i’d been meaning to check this little place out, as i’ve heard good things about it. so i made a quick run inside while waiting for a bus… and i must say i was pleased that they had around five or six flavors of cupcakes to choose from. the cupcakes themselves look pretty average and actually a little more homemade that i would normally expect from a cake shop– considering i think they mainly just do professional proper sized cakes. anyway, i meant to order the raspberry one, but i accidentally said strawberry and i was too embarrassed to back track… shame. anyway, to me a strawberry cupcake is not a cupcake with just a strawberry on top. and it’s not really a vanilla cupcake with a teaspoon of ‘strawberry’ jam in the center either… but i suppose that is closer. the cake was soft and the frosting was alright, definitely one of the much better cuppies i’ve enjoyed in glasgow. i don’t really like things with a jammy center unless it’s an empire biscuit… so i could’ve done without the jam in the cake… but also it didn’t really taste like strawberry… just a but of cheap some kind of berry jam. anyway, when i’m in shawlands, i will definitely pick another one up. x

Laid out like an old fashioned sweet shop, the first thing that strikes you is how pretty everything looks when you enter the place. Loads of different coloured cupcakes all waiting just to be eaten. by you. So get chomping! The extra good news if you are feeling guilty is that they are all made with organic and free trade ingredients. Everything is homemade and you can order cakes big or small for special occasions or because you just want cake. Why wouldn’t you? If you prefer something even healthier they make delicious banana bread and carrot cake too. It’s a really new shop, and thumbs up for being brave enough to take such a risk. They look like they’re trying hard enough to keep the customers happy and coming back including delivery of gift boxes at a humble £5. Hard to argue with them really.

Note to brain… if you do something stupid over the next near or so and are in desperate need of a ‘please forgive me i’m an idiot, a fool, a muppet, cretin, imbecile or, in short, a man’ then remember, remember, remember this place… it may well save your life. With a window display that is simple yet incredibly effective, it shows you some cakes, this wee place is a definite emporium of the delectable cake like eatables variety… flippin lovely. Specialising in the recent cup cake revival/explosion currently doing the rounds The Little Cake Parlour is a wonderful joint to indulge your taste buds in the yummy, cutesy cup cake goodness that they provide. A fully stuffed, yummed out two thumbs up from me… and remember, this place may well save your relationship and or life!!!

The Little Cake Parlour is a lovely little addition to the Shawlands area, with an welcoming window full of gorgeous cupcakes piled high in cake stands, and larger cakes made to order for any occasion. This place is beautiful, with its stylish French décor and sweet scent of cakes all around. Definitely worth a visit on any special occasion for a specially made cake or simply if you fancy treating yourself.
