Apparently this is the restaurant where they film the Uk tv series«first date»! Came here for dinner and the service was very good. I had the Bavette and chips with peppercorn sauce. The chips and peppercorn sauce were phenomenal! The chips was creamy and the right amount of salty and the peppercorn sauce a nice addition for the steak and chips. The bavette could have been better, it was a little chewy. The food was 4 stars but I’m giving the restaurant 3 stars for the dirty washrooms as well as the fact that I ordered a decaf cappuccino and what they gave me resembled more of a latte.

We visited Paternoster for Sunday lunch with free flowing fizz. I started with the mackerel. Presented as a salad, it was a good sized portion with a nice bit of mackerel. Next I had the roast lamb, the lamb was delicious and served with lots of veg and a Yorkshire pud. The only thing that let it down was that the Yorkshire was over cooked. To finish I had passionfruit parfait which was nice and sweet with a slightly hard bit of ice cream, still delicious. Throughout our lunch they topped up our prosecco glasses, sometimes I had to ask and you had to wait a bit for a new one to arrive. I can’t complain though as we managed 8 glasses each for the sum Of £10(I don’t even think you could buy it from the shop for that). A nice touch was that as they we mentioned it was our birthdays they decorated our plates with happy birthday and gave my friend some free chocolate truffles as she didn’t order a desert. At £20 for 2 dishes and £25 for 3 with an extra £2.50 for the roasts. It was definitely good value for money. I will be back to beat 8!

Excellent for their Sunday Roast«Beast of the Day» Beef. Staff were very nice with excellent service. Wonderful roast potatoes served on the side so no chance of them getting soggy on the plate with the beef(and lashings of real gravy, more like a jus than the usual rubbish served all over everything in pubs and the like). We’ll definitely be back soon.

I would definitely eat here again, although I think I would go for the BEEF next time. I wasn’t hungry for a giant slab of beef, so I decided on some lobster, and some pork pie. Both were great, but the beef loaded on other diners’ tables looked divine. I think there are actually more scenic places to eat in London. Paternoster’s square, while right by St. Paul’s, didn’t really strike me as the best view. But, the location is great, and it is easy to take a nice post-meal stroll over the millenium bridge.

The last of the summer sun shining down on us, with a tango demonstration twirling it’s way around the square, if it wasn’t for the impressive visage of St. Paul’s looming over us I would have sworn I was sitting on a Medditerranean palazzo. The food was equal to the setting, with all four of us devouring our dishes with supreme gusto. My beef was especially good, the beetroot and horseradish perfectly complimenting the delightfully rare galloway beef, the free glass of champagne(thank you evening standard) went down a treat and the wine was superb(if a little pricey)! I’m guessing there are better places to go for a night of drinking, but few better for a fine boozy lunch!

= /If you want a drink after work there are better places than this. Expensive and not really worth your money. Only plus is it has a great view and location.

Excellent traditional English food with a really good wine list, nice airy ambience and a great level of service. We’ve had the a la carte meals here but also several deal menus from Lastminute and every time its been exceptional.

So was gefällt mir ja gut.

If you can get a table outside it’s a great place to eat and people-watch. Food is good and often has dishes you’ll not have considered(e.g. gull’s eggs) but they do tend to over-salt food.

A good restaurant, but not worth the cost unless you just like the feel of living large. It’s only a few years old, so is very clean, very modern. Caters to large groups with lots of big tables in a single big room. Looks out onto the renovated Paternoster Square, adjacent to St Paul’s Cathedral. It all makes for a fancy, busy, high-profile location. The menu has, as the other review says, lots of meat. If you want game, lamb hotpots, Cornish bass, rosemary roast potatoes, parsnip soup, cabbage & apple saladwell, you get the idea: big, warming, roasted country foods. It might be the kind of place to take your dad on his birthday(just don’t let him see the bill). They have a separate Sunday roast menu that changes seasonally(see the web page) which I think gets a little closer to value for money: from £16 for two courses, or from £20 for three, and there’s a lot of choice. Still not cheap as chips, but the quality and choice is top-notch(for carnivores).

With a name like«Chop House» and phrases such as «freshly butchered» and«beast of the day» it comes as no surprise that this is a restaurant definitely for meat lovers. Nestling in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral, on the newly renovated Paternoster Square, the restuarant is a single, large dining space with a small number of tables outside. The décor is functional & modern. The food is OK — I had a Roast Pork dish and my companion Braised Duck. But a main course with side order and water only, come out at about £30 a head. So quite pricey for what most would consider a reasonably standard roast meal.
