Avoid this place! Very rude chef and staff. The chef just came YELLING at us when we complained about the steak which was over cooked and rubber dry. I guess he was the chef as he just cane up to our table, stood there and started yelling at us whithout even intoroducing himself. No apologies what so ever. This is my second visit to this place, the food was Okay first time, although we didn’t complain about the slow service first time! Sorry but this is not the way you treat your costumers.

Worst ever steakhouse(so they called themselves). Soft drinks came flat and we had to replace them with bottle ones. I had a ribeye steak which was just fine. I ordered it medium and more than 2⁄3 of it is well done. My wife ordered a siriloin steak medium cooked. When it came, it was well done too(no surprise). When we talked to the waitor, she took it the«CHIEFS», and all agreed that it is «medium»!! Then, a guy came and said that there is «nothing i can do about it », without introducing himself and started to raise his voice and walked away. We asked the waitress about that guy and she told us it is the owner! Bottom line, i would Never go again. Not only because the food was below average, but because the bad attitude of the owner thinking that he owns the customer’s opinion too!

The view from outside seating is great. Service was horrible, but I blame myself for waiting. 10 minutes to be seated, then 15 to order. Chicken came out first and was delicious, then waited 25 minutes for my chicken burger that wasn’t good at all.

Really swank place for a nice dinner out or drinks with friends. The place has a very sexy vibe, very NYC chic. Black leather, lots of chandeliers and a mixed style of dining areas. The food is nice but expensive! I would probably go here for dinner as a special occasion. In warmer weather it is nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view of the Thames. Very popular with the after work crew at St George Wharf.

I’ve had a fair bit of rude service in my life, but this one takes the cake for my experience in London thus far. Steax and The City is one of those bar /restaurants near my workplace, so it really does baffle me when they can be so rude in a office /business area. We’ve ordered several drinks and it took them 30 minutes, and me going up to the management to chase them before they brought it to us. They attempted to make us pay for the bill twice. I’m sure this was just a miscommunication on their end, but it did feel like they were trying to see if they could make my manager pay for the drinks twice. The night just gets worse when I asked a server to confirm the name of the resturant and he replied that he didn’t know. That came as such a shock to me. How could a server not know where he was working(regardless if it was his first week at work). We had ordered a gin and tonic, and a vodka coke. The server decided to come back 30 minutues later with a gin and coke and a vodka tonic.

What a name! I would go just for the name, but not everyone likes puns as much as I do. My friend who is a London resident recommended this place for a quick bite on New Years Eve and he assured us all that we wouldn’t need to book. Located on the banks of the Thames a short trot from Pimlico Station I was convinced that we would but being a tourist I didn’t argue. When we turned up at the door the whole place was set for the NYE frivolities and at that point it became clear that you would 100% need to book! Undeterred we asked the front of house could we perhaps sneak on to a table that was booked later in the evening and he agreed. This was the first bit of top notch service. Then when we got seated we realised it was a set NYE menu at £75 a head, I started to shuffle towards the exit. The staff came over and asked us if we were ready to order and when we asked could we order off the normal menu they obliged. Another example of excellent service. I ordered the 18oz sirloin obviously trying to impress the table of lads and when it came it was absolute perfection –well worth its £25 price tag! I washed the steak down with a stein of beer. Steax and the City is right up my street, good name, good beer and sublime steak. I was really impressed with the staff — on their busiest evening of the year they made exceptions for our group and they exemplified good customer service.

I had the pleasure if having dinner here twice last week. The first dinner was a take away order and the bar tinder made a little mistake on my order, no big deal but he then gave me a glass of cab to make up for it. The fine was great, the fillet and the spinach was great. A few nights later we ate there outside, perfect weather and a great view of the sunset. The food was great and the service simply fantastic! A lovely place !

Good steaks and burgers but at times inconsistent, being too overcooked. King prawn tempura is surprisingly tastier than in a lot of Japanese places. Very reasonable beer prices with 25% off from 4 to 7pm daily. Definitely best one out of the three on the riverside, in terms of drink prices and food quality.

This was going to be the ‘fine dining’ venue in St George Wharf. It turns out to be an expensive surf and turf joint. It’s pleasant enough. Dark, macho interior, plus outside seating in fine weather. No musak(hurrah). Service is patchy to say the least. A recent lunch of half lobster, fries, courgettes, Bellini and espressos was £50 for two. As I say, pricey. But to be fair, the lobster was perfectly cooked, tasty, with a nice grilled flavour, and paprika butter. The fries were marginally better than oven chips — they need to improve on these. I’ll go again, but I certainly wouldn’t make a special trip.

Like a submarine appearing out of no where, Steax in the City has pulled the same trick. I have stumbled across it from my walks through St Georges Wharf each day as I head to the gym(Ok each day is probably wishful thinking then anything else!). It caught my eye because the restaurant signage from a certain angle appears as SEX, but really it says StEaX… Anyway — you probably have to see it to know what I mean. So after closer scrutiny and confirming that some adult shop had not randomly opened in St Georges Wharf, I realized that it was the next best thing… A Modern American Steak House(MASH — which I believe this one is related to MASH in Soho). After tough gym session on Friday night, we decided to give it a go and take on some real natural protein as opposed to the usual powdery shake. Perhaps it was the first few weeks and the fact that no one really knows it’s there apart from the locals meant that it was pretty quiet. It could also be the NYE hangover, but we were seated immediately. On first impressions, it a place that I would probably dress up for because everything is feels and looks really fancy. But being a local restaurant, I got by in t-shirt and jeans even though there were plenty of tie wearing restauranteurs, but I am sure that the dim lights help with that. The place has a full bar and the first menu that we got was a cocktail list, but we were keen for the protein so we requested the dinner menu straight away. The dinner menu had a good range of starters and salads, a range of fish choices, a burger and of course a range of steak cuts from Sirloins to Australian Wagyu beef. Each cut of steak was a priced at the minimum 100g and you got to chose the weight you wanted. The prices for the steak were comparable with Goodmans and from memory, probably a little higher than Gauchos(which I don’t rate). My approach to trying new restaurants is to try something cheap and basic and see how they do with it and if they do that well, I go back for more. So I picked the Steak Cheese Burger whilst the GF(who doesn’t go with my approach) picked the Sirloin(200g medium rare). The steaks come with hand cut, double cooked chips as a standard and we also ordered the avocado salad and some bread for starters. The bread for £3 was nice but nothing to write about, the salad portion was small but extremely tasty and perfectly plated. As for the mains — my burger was excellent and couldn’t fault it. I liked the fact that the burger had more than just cheese, but also had a heirloom or beef tomato(whatever it was, it was big and not some Tesco tomato) in it with red onion. In terms of the Sirloin … it was delicious. I only got one bite, but it was the melt in your mouth kind of steak that was perfectly cooked(as requested) both in the middle and outside of the steak. It had natural flavors with no need for anything else. The cut was lean and there certainly weren’t any left over chewy bits. So overall, the experience was on the more pricey end for a local restaurant, but I can certainly see this one being one that people would travel for and definitely a good alternative to a protein shake…
