Das Essen und auch die Bedienung haben 5 Sterne verdient. Das Ambiente ist leider 1 Stern Abzug wert.

A very short walk from our hotel, and what delightful food. We had sea bass that was tasty, tender and perfect. Served with French fries(or chips, as they say here in London) and a salad. The salad was ok.

Ever have one of those days where you get off work, sprint to catch the bus, only to find you’ve gotten on the wrong one and need to get off? This was the situation which confronted me this evening; however, I realized that soon the bus would pass by ‘Masters of the SuperFish’, a shop I have been meaning to try for ages, and I could get takeaway and walk home afterwards. However, when confronted with the menu I flaked out and ordered skate wings. Now, I have caught skate by mistake many a time while deep sea fishing and never once decided to keep it, but for some reason this evening I said, ‘what the heck’ and ordered it. This is a mistake that I made so that you won’t have to– let’s just say that maybe if one was sitting down with a fork and knife it could potentially have been a decent choice, but in case there was any lingering doubt, as an on-the-road takeaway, skate is not a recommended choice. Price was very very reasonable, chips were good and freshly made, service was quick and no-nonsense.

This will always be my go to spot when I am in town. It really is a local gem that doesn’t look very nice outside but truly made up for it in value and quality. When I discovered this place there was a takeout line going outside full of locals(including police and if you see police eating there you know it’s good) and I shared a table with an older Londoner who was very nice and even gave me tips about London. The shrimp and bread was a bit strange but the fish and chips were everything you would expect from a proper fish n chips place. Huge portions for a great value makes this place the best fish n chips place in London.

Came seeking fish & chips in London and glad we chose this place. Very nice staff and simple but straightforward food. Ordered cod & chips with mushy peas and English tea, finished everything on the plate. Price was down to earth as well. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for fish & chips.

5 stars for the food, 1 star for the rude service, but it’s sort of our fault. Disclaimer: I don’t have much experience eating in London, and am not used to separate lines for takeaway vs dining in. Upon entering the building, there’s a small counter with a chalkboard menu and a door off to the right that opens into a room with seating. As a naïve American, I assumed that customers order at the counter, and then take their food to the adjoining room to eat. We ordered the Master’s special which was posted on the chalkboard and 10 minutes later we were handed a hot steaming bundle of freshly fried fish and chips, wrapped in paper, with the grease just starting to ooze out. We took the bundle and entered the dining room, but the guy behind the counter yelled at us to get out, saying that our order was for takeaway only. We pleaded ignorance and offered to pay the difference, but the dude shook his head and pointed towards the door. It was pouring rain when we arrived, but fortunately, it stopped. We stood outside in the 45 degree(8 Celcius?) cold and ate the fish and chips. I have a big appetite, but I have to say that a single order was enough to fill both of us up. It was an enormous amount of grease, but the fish was super flaky and tasty, and the chips were large and crisp. Perhaps the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. However, being forced to eat outside standing in the cold really detracted from the experience, but it is kind of memorable in its own way.

As all the other reviews state, they prepare fish and chips to perfection. The batter is crispy and not greasy, and it’s served piping hot — we got it within minutes of it coming out of the frier. We ordered one plate of the fish and chips and one of the fried calamari. The calamari was cooked perfectly; tender and not chewy at all. Also, considering how large the portions were, the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant and its décor were nothing special, and the servers aren’t out of their way friendly, but they don’t need to be. They do their job of serving you delicious fish and chips and they do it very well. If you’re looking to indulge in this British classic, it’d be worth your while to drop by this place!

Large portions. Had takeaway so cant comment on dining in. Everything was freshly cooked so nice and crispy. Had 2 try the english fish and chips and the was a good option. Cheap too…5£ for a regular size 6£ for the giant sized cod. Good deal

A great no nonsense fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. The portions are HUGE and always cooked perfectly; crispy batter with no soggy bits, perfectly flakey fish and lightly browed thick-cut chips. They are without a doubt 10⁄10 and I’ve eaten this English delicacy in most places around the UK. The price is also really reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. The restaurant area is great in my opinion. Completely basic, but it adds to the authenticity of the greasy spoon feel and after all you’re coming here for the food and not a 5 star dining experience. Last time I went for a takeaway and the man serving me was an absolute grump, but who cares, this is a chippy love, not The Ivy. If you go without any expectations and just eat it’s a great place. This may sound strange to tourists, but the British relationship with fish and chips calls for this kind of low key delivery. For something that used to be eaten out of old newspaper sheets(the hot oil would allow toxic ink to seep into the food) anything too fine would somehow spoil the tradition. What I also like is that the customers really vary from locals to workmen to post theatre goers in the evenings so it’s actually a great atmosphere and always packed. It has a big following. The only reason I knocked one star off is because they have a sign proclaiming that they fry in ground nut oil and yet you can clearly see giant vats of vegetable oil behind the counter. Peanut oil is a healthier choice compared to commercial use veg oil, which is usually a blend of all sorts of yak. But once in a while, these are some of the best fish ‘n’ chips going south of the river.

Excellent fish and chips! The best I have tasted. I am visiting from USA and this is must to try staple food of Brits. It’s not fancy place and I ordered take out but I loved the authenticity and quality. I love meeting local Brits. You have to try it if you visit London.

I am constrained to give a 3 star review mainly because of the dish I ordered. I couldn’t decide which fish to get so I went with the pieces of different types. What a mistake, I ended up with mostly batter and in some cases no discernible fish inside. Otherwise, the staff were lovely and the portions huge. Pickles were a nice touch. Next time I will try the grilled cod. Otherwise, I liked the local atmosphere and will give it another try soon.

This place is a few blocks from the Waterloo station. Easy walk :) Had their lunch special and it was thumbs up! It was a HUGE piece of fish, perfectly deep fried. Super crispy — without a doubt they fry it when you order. I watched them from my seat. Service was good — very attentive. Restaurant was clean and had strong a/c(strong a/c is rare in London). Great value and food.

disclaimers: *i was warned by friends to not try fish and chips in the UK. *masters super fish had pretty high ratings on Unilocal which made me want to try it even more. *asian staff anywhere around the world are the same. rude and unfriendly.(i can say this because i am asian and i’ve experienced bad service at many asian restaurants in my day). so with that being said there was an asian female staff that totally was rude and unfriendly. dislikes: *flat room temperature coke *the cold shrimp they give you *service was pretty awful. ordered: *fish and chip(cod) — 7.50 — thick cut fries with no seasoning. personally i prefer shoestring fries and yes i know fish and chips in the UK is thick cut. just wished there was some type of seasoning. fish was a little crispy on the outside edges besides that it was a bit oily and also lacked flavor. putting ketchup on it definitely helped a great deal! overall, i came into masters super fish with no to little expectations. i walked out somehow still disappointed because i really wanted to be proven wrong. i really wanted to like it. tips: *they have a take out window and an actual restaurant *cash *serves alcohol *has a kids menu *no wifi *restroom is available for customers. *indoor seating only

The service was awful! When we got our food and had eaten, another large group came in to the restaurant. My daughter went to the counter and asked for our check so we could leave after a long day of sightseeing. The waitress was rude and refused to give her the check saying she was very busy. The grilled halibut was not good. Would not recommend it!

I don’t like fish and chips, but my friend really wanted to try fish and chips in London, so I searched up a place on Unilocal, and we decided to try Masters given its great reviews and proximity to the London Eye(which we had wanted to ride later that evening). I still don’t like fish and chips, but if you do, I’d absolutely recommend Masters Super Fish. Really low prices, very fresh fish, and enormous portions. My friend and I split the cod and chips, and we didn’t finish. They also bring out some cold shrimp to start, which we didn’t eat, but I thought it was a nice touch. It also seems to be more of a local spot than a tourist one. I’m not sure if the guys next to us were just pulling our legs, but they were really amused to see us there and hear us speak(since we were clearly not British). They told us they’d been coming here weekly for 15 years and this was really a local spot, so they wondered how we had found it(thank you, Unilocal!).

Coming to London, I really wanted to try authentic fish and chips and see what all the craze was about. This place popped up on Unilocal as one of the top places for the specific dish. It’s a small little restaurant, not too far from the Waterloo station. You walk in and seat yourself. Service leaves much to be desired. They weren’t particularly rude, just not friendly. When we sat down, the waiter gruffly asked«What do you want,» and when we inquired about the food, he just pointed to the menu. We never felt offended, just taken aback by his gruffness. Now for the dish. There are two types of fish you can choose from. My companion and I decided to split the traditional cod. So glad we did because the fish was HUGE. Even after sharing, we couldn’t finish the food. The batter of the fish had a nice solid crunch and was surprisingly not greasy! However, I thought the fish was bland and nothing extraordinary. Maybe I’m just not a fan of fish and chips?

Best fish and chips I ever had. A must stop. I got the masters special. My husband and I were able to get full off of it with chips remaining. Loved the pickles. Food is definitely good. Makes up for the not so friendly waitress. She was getting frustrated with us and asked if we were ready to order yet when she never came to say hello or even offered to get us our drinks. I didn’t know it was a bother to have customers. If service was better, definitely a 5 star joint.

I ordered the mixed fish and chips plate. The serving was huge and I couldn’t finish it all so I asked them if I could get my left overs for takeaway. My waitress was actually pretty rude and gave me faces when I asked for this option. Maybe it’s not so common to ask for a to-go box in the UK, but I didn’t think the attitude was necessary. I thought the fish was pretty good, but the chips were not so great. This is a good place to just try fish and chips when visiting London, but I wouldn’t highly recommend for regular eats.

I’ve not had and fish n chips elsewhere in the UK, but this is easily one of the best fish n chips I’ve ever had. I had the cod. It was thick and super flakey! The chips were crunchy on the outside, but thick n meaty on the inside. It’s not a pub, it’s not a fancy restaurant. The people here are nice though, and the food(a lot of it) makes up for anything else!

We went here because our taxi driver recommended it. The ambiance isn’t the greatest but the fish and chips were good. I can’t remeber which fish I ordered but i think it might be the master special. Huge piece of fish. It’s a huge piece that still had skin on one side so I think it might be fresh fish. The batter is so crispy and fluffy looking. My fish stayed crispy til the end. I’m not sure what fish they used but it was s nice white fish that was not fishy. It tasted almost creamy

Had this place on my list so wanted to check it out for myself and glad I did. Lunchtime special of fish and chips(choice of cod, haddock and others) plus cup of tea. £6.95 The chalkboard menu has sea bass, plaice and other fish served with ½ chips and ½ salad and didn’t even study the rest of the menu but noticed desserts on there too. There’s a takeaway counter on entry and sit down café through the doors. Complimentary very fresh bread & butter and prawns — much appreciated thanks. My cod and chips was just right for a lunch portion(not too massive) and really one of the best I’ve had. First off, the fish. The batter here is the more substantial and crunchy kind which I like best and the fish inside was just perfectly cooked, I mean perfect. What does that mean? It means, first that it’s super fresh and second that it’s cooked to exactly the right point where the white flesh quivers into gentle, super moist flakes, against crunchy, ungreasy, flavourful batter. A culinary match made in heaven when it’s just right. Further bonus that the cod is skinless which I like. Chips had just the right size, texture and light crispiness on the outside, yielding on the inside. and…pickles(gherkins and onions) and sauce boats of tartar sauce and ketchup are offered to help yourself on the side. Never ketchup for me on fish and chips, just plenty of salt and vinegar. The tartar sauce was good. Almost forgot… a proper pot of tea and jug of milk round the whole thing off. What more could a guy want? So simple so great, such good value for £6.95. If you want fancy dining and ambience, go elsewhere. If you want honest to goodness food and no BS, come here.

Looking for an authentic fish and chips experience, we trekked out to Master’s in hopes of golden crispy batter and crunchy chips. Did not find that at Master’s. The fried coating turned soggy after about a minute and the chips were too starchy and dense.

Tolles Fish&Chips-Restaurant. Sehr leckerer Fisch. Tolle Pickles. Gute Preise. Neben dem Restaurant gibt es alle Gerichte auch — sehr günstig — zum Mitnehmen!
