Mediocre place. I did not like my stay here because of the cold food and unfriendly staff.

I really miss the old ownership of Plan 9. It used to be my favourite food place ever and now it’s changed ownership it’s not the same. The bacon french toast was my favourite, but they also had great spelt bread, milkshakes made of real gingerbread, amazing smoothies, a can-do attitude of making food any way you want it, and a whole selection of American treats which felt almost healthy cos they were culturally different — marshmallow fluff(no fat just buckets of sugar!) and strange cheese-filled straws — yum. I loved the American diner feel — a little slice of Happy Days — and the fridge magnet which said«I’ll have a café vodka mocha marijuana latte to go please.» I miss the deckchairs in summer. And the lovely staff :-( (and it was Americana in an off-beat non-chain kind of way). Bring back Kaye and the old Plan 9 style!(and the bacon)

This place is so hit or miss. While promoted as and owned by a ex pat from America, the food doesn’t remind me of home. French Toast, is amazing and would recommend for any visitor of the restaurant. Huevos Rancheros, probably one of the worst recipes I have ever had. Stay away from any sort of hash browns — it actually has a odd frozen taste that I assume is not good for ones health.

What a lovely treat in the middle of Maida Vale. So humble and so delicious… they are not even mentioning anywhere that they are doing gluten-free sandwiches and cake(or not that I noticed… and I looked HARD). It seems like they are taking it for granted that they provide a gluten-free option and that’s why they receive 4 stars from me. Staff is genuinely nice, how very refreshing. It was a little chilly when I was there last, so stayed inside and kept my coat on. Next time: Will be trying out the outside seating as they provide blankets(how very Scandinavian of them).

Often go here for weekend Brunches. Really good veggie fry-up, top quality ingredients, and the coffee is very good too. Only downside is that it is a badly kept secret — meaning there are often queues outside for tables, and you’ll have to wait for your food. Grab a paper and look forward to a tasty treat!

Oh how this has fallen. I don’t know what’s happened, but the standards have dropped to the point at which we’ve decided not to go and eat here any more. We went last Saturday and ordered classic fry-ups, only to be sat waiting for an age and then be served up with lukewarm food that tasted bland, and in some parts, quite revolting. I’d still pop in for a milkshake, but as for the food, not a chance. The staff here are just clueless, don’t give a damn and have forgotten how to be nice to their customers.

I absolutely adore this place. Im in here almost every other day… but usually each tuesday. Tuesdays are Plan 9’s pancake day and im so glad to have found a place that makes real pancakes like back home(I was getting sick of all these stupid thin crepes that people insist on calling pancakes). The place is quite small so its prob not the best idea to go right at lunch time during the week or breakfast time on the weekends because they get insanely busy ddespite this though they are always nice and the service is always quite quick.

Cosy and friendly, a nice place for a morning coffee and scrambled eggs. A great little local where I have seen a few regulars who go there after tennis.

A really nicely done place that is really well thought out. It is themed around being a modern science fiction place with lots of cool gadgets, decoration and certainly cooler than a Starbucks. The owner is really nice to regulars and says hi to many of them with real affection and that is what gives it they fifth star ! Whether it is inside or outside it is great place to just hang out and be, you can see the effort they have put in and it has really worked out. It has also greatly improved over the last year and a half since they opened so it has gone from good to great. They seem to have made their coffees the same price as the local deli and this makes them even more attractive now as they used to be a bit more expensive. Also the service has improved as they used to have some staff working there when the owner was not around. The owner seems to be around more so the service is now second to none and really nice. The cakes are nice and apparently they come direct from the bakers, they should emphasise this more though in their labelling because I did not know this until they told me. Anyway, a nice place that definitely adds to the area.
