Loved it! It’s definitely my favourite amongst City bars that turn into a club. Their happy hour is amazing and if you are lucky to get a table(or book it in advance!) — get a few bottles of drinks and I’m sure your night will be great! The drinks at a normal time — are priced at a normal London standard £8−9 for a cocktail. They play good chart music you can dance and sing along to. They also have a fair(for City standards!) ratio of boys to girls — so I guess that’s a big plus for boys(not for girls– I quite like the out-of-balance ratio of men to women in City places ;) Definitely would recommend it and definitely would come back!

Clause beats Pause hands down and the crowd here is a little more female which is nice. Less bankers and more girly lunches. A nice place for lunch drinks, afternoon cocktails, or early eves.

Great food at a great price! Fish and chips are excellent! Atmosphere would make you believe it’s much more expensive but prices were much better than restaurants nearby.

Clause Bar in the City of London is a typical, dependable City-style bar for after work whinging about the boss, and the occasional ill-advised drunken dance with a work colleague(we’ve all been there, don’t pretend you haven’t). It’s tucked down a small side street off of Eastcheap, and there is nearly always a bouncer outside to let you know where it is. The entrance is nothing but a set of stairs leading down to the venue. It’s a dark, ill-lit basement bar consistently half-full of City types and parties. On Fridays and some week days there is a DJ, and the musical fare is usually current R & B mixed with some dance tracks. The service is usually fairly slow at the bar, with only one or two bar staff serving, and a host of waiting potential drunks. They mix a mean cocktail at Clause, and have a lot of their own cocktail recipes that make my head hum and my liver moan. And during happy hour(5pm — 7pm, M-F), the cocktails are quite cheap, about £3.50, which is reasonable for your own little slice of SATC. The food is decent, mostly bar treats, mezze platters, chips and dips. The chips are quite surprisingly nice, and the Mediterranean platter is very tasty and filling. The waitstaff used to walk around in little hot pants, which made it a must-see for my male colleagues, but lately they seem to have changed into long trousers, a definite step back in the over-all décor. If you’re looking for a drink or a quick pre-dinner bite in the City, you could do better than Clause, but you could certainly do much worse.

Hard to rate. Ok it’s a generic city bar with a ‘modern’ look. Think cube leather stools and banquettes. It’s in a basement so it is dark. However, it has the most amazing coctail happy hour fro 5 – 7 everyday. I rate it as having some of the best cocktails in London. They do a great job. £3 between 5 and 7pm. Also half price bottles of wine which are a bargain purchase at 18.55. They do food and stuff too. Sister bars Patch & Pause offer the same deal though Clause is the best.
