If I ever need to buy a distant relative a Birthday or Christmas present, I always go straight to the Holyrood Palace shop and gallery first. They sell really quirky things — and is not what you would expect!
Every Christmas my brothers don their Holyrood Palace black apron’s (they look and feel posh) and my grandfather always makes a point of wearing the Holyrood Palace Crown at New Year. Ok I suppose it’s a personal thing, but I love all the stuff sold here, and so do the people I give it to!
It’s a great place to get stocking-​fillers or something special from Edinburgh. They sell everything from cups and saucers to books and art prints. If you’re down visiting the palace and galleries, you have to go in past the shop.
