Really great food. Had take away. They let us know when they were running late and ten wasn’t running in the end. Huge pitta! Very happy :)

Came here on recommendations but it doesn’t live up to other Turkish Restaurants. I went for the Adana shish. Spiced well but the meat quality wasn’t very high. Still had bits of gristle in and started to get chewy as it was overcooked. You do get a nice salad and charred onions but not much bread unless you ordered starters which we didn’t. There are better places and I will stick to those.(Visit — 16/04/2015 Dinner)

Been living in London for 8 years and this is my favourite restaurant. It’s my go to restaurant for any foodie visiting the city as it’s as unpretentious and good as it gets. Service is always bad, i’ve been going for 8 years and they have never as much as acknowledged my presence but the food keeps me going back. Standard order is the chicken shish meal, a spinach and feta pide and one of the delicious aubergine starters. Can’t go wrong!

FANTASTIC! We were walking along, lost and hungry, looking at Unilocal on the phone. What a gem, delicious lamb chops and a generous lamb platter, my first Effes beer(s). Couldn’t have been more pleased. Staff was very polite.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks this place is so great. Maybe I didn’t order the right stuff, or maybe I needed someone to eat with to really enjoy it(my friend was going to come but got stuck in crazy traffic from the tube strike). It is small and very crowded, with the tables packed together and the kitchen right in the midst of the tables. It’s bright and loud, and not my favorite kind of ambiance(ambiance is pretty important to me in my enjoyment of eating out). Since the food is what everyone seems to rave about, I had higher expectations of it. I ordered the grilled veggie pide with feta cheese(a Turkish flatbread) and stuffed grape leaves as a starter. It was good, but not great — I’ve had better pides for sure. It came with salad I wasn’t a huge fan of, not really fresh ingredients and bitter flavors. I walked through this trendy neighborhood by a few places that looked fun and pleasant on the inside — maybe I should’ve gone there. Oh well, I don’t always agree with Unilocalers!

That little red«people love us on Unilocal» sticker is a rare sighting in the UK so when I spied it on this bustling little Turkish place I couldn’t shake it from my head: Must Eat There. After walking for some time on nearby Brick Lane and getting hit up by every barker in front of every Indian eatery the family left the decision in my hands. Thank you, family. I marched them right back to Tas Firin. In truth, Tas Firin would’ve caught my eye even without the red sticker but the sticker did up my interest factor. The place is small and crowded with people and has plate glass windows on two sides, announcing itself to passers-by. Steamy smoke billows from the grill being actively worked at the core of the restaurant. Your clothes will smell(luscious) when you leave. Tas Firin has no doorfront barker trying to entice passers-by and needs none. Dinner began with a cold mezze platter(£8) of «maybe-we-should-rethink-the-rest-of-our-order» proportions. Four hungry diners seriously sated themselves with the goodness of this plate. But wait. We only thought we were full. Being a cheese whore I couldn’t resist ordering up a second starter for the table. If possible, it was even more luscious than the first: Halloumi(£4.50), a traditional Cyprus cheese, served grilled and warm. Let’s debate right now whether there’s anything more satisfying than this combination of starters. I win. People who wish to not to have to loosen their belt a notch should stop right here. Pay, and walk out joyously satisfied. That wasn’t us. We went on to have: * Spinach pide with feta cheese(£7) — Essentially a Turkish pizza, this dish was rich and salty and… who am I kidding? Way too much food. Another party at my table ordered another pide(Lamb Pide with Egg) and both of us barely made it through 2 slices apiece. You thought I’d say one, right? Excellent stuff, but maybe share with the table? * The Chicken Tava(£9) takes 30 minutes, is worth the wait, and again, could be shared amongst many. It’s a bubbling hot stew made with tomatoes, onions, and green & red peppers and it’s a steal for the amount of goodness it delivers. * A Mixed Kebab platter(£11.50) was the single most expensive thing ordered but it delivered like the rest of our selections. 2 chicken kebabs, 1 lamb kebab, and 1 minced, grilled lamb kebab accompanied by rice and warm, fresh pita. Simple and perfect. Two beautifully colorful salads accompanied the entrees. It was a shame that I could barely look at them let alone eat them. Same for the other accompaniment of grilled onion in a special, thin purple sauce. All of it so good but I was already beyond full. The perfect meal at the most reasonable prices(and possibly my favorite meal from my entire London vacation) was closed out with a honey-drizzled plate of 4 baklava, compliments of the house. Couldn’t let those go to waste. Urp. Our waiter was extremely gracious about bagging up all of our leftovers and throwing in, without our asking, plenty more fresh pita. My son planted the bag of deliciousness at the foot of an occupied sleeping bag in the doorway of a Chelsea storefront late that evening. I’m betting this meal brightened someone else’s day in addition to ours.

Another fabulous find courtesy of Unilocal!Tas Firin is 5 star worthy all the way except for the cash only form of payment policy. Such policy we are willing to over look for excellent Turkish food. Keep in mind this review is based mainly on a take away order. We decided to call in our order which included the ezra salad, shish skewer, mixed meze and iskender. Along with our order, we were given humungous amount of flat bread, rice and 2 portion of turkish turkish salad. Upon arrival, we were amaze to see how heavy our take away bag was and all for less than £30! At home on the other hand was even more impressive. The portioning of the food was fairly generous for how much we paid while each one of them were all absolutely delicious, fresh, satisfying and healthy. My husband and I scarfed down the food happily. After finally feeling full to the rim, we noticed that there were still more food for another meal. Yay! We are already looking forward for more of it. We really enjoyed the food from Tas Firin. We are also really happy that it is located not too far away from where we live. We will definitely come back here for more.

Lovely local restaurant and makes a change from the mass produced curry houses of Brick Lane. Well worth a visit for casual dining with friends. Very small space but this just contributes to the nice atmosphere. Liked that you can see the kitchen and watch them cook. Staff seemed efficient and knew their stuff.

Wow. Desi suggested coming here after Mike’s gallery opening across the street. So Nava, the other half, and I headed over to get us a table for afterwards. First off it’s quite a tiny restaurant. Not a huge number of seats, but when we said we’d need room for six, they worked really hard to find a place for us to sit. And they did a great job with it too. When we were all there(which ended up being eight not six, but we managed to squish up), we decided to order. Desi and Mike got the Pides(which I thought rhymed with«sides» and then was told it’s pronounced«Pi-dahs») which are like these Turkish pizza things. Adam ordered some of the grilled lamb. The other half had other ideas for us, and we managed to convince Nava our plan was amazing. We ordered a ridiculous amount of food. We had this kind of pink dip with bread(and the flatbread was AMAZING) that was blended up roe with some other stuff. Very tasty, slightly salty and fishy. We also had the mixed meze plate. Most things on it were great, with the sausage and Halloumi being the standout bits with the felafel being the only thing we didn’t like(but I don’t like it anyway, probably the texture, so I didn’t really mind). We also had a starter of lamb liver which was amazing. We had mince flatbreads that were incredibly tasty. We ordered a mixed grill plate that had quail, liver, chicken, lamb chops, minced lamb, and some sort of ribs. Everything on the plate was superb and well cooked, with nothing dry and overdone. It was served with rice and bulgar wheat. Delish! Finally, we had a mixed meat pide. I thought it was fantastic, but the other half preferred the grill. I have to say I felt a bit bad that we ordered that much food, as it meant everyone else’s took ages to come out. However, we got to try a lot of stuff, and most of it was spectacular. Full of flavor and extremely well done. Will I be coming back? Definitely! I’d never had Turkish food before, and I’m incredibly glad I tried it! My only small complaint was the lack of good wine on the wine list, but the food made up for that completely.

Can my review just be «What Grant said.»? Because seriously… What Grant said. Everything was delicious. And I tried a lot of things. And my scale is pretty angry at me about it this morning. The mixed pide was faboo and there was an egg on it hidden somewhere(I think it was laid out on the bottom and baked under all the other stuff) which made my damn evening. Duly impressed with their ability to cram our somewhat large group into a table as the restaurant was jam-packed! Tas Firin totally blows all other Turkish joints I’ve tried away.

Admittedly, I am no connoisseur of Turkish food. But based on my experience at other Turkish places in London, I’d say this was was really good! Plus, the owner/manager guy who waited on us was really friendly and gave us free rice pudding, so that always helps. We had a cold mezze plate that was very plentiful, a mixed kebab, and some grilled halloumi. The portions were plentiful, the rice was really tasty, and the meat juicy. I will most certainly be back! They seem to do a lot of take away business as well. Too bad they are cash only though.

Great Turkish food just off Brick Lane. The first time we came to London about 6 years ago we found this place by accident. It was pretty cold out and I can still remember how nice it was to sit inside where it was warm and cozy, with meat being cooked on the indoor grill. Friendly service, reasonable prices and great food. We have since been back on subsequent trips. 5 stars.

Fabulous lovely place just far enough from Brick Lane with super trad Turkish food. Pides are fab. Prices are reasonable. Everything’s fresh. Just don’t get burned by the crazy charcoal grill.

I literally stumbled upon this place while showing some visiting friends Brick Lane. It’s just like the wonderful little cafes I ate in in Istanbul, something I have been searching all over London for. Well now I can safely say I have found my culinary home just round the corner from my favourite market. It’s small but no one had to wait very long for a table, the food was fantastic and the pides just as good as any I have tasted in Turkey. The chef got my friends order wrong, the wrong dish was quickly replaced and she was told she could keep both dishes. A surprise find was a baby changing unit in the ladies toilet, not something you’d expect to find in such a small restaurant but a HUGE bonus for me as I have a two month old baby. All in all it was a fantastic find and definitely somewhere I will make a point to return to. I can see me visiting Brick Lane market even more often now!

Whenever I’m in East London, I make it a point to come and eat here and only here. It may not look like much from the outside or inside but it really doesnt matter if you love food, Turkish food specifically. What I normally start with is the lentil soup which is made to perfection. i have never had better lentil soup(£3.50) anywhere else. It is made all the tastier served with olives and wedges of lemon. I like mine with some spice so I add chili. Then I move onto the spinach pide(like a pizza boat topped with cheese and of course spinach) which is baked in their brick oven! This dish usually comes with salad but I like to eat it with pickled red cabbage. If I still have room in my tummy I also order the patlican soslu(aubergine side dish served cold but wonderful with the freshly baked Turkish bread) My partner likes to order the lamb kebabs that are grilled over charcoal. This dish comes with perfectly cooked rice, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, and green peppers. To top the meal off we have Turkish tea at the end. This place is a definite must try as I believe it is one of the best if not the best Turkish place in London.

This place was a welcome surprise. Having traipsed around the area all day, we were looking for somewhere comfortable to eat. Didn’t fancy a curry for a change. I really enjoyed the unpretentiousness of this place. The food is lovely and the portions very generous. Starters really weren’t necessary, but who could resist home made houmous and tzatziki?! The tables near the open oven are probably very popular in winter, but we were lucky to get a seat by the open window on a hot summer’s day. It was easy to imagine you are on holiday in a Turkish village.

What I love about this place is two things: 1. It isn’t miles up Kingsland Road 2. It does all the bread/baked style turkish courses than many Turkish restaurants don’t do. I used to go here loads as I lived on Cheshire St and it became a bit of a local. Having not been there for ages I went there tonight and it was the same; cheap, efficient and above standard Turkish. Buzzy as ever.

I’m prepared to believe that I used to live in the worst flat in London that was made barely tolerable by it’s immediate closeness to this little gem. This is some of the best Turkish I’ve had in London(its been confirmed this is, in fact, the best Turkish place in London by a myriad of friends). The ambiance is nothing to speak of, but the waiters are always lovely and the food is fantastic. Their hummus is the best I’ve had — and I’ve been surprised at how bad such a simple recipe can become in the wrong hands. The mezes, piedes and kababs are all fantastic. They cook up everything on an open grill right in the dining room so you can see what you’re about to eat. I moved away from Tas Firin and due to some suspect laziness, I haven’t been back. But I will soon. As long as I’m in London this place will be on the top of the list of some of the best.

I like this place for its simple presentation, no frills service and the porky chef who makes amusing facial gestures whilst tossing meaty skewers on his giant Turkish grill(the meaning of Tas Firin). You’ve got a slightly bizarre photo of a family relative above the door frame and a space-consuming tiki hut. For starters, the halloumi was rubbery and although not fresh, tasty nonetheless. The lamb livers were pretty good although again lacking that ‘straight from the market’ texture. The chicken and lamb shish were more than edible, coming with rice and an inspiring salad of lettuce(which I like) and beetroot(that I don’t). With more local competition, this restaurant would shoot down the list but dominated by curry houses, it certainly gets my ‘great value’ votefor now!
