Scrambled eggs with toast was surprising good. Simple but tasty! The food selection is quite limited and it is pricey for what you get. Service can be improved.

I went to eat breakfast with my girlfriend on a Sunday morning! We arrived to the restaurant just after opening and almost the whole restaurant was full! There was an empty table just next to the front door! It took a while for the waiter to show up at our table but finnaly he made it! The menu is clear and served all day which is good! We ordered 2 latte and some toast with scrambled eggs with scones for desert! After 10 minites we’ve got our coffees — a cappuccino and a black filter coffee! It wasn’t what we ordered but seeing how slow is the service I didn’t want to wait another 15 minutes for my originally ordered drinks! The coffees were just warm and after 10 minutes were cold already! Although we arrived earlier than some other tables they have been served before us! Really annoying considering that they ordered the same food(toast and egg)! The food was satisfactory quality and the portions were big enough! The restaurant was pretty busy the time being when we were there and probably too many tables for one waiter but this service ruined our experience of having breakfast together on a Sunday morning! I guess we are not the only one who feel the same about the service! Such a same to provide such a poor service here because the location and the atmosphere is really good! I hope they will take this complaint/review seriously and take action to provide better service!

–never managed to make it to Peter de Wit’s while I lived in Greenwich, so I was quite glad to have finally eaten there on my last trip to town. Although this place is located in the HEART of the touristy bit of town, I hadn’t the impression that the café was either for tourists, per se, or heavily visited by tourists. Well that was the case, at least, when I visited. The café was fairly empty and I, on a sunny afternoon, had the cosy back patio(24-tops and 12-top) all to myself. I had traipsed in on a Saturday and was met by a few staff members chatting amongst themselves. There were no customers in sight and I almost had the impression that I was walking in on a staff meeting. I was bade to sit where I like and told that someone would be right with me. The interaction was both friendly and informal. PdW’s menu read that breakfast was served ‘all day’, and, although that sounded intriguing, I wasn’t keen on a fry-up, veggie or otherwise, and opted for a bowl of tomato soup(soup of the day, to be precise). For five quid, I was treated to a decent portion of fairly flavorful soup with toast and butter on the side. A Meantime ale washed it all down. As the day was warm and my perch out back lovely, I didn’t mind the seemingly long wait for the bowl of soup. Perhaps, soup is heated up per order? –don’t know, but, again, I was happy to wait. After the meal, I went in to pay and waited at the counter for some time while the gals in the partially-obscured kitchen carried on a rather lively and personal conversation. –didn’t mind, but I found it interesting that the mirror mounted on the kitchen wall giving them a few of the floor(and me a bit of a view of them) wasn’t being put into use. I had to reposition myself and give a throat-clear in order to get some attention. The cakes and scones on display looked lovely and I certainly wish that I could pop back in for a sweet treat and a cup of joe(aeropress-2.00/filter-1.50). –next visit, perhaps.

Saturday, parents here, Dad gets up at 6am regardless of the day, so naturally by 9am you’re looking for a way to get out the house. Well if I’m not getting a Saturday lie-in, I’m getting brunch! Found this little place in Greenwich, busy at 10.30am so good start there. Typical breakfast menu of middle class café. We had tea each and got a generous helping, nothing worse than having just 1 cup of tea with food ;) we all had full English(or vegetarian variation) and got served nice portion of decent food; thin sausages an crispy bacon with nicely fried eggs yum. Slightly swimming in oil, less yum. And wholemeal toast, love a granary bread. Only 3 star for the price — £9 per breakfast even in Greenwich is overpriced for the standard. Good service, airy place, average food.

Sitting in a small café in central Greenwich. Pot of Earl Grey. Two scones with jam. Plus a book. I love this wonderful place, though I only ever order scones, tea or the English breakfast. Oh and I usually have one of their homemade cakes(the chocolate is particularly good). The back garden is lovely in the summer, the trellis plants providing shade and the high walls creating a quiet space — surprising given its main road location. The clientele is a mixture of students and tourists, plus the occasional local. It’s just a shame that it closes at 6, though it does sometimes open later again for the jazz nights

Appalling service(it took the waitress 15 minutes to even acknowledge me; and far longer to serve the food or deliver the bill), truly disgusting coffee, menu largely limited to the English breakfast. Very disappointing.

This place is such a let down every time you go through its tiny doors. First time I went in there the waitress was so annoying and loud. Making me not order food so i could vacate the area! The tables are always dirty too and the prices are a joke. £5 for a tiny BLT. It had one and a half slices of bacon in it. And what’s with the polystyrene on the walls? Is that supposed to be art? They need to buck there ideas up. A shabby place.

Everyone asks me what I think of Peter De Wit’s. Everyone. It’s something of a Greenwich institution. But until recently, I’d not been here. I have no idea why, it just wasn’t on my radar. I have a vague recollection of breakfast here about five years ago, but that’s it(and I’m not sure if that’s even the same place, so let’s move on from that). How have I not been to one of the most popular cafes in Greenwich? Especially when I’ve met the guys who run the place at parties, and they’re lovely? Well, one of the reasons is that it’s busy. It’s damn popular. And often full. But it’s not like Greenwich is short of a decent café or twelve. But then I came, I enjoyed and I’d come back. I liked the cake, I liked tea pot of tea, I’m coveting their blue glossy dining chairs so much that I imagined how I’d steal them for a good ten minutes. I’m not thrilled that it’s so expensive(not paying £8 for breakfast, not ever). But if you’re there for the jazz, you get jazz and bangers and mash for a tenner. I’d come for that, the food is good. Otherwise you’ll find me having a cuppa, reading a book and really rather enjoying it here. I’ve got a new café to play in when Greenwich is rainy. I’m happy.

Very small but cosy, often with live Jazz playing, it’s a great spot to pop in for a coffee and dessert!
