A standard City spot for after work drinks — I popped in(*ahem* crashed) a friend of a friend’s birthday on a packed-out Friday eve. She’d sensibly reserved a table — which I highly recommend you do too, even if it’s just for drinks. But the layout of the area they’d given her was long and narrow and not the best for mingling in a group. And that’s before you add the deafening music. Ok now I just sound old! It’s not the place for a catch up though, nor interesting décor(bar the lyrical steps on your way out), nor memorable drinks(nor phone signal in case you need to update anyone). However if you’re looking for a happy hour that runs til 7.30pm and couldn’t care less about it having character then this might be your bag.

We went in on a Tuesday evening as we were looking for a place with Happy Hour in the area. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday evening in January, but the place was empty, bar another table. Nevertheless, we stayed and the experience was quite ok. We took up their Happy Hour offer(until 7:30pm) of 50% off wine and 50% off bar food. 2 bottles of house red wine and a chicken platter for £30 was not bad indeed. Though lacking in atmosphere due to very few patrons, the staff were lovely and the chicken platter was quite delicious! I’ll endeavour to make it back again for a busier evening but don’t let the lack of people put you off, as I think later on in the week or if it wasn’t January, this place would be much busier!

Hot and stuffy basement bar and seating area, horrible service, disgusting cocktails, DJ won’t entertain any song requests, were literally asked to almost WHISPER when stood outside the entrance in paltry smoking section. I have worked and entertained clients in the St Paul’s area for many years now and this is the first time I have been told that it was a residential area and to keep noise down. Rude bouncers. Urge you never to go here, it’s tacky, loud, can’t hear yourself think and once you are finally served, your wallet will be left with a very big hole in it.

Easily my favourite Friday after work watering hole. Good doormen who show quite a lot of patience as the night wears on :) the music is great. Happy hours not long enough but good while it lasts. Bar staff can either be fun or miserable depending on who’s working. The crowd is a good mix and generally this place isn’t that well known which is great and maybe why I’m a bit hesitant about giving it such a good review. Bottom line, I love this place and so does everyone I’ve introduced to it that isn’t a ‘sit in the pub and moan about life’ type of person.

Always enjoy their watermelon martini! Only found this drink in two cocktail Bar in london so far. Love it! They are great for a quiet lunch with friends too. But the evening will get very busy with regular event. But I tried to host a event there 3 years ago, but their management team is not flexible for a deal at all. So if u want to host big company event here, u r better just take it Or leave it.

A bit surprised this place doesn’t have more reviews actually. I guess it’s better as a local little secret… Basement bar so not so obvious to everyone I guess. Anyway, I loved the vibe, music(with a proper DJ playing) and very accommodating staff. When I went with a friend it was not fully packed but very busy. The bar staff were quick to take orders and made excellent drinks. Will definitely go several times!

I stopped in at lunch time for some tapas as the venue listed an intriguing deal outside. Unfortunately, tapas were not served until later in the day; however, Patch offered seven or eight lunchtime items for £4. I tried the Brie and Caramelized Onions Wrap per recommendation of the server. It was fair for the price and came with fries, so there were no complaints about the value. I wouldn’t hesitate to return during a cocktail hour when it would be more appropriate to try a house drink along with some tapas — two items Patch seems to specialize in.

Patch is located in a lovely little City backstreet, full of the character which the bar itself so sadly lacks. Music, drinks, prices, food and décor are all completely and utterly standard. There is literally nothing to mark out this place as remotely different from any of the hundreds of forgettable establishments littering London. The service is fine and the clientele. .. well, standard. It’s the kind of bar that you might consider to be a half-decent venue for an evening of forced entertainment but which you would never choose to patronise out of choice. In a spectacularly quirky and characterful city, full of imaginative little gems simply begging for your custom, it’s baffling how such charmless places as this actually survive. It’s not that Patch is unpleasant or bad in any way. .. it’s just such a waste of an evening to spend it here when you could be literally anywhere else.

The Happy Hour is 5 – 7 with offers on wines, champagnes, spirits and cocktails as well as our fabulous Sharing Slates, so Patch is a nice place to meet after work. Your best reserving a little table through their website though, that way you can put your coats and bags down. Music is OK and gets turned up a little later in the evening. Only been there till 7:30/9pm max. Nice starter for a long evening out. You’ll not get reception on your phone though as the main bar is downstair so make sure your party is with you.

Yeah, like trinalynskey says, it’s a bit of a generic city bar — although I did quite like the décor — in a slightly less lively part of town. But, it does do grrreat cocktails. My cocktail waitress really took her time over our Mohitos and they tasted all the better too. And they were at Happy Hour prices. Bargain.

Hard to rate. Ok it’s a generic city bar with a ‘modern’ look. Think cube leather stools and banquettes. It’s in a basement so it is dark. However, it has the most amazing coctail happy hour fro 5 – 7 everyday. I rate it as having some of the best cocktails in London. They do a great job. £3 between 5 and 7pm. Also half price bottles of wine which are a bargain purchase at 18.55. They do food and stuff too. Sister bars Clause & Pause offer the same deal.
