We had a nice pint at the bar and had nice service with a good lager recommendation. We didn’t order food

Stopped in here for a quick pint to round out the day in London. A good selection of ales and lagers, but as others have noted it’s tied to the Young’s brand, so you won’t find any true local craft beers. My Dad likes lager, so I ordered him a Foster’s. I must say, charging 4 Pounds for a pint of Foster’s is ridiculous, by the way. That crap sells for $ 2/US pint in the States. We might have stayed a for an additional pint, but the music was so loud we had to shout at each other to have a conversation. Skip it if you’re looking to catch up and chat with your friends.

Pub very close to London Bridge, pretty pricey, but I guess that’s sadly ‘to be expected’ for The City. I did however enjoy their new beer garden, some fun coloured wood panels and plenty of benches to enjoy some pints at!

Friendly and efficient service in this London Bridge pub on a side street close to The Shard and station. There is an upstairs, outside and downstairs space — we went upstairs and shared a nice bottle of Rioja. Recommend and would definitely return.

We needed a pint of beer, they had serveral. We thought this should be a good idea, we were right. Stopped here after a long walk around Southbank/Borough Market. My friends and I were thirsty to have a pint and continue with our plans. Three pints were 13 pounds, a little expensive if you ask me but hey, you are just outside several tourist attractions, think about this before you decide to have a pint here. Nonetheless, soundtrack was awesome, and they have a backyard with tables for you to hang out. Burgers looked nice and appealing, but I wonder if someone can order food here when you know there is all those delicious options just around the corner in the market.

I was supposed to go to the old thameside inn but I ran out of time and this place was convenient right next to the tube station. The food was reasonably priced, tasted fresh and came out quickly. Staff were very friendly.

Hard to get served, even harder to start a conversation with anyone if you’re alone. Seems quite popular though.

Good pub close to the station but without that station feeling. Excellent beer garden in the summer

Been here a number of times and experience has varied depending on purpose of visit. Overall it’s a little meh. More than once I’ve popped in only to realise I’ve been in this place before. The good: fireplace upstairs, board games, staff are generally quite relaxed and helpful. You won’t get bothered or harassed at your table. Great central location. The building itself has tons of potential. If both levels felt like the upstairs I’d be more generous with the stars. The bad: food is quite poor and overpriced at that. Sunday roast is particularly lackluster, overcooked vegetables and dried out powdery potatoes(shout out to my boyfriend who had a plate of salty thin gravy covering about 6 sheets of flaccid white fat… beware the«pork belly» option). I can’t help feeling like with the benefit of its central location and being across the road from borough market, this place should really shine a lot more than it does. This reminds me of some of the forgotten boozers in the East End that are past their best and need a little bit of TLC. Selection of beers could be a little better. This is probably due to it being owned by one of those bland corporate pub behemoths. Give it a go, it won’t be the worst place you go to but prepare to be underwhelmed.

The chicken and ham pie was tasty, but a thin gravy and fading concern about the joined vegetables kept his from shining. The staff was quite friendly though.

Nice traditional pub. Good atmosphere. Also real ale at this Young’s pub. Better than many other places in that area. Friendly staff. Good view up the new Shard building. We were not entirely happy with our Fish & Chips.

Nice smallish pub, tucked away of busy Borough High street. Youngs ale on sale. A small bar area to the left, dark wood interior. Has an outside seating area on multiple levels, blankets are available for use in cold weather. There is an upstairs dining area. The only downside I noticed, was all the doors slam. The exit, gents and ladies. No one tried the garden door while I was there.

I must have walked past this pub countless times on my trips to London Bridge. Not entirely sure why I’ve never gone in. It’s alright. It’s a Youngs pub, so if you’re a fan of their ale, you’re sorted. But I’m not, I think it’s rather tasteless. Even their Christmassy ‘Winter Warmer’ was a bit pointless. But the pub is actually cool. Busy, but you could still get a(standing) table. Staff are interesting. They ignore you if you’re faffing about with your mobile phone. I like this, but as it was me who was faffing about with their mobile, I can’t decide if it annoyed me or not. Food is alright. We shared a sausage platter which came with wedges and bread and chutney(from a jar). Wine was nothing to shout about. There’s nothing about the pub that screams awesome, but it’s better than a three star-er. It’s also the closest pub to the Underground entrance that I use to get home, and that’s going to come in super handy. I like it here, even if it’s not my first choice in London Bridge.

Beers here on Wednesday with the Hawk after work. I like it here, it has a nice atmosphere and the bar staff are friendly. Its normally a nice place for a quiet drink and chat in the seating areas(although this wasn’t possible on Wednesday as it was busy). Red Stripe on tap, which is rare.

I can’t speak of this place with much authority, as i was only in here for one pint as i waited for the significant other to go to the nearby bank. But here is what i did notice: 1) friendly staff 2) a traditional English pub vibe without being too themey 3) a spectacular back patio on which i desperately wish we had spent some more time 4) honest to god casked ales! These may be all over London, but as they’re few and far between in the states, for a beerknurd like me they were a complete novelty. 5) a back corner with some crazy type of quasi-slot machine gambling apparatus. I’ve seen these all over the city and must learn more about this phenomenon

Oh pubs, how I missed thee. Especially ones just like this — cosy, decent draught selection, lots of shelves on which to place your pint(much overlooked but necessary bar furntiure, especially when there are never enough seats), friendly staff. I’m glad the All Bar One(i know, boo hiss) was too packed to consider and we came here instead. It was standing room only on a Thursday after work — all night — though the upstairs was largely taken over with one party who’d reserved half the tables. The upstairs is nice, a lot like the upstairs at the Angelic, which is another favourite. Wood tables, mismtahced chairs etc. etc. The bar is well staffed, though I can imagine a crush on a Friday night. I’ll go back summer when the beer garden’s open. The food looked good, but I didn’t have any this time round, due to a lack of seat(exacerbating the cider effects, see below). Minus one star because I was rather surprised to be charged, yet again, for soda water. This apalling practice should be illegal. I also forgot how strong English cider is, but that can’t really be blamed on the pub…

Young’s pub not far from the London Bridge street station, so has the usual range of Young’s ales which are perfectly nice(especially the Kew Gold summer offering) but I wish they had a guest too, for a bit of variety. The staff are friendly and there is an outside area, although it would be extremely optimistic to call it a beer garden. The inside is pleasant too, according to their website it offers a fantastic blend of traditional and contemporary décor and who am I to disagree This pub opens quite early(I think 10am) so it is a good place to meet if you are travelling to the football from out of London Bridge(as I have done once or twice).

Back in London again and I’m glad I found Bunch of Grapes. I was initially looking for a place to watchthe Chelsea-Liverpool match, but as usual, finding a place with food and a seat was impossible. So we stopped at the first pub we saw and are glad we did. The service was good and the food was hot, filling, with a touch of flavor.

What a great little find this traditional English pub is. On a rainy day in south London I was desperate for cover and The Bunch of Grapes was more than accommodating. The bar area is designed in lovely dark wood and the spacious floor leads out into a paved beer garden. Upstairs is the real jewel as it is so homely with a big TV, and the kind of place you can chill for hours. With free wifi available I did stay for hours. The traditional food menu is delightful. My group had the goats cheese salad, fish and chips and the British deli board from the specials. Every dish had its own unique wow factor and was very good. Even with the above, what really stood out about this place was the service. Genuine, welcoming smiles and banter from all the staff put the cherry on the cake for me. I would recommend The Bunch of Grapes without hesitation.

I couldn’t be happier sitting in the homely upstairs room at my new favourite pub, listening to Snow Patrol, using free wi-fi, sipping on a diet coke, and slipping into a rabbit hole of early 90s references through their avid use of Trolls and My Little Pony table numbers. Radical. Unfortunately, the rain is pissing down outside so I’m not able to enjoy the communal beer garden. Yet the upstairs area is so warm and cozy that I feel like I’m at home,(other than the fact that my trousers are still on). And even more so after I’ve sampled their down home cooking that would put up a good fight again any Mum’s. The sticky toffee pudding is a not-to-miss menu item and hopefully exactly what heaven is like.
