I love a wee Frankie and Benny’s meal and the service in this restaurant is consistently high. Last time I was in, I was in for lunch with a friend on his lunch break. We made the staff aware of this and were in, served, ate and paid within 45 minutes — incredibly quick. All the food was freshly prepared and the staff very attentive. One of my fave restaurants in Springfield Quay due to their good staff! Only downside is the wait for tables in their busy periods, but that happens!

In all honesty I’m not a fan of the Frankies and benny’s chain Don’t find the food all that exciting or appetising They can do a great breakfast however Out the many sites I’ve been to with family or friends, this is probably the better one for customer service, great location in the quay, sat right next to the river with plenty of free parking If you like the chain this is the one to go to

I ‘award’ a measly 2 stars to this Frankie & Benny’s for a couple of reasons. Firstly I’ve been to this restaurant 4 times, twice for breakfast and twice for dinner and along side me all 4 times has been been my trusted Friend for almost 10 years and fellow food critic, Tomas who once again drew the short straw on our fourth and final visit. I should start by saying that the first three visits to the restaurant were reasonable, particularly at breakfast but the last time we came for dinner nothing could have prepared us for the horror that lay ahead. We had decided to come for dinner, no occasion if my memory serves me, so we made out way along the Clyde and having not booked a table we showed up at the door and were seated right away in the seemingly crowded restaurant — we got a booth so yay! We had a quick gander at the menus and ordered some drinks and garlic bread, which when arrived was somewhat disappointing as I was expecting some real Italian style garlic bread but instead it was them chap thin shit that’s completely over-seasoned with garlic and obviously heated in a microwave! But Ho hum, it’s just a side dish so let’s plod on I thought. We ordered our main courses, I has the bacon cheeseburger, served with fries, onion rings and coleslaw and Tomas went for the steak(well done), served with fries, onion rings and coleslaw. As we waited for our food to arrive we discussed at length the recently released Tom hardy film, Legend which I thoroughly recommend! I seem to recall waiting a ridiculous length of time for our food to surface from the extremely depressing looking kitchen(which was in full view of my seat betwixt the two terrible looking busts of Frankie and Benny themselves). So when the food finally arrived and the second those ‘plates’ hit that table well the shit hit the fan and that’s when I knew we would never be back to this place! I should mention that our food wasn’t even on plates but instead these fucking hip, trendy wooden cutting boards that you seen to see everywhere, now that really pissed me off and I should also mention that the portions of fries were served inside of a brown paper bag on the wood. This was some of the worst presentation I’ve ever seen in an «Italian» restaurant. Now I could have probably overlooked the presentation if it were for the monstrosity staring back at me from Tomy’s plate, eh I mean board. I’d literally never seen anything so horrific in all my 19 years! This piece of shit on his plate looked nothing like the steak that my friend had ordered and in fact nothing like the pictures on the menus! It was absolutely appalling! It looked like a cross between a thin piece of old leather and a turd! Did I mention it was literally burnt to a fucking crisp! Newsflash!!! Well done doesn’t not mean set the fucking steak on fire! And finally the size of this burning ember was fucking ridiculous! Imagine your credit or debit card in your wallet right now? Take it out and look at the size of it. MYBESTFRIENDSSTEAKWASLITERALLYABOUTHALFTHESIZEOFIT!!! Needless to say I almost lost my shit at the waitress, in fact fuck the waitress I was going straight for the chef! But Tomy, who has always kept the peace, and saved my midget ass on a few occasions stopped me and I’m glad he did! Though every time the waitress would pass out table or have the nerve to ask how the«food» was, I couldn’t stop myself reaching for my steak knife! Like that scene from legend when Ronnie Kray reaches for his gun and sets it on the table in a threatening manner and his brother reggie say ‘n…no! No!’ Yeah it was like that! In conclusion if you do accidentally arrive at this place! Never order the steak! God I hate these fake ass commercial Italian restaurant chains, don’t even get me stated on Di Maggio’s.

I tried F & B’s for the first time after arriving from California and having some time to kill. I enjoyed it and next time I’m in Glasgow, I’ll definitely try something new on the menu. –The food was good and I liked the whole vibe of the place — not to mention the staff was very friendly and attentive! With that being said — no, it’s not fine dining or anything lol, but it’s pretty good food//portions for what you pay for. I ordered the Full Scottish & of course Irn-Bru! ;) It was delish and you can’t go wrong with Irn-Bru. I don’t know how I’ve never had a Scottish breakfast before(aside from the fact that I live in America, but still! ha…), but all I can say is: yummy. F & B’s at the Quay is worth checking out.

Came here because I fancied pizza after being to the cinema. Food was Ok. Waitress was really nice. Place was full of loud weans. Pleasant enough but not a venue I’d chose for a ‘special’ meal. Personally I think this chain is really pricey for what it is! It’s McDonald’s with a plate!!!

Watery, overpriced pasta. Which I pretended to really enjoy because A) the waitress was really, really sweet and B) my mum had taken me out to lunch and paid for everything, so I felt I owed it to her to be nice. This place is like TGI Friday’s younger, less attractive, less dynamic and more anaemic brother. There’s never any buzz about the place, you never go to Frankie and Benny’s because you’re crazy about the atmosphere or food, you go because there’s nowhere else around and you want a munch. Simple as that, really. Veggie options are sorely limited, with maybe only two or three main courses suitable for us herbivores. The portions are very generous, though. So if watery pasta floats your boat, you’re on to a winner here. The cocktail menu is not bad, however. Whoever does the French Martinis here shakes a decent cocktail. Though they don’t give you straws, which makes you have to stick your finger in the glass to get all the froth that’s left! How undignified! Because you can’t leave the froth of a cocktail, that’s just not on! So, yeah, rather disappointing, really. You can’t help but feel you’ve wasted your money when you leave here. Go to TGI’s. That’s my advice, and I’m incredibly wisdomous for my tender years! :-p

We arrived at around 5pm on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was half full(or half empty depending on your glass) with ample vacant tables in plain sight, however we had to wait at the bar for 10 minutes(‘there’s a 10 minute waiting time for a table’ — we were reliably informed and given the buzzer device(cattle prod) to be summoned), a ploy to get the bar spend up we thought or perhaps just short staffed to cover all those empty tables, still not quite sure. I had a notion for a good old Italian and opted for the F&B classic Meatballs on Spaghetti — Five large classic pork and beef meatballs, piled high on spaghetti, tossed in our rich tomato and beef ragu. The meatballs arrived and had the consistency of golf balls on a bed of elastic bands tossed in something that definitely did not resemble a rich tomato and beef ragu in any form whatsoever. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

I’ve always quite enjoyed the food and Frankie and Benny’s. True it’s not high dining but at £9.95 for two course(Sun — Fri) you don’t expect it to be. The phrase cheap and cheerful is a very apt one when describing this establishment. The staff were friendly and courteous, and despite it being, what I imagine to be, one of their busiest nights of the year — the cinema opening of the final Harry Potter(which is superb by the way) — we didn’t need to make a reservation and were seated within 15 minutes. We did feel a little rushed by the waiter(in a very jovial and subtle manner though in fairness), but this was fine as we had to make the showing anyway. It’s not a romantic restaurant, nor is it a peaceful one. It’s perfect for a quick bite, or a fairly inexpensive and pleasant young family meal out.

Eating at a F&B’s is like eating at the airport. You are not out there for a dining experience. You simply need nourishment or need to distract your children for 30 minutes. This is not an Italian restaurant, it is an Italian themed restaurant. Similar to the ones at Disneyland. Except instead of large mice gazing at you while you eat — you are surrounded by corporately designed Italo-americana photos and posters. TGS Concession(a subsidiary of the Restaurant Group) has constructed a corporate fairytale behind this eaterie about Frankie Giuliani and it is as true as a Mickey and Pals cartoon. As stated before — This is a theme restaurant operated by a European corporation serving Italian type food, which has been plated in a centralised food production facilty and then reheated by Poles. If this is the dining experience you are after — this is the place for you. «Hey honey, lets go out for a reheated plate experience»

I have been to a couple of Frankie & Benny’s now and had good experiences at the others but not this one. Me and my bf arrived last thursday to find the heating was broken and bear in mind there was a good few inches of snow outside!, also the toilets had flooded with about 2 inches of water which just topped off the night! In the end the food came at a reasonable time, It was ok nothing special, but what surprised me the most was that they charged us FULLPRICE! No discount for the place being baltic inside or the toilets being unusable, The staff also never apologised about the situation so that cemented my decision to never eat here again.

The location does mean that if you find yourself here, you’re almost certainly going to go for a cinema and lunch or dinner combo. Indeed, this is an ideal place for it. Due to this complex being slightly out of the way, it tends to be a lot quieter than similar venues in the city centre. The menu is pretty standard for an American-Italian themed diner, though this means that there should be something for everyone(including veggies and fussy eaters alike). For what you get, the prices are reasonable and you can even get a wee swally with your dinner. Reservations are rarely needed here, although you may want to be careful with when you go in especially during weekends as this is a very kid/family friendly place. Hence, it can get a little on the noisy side for those of us not used to being around children.

Frankie and Benny’s seem to have had their time: once the slightly kitsch Americana, the vaguely Italian menus and the American diner experience felt fresh and cheeky. Now it has become predictable, an obvious pull more suited for excited youngsters than mature diners. Or is that just age creeping up on me? I have had good meals here, usually part of a group: for a restaurant with a bit of style, they are pretty good value for money, with the emphasis on filling portions rather than subtle taste. There is nothing on the menu to surprise, but it is all good rich stuff, a fun atmosphere that is more discret than, say, Fridays. Sadly, Springfeld Quay is not that great a location: the cinema is handy, but the romantic stroll along the banks of the Clyde is never smart after dark…

I’ve always viewed Frankie and Bennie’s as a bit like the quieter, more bookish sibling of TGI’s. It substitutes the brashness with a slightly twee Italian-American feel, but the end product is pretty much the same. It’s easy to criticise a chain restaurant and while an identical experience could be had in any of their units, the food is always tasty and the portions pretty huge. Their decision to locate mainly in retail parks /leisure complexes means they’re usually up against Pizza Hut and Burger King, and come out ahead of those two in pretty much every area.

Frankie & Benny’s is a great chain of restaurants offering an extensive menu which is bound to suit every taste. This restaurant at Springfield Quay is in a great location, especially if you’re looking for a nice meal after a hard days shopping or after a fun day out at the Science Centre or SECC. The American Diner style of the restaurant is appealing, a bit like a toned down version of TGI’s — so you get good quality food in nice surroundings without all the hype and noise! If you choose to dine here on a Saturday night though you should either book in advance or be prepared for a bit of a wait in the bar as it can get pretty busy.

This F&B is usually pretty quiet, except a Saturday night. Food is wonderful and love the American Diner feel with the old music. Only negative thing is the staff — either your waiter is never there when you want them(for the bill etc.) or they are way too friendly(never heard of waiters coming and sitting at your table to take an order).
