I absolutely LOVE this joint. In fact I wish other people didn’t know about it. lol
I invite people out for a meal there or suggest it at least twice a month.
I wont tell you my favourite dish, because you’ll buy it all out! haha
Agree with previous postlacks in atmosphere and waiters are inpersonal.

Nice food, nice offer, nice atmosphere.
They offered a lot aside the card like 2 cours menu or other special. so when you’ve managed to sort out what menu is displaying what the choices are difficult to make.
So we went for the Dining and wineing, which was three courses with three «wines». The starter was delicious and ok a prosecco as the first wine, mmmmh let us say I was surprised, but ok. Next was a delicious steak with the real nice Argentinien Malbec. That was a 100% hit. The last course was some cheese with a small port aside. My be I should not have expected 3 Wines with the courses. So it was all in all a very good deal for 29 GBP. Was stops me form 5 star is the lack of support in the wood of menues as well as the rush the food was brought which reminds me more to a US steakhouse than an french style bistro. Next time I will insist on slowing that down to enjoy the real good food. So as you can read, there will be a next time.

Le Bistro Pierre is a French bistro restaurant on Friar Gate in Derby. It is an extremely popular restaurant, so I would strongly advise you to book. Whilst were eating people constantly came streaming in, most had booked, but a lot came in on the off chance of a table.
As it was our second works-​do in two days and there were 14 of us, we plumped for the early bird/​pre theatre menu — £12.90 for two courses. Friendly and efficient waitresses quickly took our order, using an electronic device to link your food and drinks order to your place at the table. A great idea, meaning your meal was delivered straight to you. Complimentary fresh bread as an apéritif was a nice touch. The starters quickly arrived, I had chosen the brioche with a creamy mushroom and bacon sauce, which was seriously full of flavour — a fantastic start. Just the right amount elapsed before we got our mains. I had chosen the steak with a mushroom and shallot sauce. Steak is not usually my first choice in a restaurant, but this steak was cooked to perfection and the accompanying sauce and salad, rounded off a great dish. Having a great night and having exhausted my two early bird courses, I just couldn’t resist a dessert. Chocolate mousse and handmade shortbread did not disappoint!
Le Bistro Pierre is a great restaurant, bustling and popular, but with great customer service, superb food and perfect course pacing.

Starters and Desserts are usually lovely, Main course can sometimes seem microwaved and they could certainly benefit from changing the veg accompanyments from time to time, the menu states ‘seasonal vegetables’ yet they always serve, gratin potatoes, red cabbage and corgettes/​broccoli! Reasonably priced however and the house white is of a good quality.

Often visit this restaurant for the set lunch and have never had a bad meal. Menu changes daily and has good variety of starters, mains and desserts. Before you begin, you are given a basket of bread to snack on when you look through the menu. Portion sizes are generous — main courses are normally served with a selection of veggies and potatoes. Wine list is good and suits all budgets — also does kir/​kir royale and pimms by the glass. Staff are generally really good and I like that you can watch the staff in the kitchen. Toilets have always been clean. Interior is lovely, wooden floors and french themed painting on the walls

Le Bistrot Pierre is an extremely comfortable feeling restuarant. Solid tables and chairs give it an almost French farmhouse feeling and therefore it is easy to feel relaxed in the surroundings.
I first visited for a Christmas lunch in 2007 with a group of 15 and we were very impressed by the level of service that made us feel very welcome but informally so. It was a lunch time 3-​course meal which ran like clockwork. As you do we all tried off each others plates and there wasn’t a disappointing dish amongst us. The choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes was very good and the accompanying vegetable orders were crisp, fresh and plentiful. The portions certianly didn’t disappoint! Coming in around £15 a head it was excellent value so much so we are booked to return this year.
Because it was such a comfortable setting it is a perfect place to stop for a spot of lunch even if on your own.
Of course it isn’t close to the new Westfields shopping centre etc but I would say, if you want a day where you step back from the heavily satuated commercial shopping experience head to the Cathedral quarter, slow down the pace and saunter along to Le Bistro Pierre for a relaxed lunch.
It would also be a good place to head for an informal business lunch with the bonus of not being pricey.
I have yet to return to smaple their evening menu but if the occassion arose that I was going to eat out in Derby one night I would certainly head there way. As it is so relaxed I’d also recommend it to people on their first tentative dates!

Le Bistrot Pierre is a top quality restaurant. From the outside it doesn’t look much — it’s situated on Friargate amongst several other bars and restaurants and it happily blends into the row. But go inside, and you are greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere, and some of the best food you could possibly wish for. The staff are very polite and friendly, and the menu is eclectic and always interesting.
The food is simply amazing (you really must try their crème brûlée, it’s heaven in pudding form!) and the prices are very reasonable. They also do a loyalty scheme, where they will stamp a card for you and after so many stamps you get a free meal!
I have eaten there on many occasions, and it is always my first choice for a meal out.

Brilliant place to eat and well located on one of Derby’s busiest streets for bars and restaurants. Nice and friendly atmosphere with polite and courteous staff. The menu is usually very good and the food has not be disappointing yet.
It is a fairly small restaurant, and space can be tight when it is busy, but this isn’t really a problem. Generally, a very well presented restaurant attempting to carry off the theme of a rustic french restaurant. Excellent value for money.

This is my favourite place to eat in Derby as it combines quality with value for money. There is a consistantly good menu and I know when it arrives it will be well prepared and presented.
July 2009 and I’ve just had to increase my rating to 5*. My wife has recently been diagnosed as lactose intolerent and the lactose free alternatives they served up tonight were absolutely amazing.
One word of warning though, make sure that you book as it is always busy.

Consistently fabulous French bistro. It’s part of a (small) chain — with another venue in Nottingham but you’d never guess it from the standard of the food. The pre-​theatre and lunch deals mean you can get a delicious three course meal for a lot less than a tenner — and I have yet to be disappointed. The menu changes regularly and there are a limited number of choices, but it’s soooooo good! My favourite is the bread and butter pudding.
Staff are friendly, helpful and professional — service is prompt without feeling rushed.
Décor is quite rustic and simple — wooden floorboards etc. Toilets leave a bit to be desired, but otherwise it’s top knotch.
