I came here 3 times. First time: absolutely great(didn’t have to pay) 2nd time: ok, sat outside, very loud since they always have street artists right next to it but that’s also quite interesting to watch 3rd time: hmmm. I might not be back. The food was good all 3 times but it is pricey and the third time I was not at all impressed with the service. They forgot our sides and when we said we don’t want dessert they put the bill on the table immediately. It wasn’t overly busy or something so no reason to get rid of us that quickly… Didn’t feel very welcome and will probably not be back very soon.

A nice spot to enjoy a pizza or stew with a cup of tea, and a cigar after. Ahh.

Plonked right in the centre of tourist-ville and the sun was shining so why not grab some lunch? We were seated on the patio and things are off to a good start — I ordered the goat cheese and beet salad along with the cheesy garlic bread . Everything was tolerable and, aside from a few server errors things went well. Nothing to write home about but not atrocious either. Overall I’d certainly go back if I was in the area and hungry or in need of a glass of wine, would it be my destination? No but it works.

Nothing about fuel relly stands out but neither is it offensive in any way. There’s a standard cocktail list and the usual drinks selection and nothing really costs too much either.

Dont bother… move on… neeeeext! Rubbish coffee, rubbish service — clearly only survive due to volume of passing trade!

I tend to go to Fuel for after work drinks, which it is great for especially happy hour which is two for one cocktails. However eating on a Saturday was horrendous. Service was quick and food was terribly average(even for just pizzas) but it was terribly overpriced and our pitchers of cocktails had no alcohol in. For three people having a main, it came to £98 due to the compulsory service charge that was put on our bill. Great view of the piazza and atmosphere but there are MUCH better places in London to spend that sort of money!

Tourist trap(but to be expected in Covent Garden). Tables are all a bit too close together. The waiting staff are keen to get you in and out as fast as possible. Food was ok.

Jet lag and delayed luggage fiasco marked my last trip to Blighty. And having a bad dinner experience is the last on my to-do list. After a long day of giving my first-timer friend a walking tour of London, I ended up at Fuel to meet up with another friend. She ordered the penne carbonara and it was loaded with pancetta. Being the bacon junkie that I am, I asked for the same thing. Sooo, just imagine my disappointment when my dinner arrived and there were only 5 small strips of pancetta on a flavorless bed of pasta. It was ridiculous! My friend savored a piece of bacon on every bite while I turned into a green-eyed monster craving for that precious morsel of meat that I didn’t have. How dare Fuel tease me the way they did? They need to be consistent with their portions.

It’s a bit embarrassing why I’m rating this one so highly; about nine months ago I had a very big night out with a mate of mine, the majority of which was spent at Fuel(as was the majority of my cash). To be honest I don’t remember much about the night(as you may imagine) but that’s not the reason for the review… Last weekend I was enjoying various bars in the London sunshine and we found ourselves back at Fuel — in a much better state than before, I hasten to add! The reason for the review is this: the barman, Billy, greeted my mate and I like long-lost friends. He didn’t remember our names(that would have been asking too much) but he did remember some of the things we talked to him about before(not all good, I have to say), but most importantly he remembered which drinks we liked, and he gave us great sevice all the while we were there. I’m a huge fan of good customer service, and this example really shines for me. The reason I’m only giving four stars is that the bar is quite crowded, so there wasn’t too much room to breathe, but I’d go back for the service every time. If you go, say hello to Billy for me!

Walked around in one huge circle and needed something to eat and drink ASAP! Saw several people eating pizzas and salads in the outdoor area and thought that’s exactly what I need! Ordered my 1st Pimms Cocktail for season and and a Mushroom & Ham Pizza. Sadly the pizza was tasteless. My drink hit the spot, but after I left I saw a teenager carrying a Pizza Hut box and wish I would’ve gone there instead.

This is only worth a stop if you are looking for a few drinks on their outdoor patio on a beautiful but rare sunny London day. Otherwise, do not bother! There are plenty of great restaurants near by — even Pizza Express is much better than the crappy, bland overpriced food that they serve here.

While strolling through Covent Garden looking for somewhere to have a bit of a catch up, we noticed that there were quite a few empty tables at Fuel. The sun was shining and it was wonderfully warm so we figured there were worse places to go and at least we could take in the Covent Garden atmosphere while having a bite to eat and a chat. When we arrived we were sat at a tiny two person table next to a table of chain smokers. When we asked if we could move to one of the other tables, our request was quickly refused as they said it might get busy(despite the fact that every other 4 person table was taken up with single and couple diners…) Literally as we sat down, another member of staff came over and asked if we’d like to order. When we politely explained that we hadn’t even opened the menus yet, we were treated with a grunt and were then ignored for the next 15 minutes. The menu is nothing mind-blowing with pretty ordinary fare: pizza, pasta, salads and the like. We went for the pesto pomodoro bread to start and then salads for main(I went with chicken, bacon and avocado while my friend had the duck.) Although we asked for the bread to come at the same time as the salads, it in fact arrived a good 10 minutes beforehand and every time we tried to get a member of staff’s attention, their heads sadly turned in the other direction. Having said that, the bread was pretty good with a healthy amount of both tomato and pesto and was probably the highlight of the meal. When the salads finally arrived, I’m sorry to say that neither of us were particularly impressed. The sun-dried tomatoes in my salad have left an oily taste that is still with me 4 hours later. The chicken was clearly from a packet and the bacon was closed to being deep-fried. My friend’s salad was no better with large chunks of rather dry looking duck and green beans that didn’t so much squeak when bitten into but squealed. The meal, including two soft drinks, came to £46. Unfortunately it’s hard to eat for much less in such a location but for two poor salads and a large piece of bread, it certainly left a sour, oily taste in my mouth.

What happens when two people walk into an empty bar /restaurant with six members of staff on duty? Answer, you get stared at until you feel uncomfortable enough to want to leave. Welcome to fuel, on a Tuesday evening. This place has one of the coolest locations in Covent Garden, it’s in the market, with an upstairs view, but you pay for the location with a limited selection of overpriced drinks, unfriendly staff and nachos that come with hummus? It may né just me but what usually accompanies salsa and guacamole is sour cream, not hummus and olives! Maybe I need to be educated in these ways, but cheese and hummus is something I would rather avoid in the future. Overall, a disappointing, overpriced, experience.

The venue is a tourist trap but on a Friday after work cocktails are £10 for a jug with wine and beer at a discounted rate until 8:00 which is a great place to head after work before heading out to the clubs. Can get busy in the summer but we have always found a seat in the winter months. Good central place to meet up in nice weather with cheap drinks during happy hour if you don’t fancy heading underground to nearby Dirty Martinis(that also have happy hour deals).

I’m not a huge fan of many of the eateries in Covent Garden, finding many of them rather lacklustre and soulless. Fuel, unfortunately, is one of these places. Sure, it’s not at all horrendous, but I just find it a bit… generic. The food is OK, however — decent but predictable pizzas, OK coffees and a reasonable range of desserts. If you’re hungry and in the area, sure, check it out, but only if you don’t have the time or energy to find somewhere better!

I’ve noticed over time that Fuel is located on a particularly windy intersection at Covent Garden Piazza. Its best enjoyed outdoors on a really sunny and hot day, so just for a couple of months in the summer. The fare is similar to Pontis, another place that does pizzas, pastas and salads but on a more sheltered corner. The whole point of eating in Covent Garden is to take in the ambiance, so I don’t really see the point of eating inside. Int he summer though, its pleasantly crowded with sun-lovers and other cults. The coffee, pizza and salad are all pretty good, in descending order of quality.

I enjoyed Fuel, sitting in the basement with my girlfriends. We were celebrating to a successful presentation and our optimism did not let us down. I love the dingy sense of ambience to the place and the little corner spaces where you can sit in a small group is sure cosy. The food is not anything special from other places. With a standard café menu and a bar, but what you can come for is the feel of being in the basement under Covent Garden Piazza. Its just vibrant enough to life your spirits and feels very historic.

Have only been here to eat, and it’s alright. Fuel serves salads, pizzas, and pasta. the menu is simple, with the sort of dishes you’d expect in a not quite authentic Italian theme menu. A friend and I went for the meat filled pizza figaro– milano salami, parma ham, pepperoni, anchoves, cherry tomatoes, goats cheese, red onion and olives. It was fine, except I think I was put off a bit as we were sat outside, it got a bit too nippy, and we were constantly holding onto our bags in fear that they would sneakily be taken. It’s all well that the outside seating is right next to all the street performances, but if you’re trying to enjoy a meal and a rather bad, and loud show comes on all you can do is sit through it and try raise your voice a bit so you can hear one another.

I recently booked the Fish Tank room in the Fuel Bar on a Friday night for my birthday celebrations on the recommendation of a friend and was extremely impressed. It has a great location right in the centre of Covent Garden and is the perfect venue for the young professional set to enjoy a drink and hang out with friends. My communication with the venue prior to the date of my event was very good and they were extremely accommodating and the best part was that the room was reserved for us between 8−11pm free of charge. We took advantage of the happy and really enjoyed the DJ set later on in the evening. The only downside is a lack of draught beers and lagers.

Imagine what it would be like if the Flintstone’s house was turned into a bar. Well, this must be where the idea for Fuel Bar originated. Located in Covet Garden’s picturesque piazza, this unique bar/club packs a lot into a small space. The whole bar is practically made up of many tiny rooms that connect. My friends and I went here on night we were looking to try something new. We got a little more than we expected with the scenery, as one part of the bar is even designed to look like the back of an RV. The bouncers were friendly and let us into the upstairs dance floor during a private party. Down on the main floor, the staff served free rounds of pizza to everyone! Would have rated it higher, but the music was too generic.
