Tea, coffee, good grub, friendly staff, great music and wifi… need more? Nah, thought as much. If it’s a lunch time nosh spot or a wee jam session on a Tuesday night(methinks) then Jive is where it’s at. I’d frequented this place a few times in it’s previous incarnation, but wasn’t too surprised that it never lasted too long… nice as it was, the vibe or jive was in that case missing. This place however, seems to have spotted the lack o J and whacked it on. Yeah I’m still not sold on the grey paint, but the album covers on the wall alongside the piana, certainly hand a little bit of ‘oomf’ to the joint. Grub wise, it’s sandwiched and cakes. Good aye, reasonably priced and perfect to soak up the excess coffee juice. This one is a ‘stumble upon’. For me it’s not a natural find and with the grey paint work, it maybe doesnae do itself any favours in grabbing folks attention, but once inside, it has something to it that appeals to me. I still think it needs some work, but the vibe with Jive is certainly in the right groove… mama, daddy-o. Word.
