My friends and I were sightseeing and we wanted to try the fish and chips in London. So we settled on this place and loved it! We each had a beer and had an amazing lunch!

I stumbled upon this place after sightseeing at Westminister Abbey, London eye & Big Ben. It was here that I first experienced UK style fish & chips. I didn’t expect much given its proximity to major tourist attractions. In my experience, restaurants near tourist attractions are generally not very good. However, I was pleasantly surprised; the fish & chips were actually very good. The fish was crisp which paired well with the accompanying tarter sauce. I enjoyed the crisp chips as well. Ordered a Rekorderlig Premium Strawberry-Lime Cider. It was to die for. Wish I could’ve shipped a crate of it back to the states, Word to the wise. This is a sweet cider, for those of us who want to like beer, but don’t really care for the taste. Service was nothing to write home about, but it was efficient. The one thing that did annoy me was my servers comment«I should’ve known» after I placedd my fish and chips order; I suppose this was due to the prevailing abundance of American tourists there all wanting to experience UK style fish & chips. This actually gave me a sense of If you’re in the area, pop in for fish in chips. It’s a great place to break away from all the surrounding hustle & bustle.

Good pub at a great location. Bartenders are friendly and willing to help you find a beer you’ll like. We even had one bartender confiscate one of our beers a few gulps in because it looked too cloudy to him. He promptly replaced it with a fresh full pint! My wife and I returned a second time a couple days later from Waterloo. This time we sat upstairs for lunch. Service was friendly up there albeit a little slow. Fish and chips were good but the fish pie was excellent.

I came here with my classmates, a crew of 6, and it was home to my first real international mealtime experience. Granted, I’ve been to a pub once or twice before this, but this was the first full restaurant meal and drink I’ve been to. It is fantastic, I had of course, fish and chips-it was a large portion and truly hot. They were quite busy when we arrived, so we were able to get some drinks from the bar while waiting with a pager that let us know when a table was ready. As a result, we got to sit on the top balcony and at the table that let us look over to the floor below and the windows outside, it was an amazing view. The downside really was how crowded it is-granted I know the reason is due to it’s location being at a tourist’ hotspot, but I didn’t care for the crowd. Regardless, the servers were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would certainly go again if I could.

Overpriced drinks but you can’t beat the view — right across the street from Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Pub seating downstairs and outside patio. Dining room seating upstairs.

The food was solid, and the beer was good, but I’ve had better fish and chips at a similarly priced venue. The chips were good, and the scampi was actually excellent. It also needs to be said that the service was quite good and overall friendly. But overall, I just got the impression that this establishment has figured out it has prime real estate and just isn’t trying that hard to be at all exceptional.

Very nice athmosphere. So close to the parliament a pub everyone can enter. Tables are reserved, but when asking one they give you a table. Good selection of beers in a neighbourhood where there a not to many. Certainly will back here for there selection of beers.

If you’re looking for the fish and chip thing, pretty much anywhere in this area will taste and cost similar, so you might as well go for the ambiance. This place is right across the street from Big Ben, making it Über Convenient for the quick tourist meal. Diners seemed all touristy but locals standing at the bar. It was crowded and we had to wait with a beeper it’s ode but it was only 5 – 10 minutes. Yes, many on tap are room temp., which is normal here so no loss of stars for that.

It’s too bad this place isn’t better, because it certainly has many gifts. First off the location is amazing, with views of Parliament out the windows and just outside. It’s surprisingly calm considering it’s in tourist central. I’ve never found it too overwhelmed with out-of-towners. Always a bit of space available to tip a pint. The interior is cozily appointed: nice fixtures, plush rugs, dark wood. The only thing — and this kills me because I’m all for saving the environment — is the energy efficient bulbs make this place feel sterile and cold, like a hospital operating theater or interview room at police headquarters. Maybe they could invest in some lampshades? The staff was all right. Neither great nor bad. The selection of beer is the same. If you need a pint, you could do worse getting one here, but you’ll hardly find some new and unexpected craft beer here.

Pretty convenient as it’s near the city center, within walking distance to Big Ben, the Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. They also have free wi-fi too. The bar menu seems to be aligned with the other bars in London. I guess they pretty much serve the same thing. Prices are consistent too. They have a decent amount of beers on tap. Some cold and some at room temperature. So if you’re not used to room temperature beer, you better ask first.

We came here as we could not leave without having fish and chips in London, but go figure, most places weren’t open around 11AM on a Sunday. This was the only place we could find nearby that was open, but seating is quite limited. We were lucky to get a table as people were just leaving. You order at the bar, and we ordered fish and chips with extra fries(pass on the peas) and a traditional cornish pastry. Both were super tasty, although the fish was a bit oily of course. I like how they have various Heinz condiments on the table ranging from tartar, english mustard, etc. Prices are very reasonable, and we had a good meal that didn’t leave us distgustingly full.

Stumbled onto this spot during my sightseeing travels in London this fall. Stopped by Big Ben and Parliment and went in for lunch. It is a cozy, old style pub with plenty of ales flowing. Had my first English pub ale, a light Badger pint to start.(Can’t really get used to luke warm beer of any kind, but it was good) Ordered the Fish and chips with peas. It was the best i have ever had back home in the US. The fish was tasty and flaky. the batter was crispy. Great flavor. Did not go wrong with this choice. Definitely go after the lunch rush and before the end of the work day. this place fills up fast and you will have to wait.

We found this place searching for dinner and ended up walking in for brunch. The ham and eggs were remarkable, when most ham is mundane. Seating comfort is a challenge but ok for a time.

Got a gentle ribbing from the bartender for ordering a half. Later I got another half. The badger beers here were so bland I couldn’t commit to a while pint of any of them. Why are their pub beers so lame when their bottles beers are so very tasty? We enjoyed some food here… that at least tastes a bit more interesting than the beer! We had quite a blue conversation and I suspect the people around us were not disappointing when we left.

Good food for a better price than you’ll find in other parts of town near other attractions. We ate up stairs in a quaint cramped little room with green seating. The tables use little green stools as chairs. The girls who took our order and seated us were very nice and attentive . I ordered the seasonal ale which was o.k., and the fish n chips. They were cheap with the chips and only gave me but one piece of fish. It was good, but again, not great. My son had an apple drink with gas that was good. He also had the Classic hamburger which was disappointing. They didn’t even ask him how he wanted it cooked. All burgers are cooked well done there. My daughter had an apple juice that was great. She also ordered the salmon and prawn pie, which she enjoyed. My niece had a Guinness which she enjoyed a lot and the bangers and mash. She reported that her plate was tasty and satisfying. All the plates came with peas that tasted like wax. Why the English don’t steam their veggies is a mystery. My wife had a Coke and a bowl of chicken curry that came with rice and bread. It was fantastic. I ended up paying about $ 30 per person which for London was cheap. We all left happily satisfied.

We were here three times during our one week trip to London. You will be seated on a very very small table, sometimes the table is for two, the other day we got the same table, but we were four people. My neighbour said: it’s cozy here. That’s true and it’s true that you might have to wait for about 10 to 20 minutes for a table, but you can wait at the bar having a wonderful ale and you get a buzzer indicating when your table is ready. I really enjoyed the ales they have, especially the light«Hopeful Hop». The fish and chips here are great and also the pies. We have been here three times during our week in London, just because we liked it so much.

I’ll make this short and sweet. 1) Packed & touristy… go figure, it’s right next to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. 2) Ordinary pub food. The burger may possibly be the best thing to order. 3) Great view of Big Ben from downstairs at the bar. My point: Don’t eat here. Just have a drink at the bar downstairs, admire Big Ben from behind the glass, and be on your way.

This pub is literally across the street from Big Ben/Parliament and Westminster Abby, but is kind of hidden which explains the few reviews. There’s only a single door that faces the main street — everything else is happening out of sight. Theres a big, front bar. Small, back bar. And a second floor for eating. Built in the 1770’s, it has old school charm but is also adorned with photos and press clippings from the last 100 years of govt… Llyod George & Winston to Maggie to Blair and Gordon. Most surprising to me was the prices were normal, despite it being in the epicenter of tourists and politics. Drinks were a few quid and they were offering Sunday roast for under 10(didn’t eat). Super friendly staff. This could easily pass for a local pub if it weren’t for the fact that the governing of the British Empire happens across the street(and possibly in this pub between votes).
