I think«Espo’s» has tried to focus more on its evening entertainment and cater for its night time guests rather than those of daylight hours and lost its image of café bar as a result. I had lunch here a while ago, it was mediocre and I didn’t go back. I did return in the evening some weeks later however for a few drinks with friends; it wsa a spur of the moment sort of evening and we just ended up here. We were entertained for all the wrong reasons; it’s a little tired, the music was just naf and we were the only people on the premises under 50 besides the bar staff. I’m sure we’ll go back if we’re drunk enough or there’s nowhere else to go as there is a nice atmosphere and drinks are reasonable, it’s just not really my scene

This is such a versatile venue. It’s ideal for lunch with friends, an evening meal with family or a night-out. At lunch-time I found the café bar to be pretty busy and the service a little slow. I had a full breakfast which was fairly average in its quality. The price was pretty reasonable though(around a fiver for the full meal). Apparently they offer live music at the weekend, but I think I’ll give this a miss as I prefer the establishment as just somewhere to eat and chat, instead of a place for a night-out. I’d much rather head into central Liverpool for that purpose. Not my favourite café to head too!

What’s happenning on South Road? been to Esperantos 3 times in the last 6mths. usually late on a fri. night or Sat. and 3 times there has been trouble. I found the place too busy and full of young lads looking for a fight. Too intimidating to relax. Sorry i go elsewhere these days.

esperantos is ok, as another reviewer said its very tacky and also very small. it takes ages to go the toilet. But over all it’s not to bad and the food is ok. They play very old band kid of music like frank sinatra and it does get a bit dated. They also have guest bands and singers whith can be good however i hav been there 5 times and 3 of those times they had the same singer, could just be a coincedence but still they could try new things.

Esperanto’s is very tacky but i think it know’s this and relishes it. the scene is usually as follows Groups of girls e.g. hen night’s, girl’s work night out etc go there early on in the evening and eat then get steadily drunk then a cheesy act comes on and everyone gets up to dance then later on more and more guys show up and proceed to make moves on the by now tipsy ladies etc. It’s all very funny to watch. The place never takes itself too seriously. Late Bar
