I’m not the biggest fan of contemporary art, so the Ingleby Gallery isn’t really my cup of chai. But this place is fantastic for people who are passionate about art, and I actually love reading the huge billboard outside, which usually says something profound and quirky. Like Alice said, the venue is fab, the space is huge but its not filled with a lot of stuff. I guess I’m just too ignorant to get the point here, which is a shame.

On the walk to work I would fondly look up to the billboard art project high up on the side of the gallery. There was always something eye catching and«deep». Walking past the windows gave the impression of it being a clean and airy gallery, just like every other. Since then I’ve had no reason to go back, the reviews I’ve read really don’t want to make me go out my way(5 mins) to visit. Regardless of being a fantastic venue, the work it displays always seem to be a bit pretentious, do we still live in an age where someone who’s just come out of art school can paint a canvas in half using two block colours? It’s all a bit boring to look at. Sadly, I’d love to say it was just the one off exhibition, but it wasn’t, it seems to be the people commissioning or accepting these projects just like their art to be suitable to be sold as «office art»
