beer selection. This place also doubles as a hostel… good to note. Any time we’re in London we’ll be stopping by the Horse & Stables for sure! Try the Mac & cheese or the Chipotle burger if you’re an American missing home ;)

It’s a place where you can drink some beer with a friend in a good atmosphere. Me and my wife go there when we have some hard times at work, so it’s a place where you can ”clear you mind”. They have some nice music events too with special guests invited.

The Perfect Venue for a Party. Celebrating a good friends *cough* 40th *cough, we all rocked up in 80s fancy dress. With 5 George Micheal’s and two Adam ants, I’m not sure how the bar staff coped with our atrocious costume and our excessive drinking habits, but they took it all in their stride and were polite and efficient throughout the night.(At least I always had a drink in my hand from what I recall). We had the whole pub to ourselves, which for a venue sooo central on a Saturday night is a treat to say the least. The place itself was perfect for us. Lots of space to dance, booths and cubbies, psychedelic wall paper in the ladies and a little stage all set up for DJ and speeches. There’s some really reasonably priced Thia food on the menu, which smelled divine. I’m afraid after a few pints of fosters and a margarita, I was a bit of a heathen and just ordered chips. They did the trick. A good selection behind the bar and a good offering of cocktails all around £6.95 which you can’t sniff at in a venue 8 mins walk from Waterloo. Look out for their shooters offer, namely a Pussy Hunter comprising of madori and… something else, which at two for £5 was a bargain. Altogether a good night had by all, and will definatly be returning for a bit of a boogie and some naughty shooters.

2012 Review #206: So, we had not yet realized that nowhere in London stays open past 11pm, unless they are a bar in a high-traffic area. The end of our first full day, it was 10pm and we were finally hungry for dinner. That’s when we realized that almost all kitchens close at 9:30. We were forlorn and starving, and thirsty. The Horse was actually adjacent to our hotel, so we went in after failing at a couple places down the street. When we got there they told us that they too stopped serving food at 9:30 pm but that they would«Try to get us something» so we ordered some simple things like chicken satay and spring rolls. Sure enough, the kitchen obliged. That alone won me over. They have a really decent happy hour here with very well-priced shots, pitchers, and cocktails. We ended up getting pints, and my husband tried the«super cold» variety of Guinness. The food itself was fine, certainly fit the bill, but was a bit less than we were wanting at that time of day. We were just grateful they were open. They said they closed at 11pm but we walked back past them at midnight or so and they were still open, so who knows. I wish we could’ve come for happy hour, but this place has a nice vibe and several different areas to choose from.

Sehr nette Bar direkt neben dem Tune Hotel wo wir übernachteten. Atmosphäre ist gut, aber nicht super-urig. Personal sehr freundlich. Hatten Cheeseburger und Entencurry. Beides sehr gut. Werden sicher noch öfter hier sein. Preise für Essen sehr günstig, etwa 8£.

That’s a huge bitch! ahem…lots of space in this place. Interesting décor. I was on my way to something else and just needed a place for my friend to nosh before going home on the tube. Mainly Thai food on the menu with a small splattering of british pub food. DONOT eat the fish n chips. Nasteh… But I saw lots of people ordering the thai and it was looking good at least on the way to the tables. Could see myself here on a Friday night after work… if I worked in the area: P

New to the neighborhood and waiting for a friend so suggested we meet here as it’s close by. Not much to look at from the street, as of yet(Oct09) but step inside and you’re in a nice room. Very good list of wines on offer at good prices. Nice service, friendly and quick. Glad I found it, now it’s my local. Enjoy!

Looks better inside than outside. It’s actually quite a nice pub inside, one that serves a good selection of drinks, including a guest ale. It was called Golden Hare and unfortunately it was nothing special. but credit for having a guest ale. In fact after the head settled the barmaid actually tried to create a new guest ale by topping it up with some Deuchars, which I went for a full pint of nextgood stuff. Enjoyed some nice chips too to stave off the hunger. They weren’t skinny fries, wedges or big fat chips. I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest that this pub has created a new species of chip, but it wasn’t one I had come across before and I would definitely recommend them. The venue obviously caters for groups as upstairs a group was either drinking or dining dressed as superheroes. This was cause for some amusement and after seeing the girl who was dressed as Robin I can now better understand the rumours about him and Batman. Tries to market itself as being in the Waterloo area, but is actually right near Lambeth North station

I’ve eaten here many times for a bite at lunchtime. Good service and quick too. Recently renovated and includes a new Thai/Chinese menu which is really reasonable at £5 although a strange choice considering there are a million Thai restaurants in the area and a lack of good pub grub. There is a really good range of choices on the menu and the curries, salads, wraps etc are all good. The good news is that the Horse Burger is still on the menu and is definately one to try. Its a really big, juicy, tasty burger with chunky fries tastes even better when you wash it down with a large glass of vino!

Great bar. Always gets busy after work when the weekend is coming up. It’s only a short walk away from Waterloo station but I doubt many people have found there way to it from there which is a shame. Its a fairly big bar, with a number of booth seats, and useful for large groups of people who may pop in on friday after escaping the office, a long table at the back. Food is also served, and from memory the price is resonable, and it tastes pretty good too. They have an upstairs with a small bar and sofas dotted around, it never seems to be open though, but I think you can hire it for small parties etc(which is when i’ve been up there).
