Pizza Hut is Pizza Hut is Pizza Hut. If you’re looking at a review, chances are you know what Pizza Hut’s food tastes like. If not, I’ll sum it up quickly: it’s pizza, and the business is quite successful, so it must taste quite nice at least.
I’ve always found this Pizza Hut on St. Mary’s Street to be quite soulless. With Pizza Express next door looking all pristine and polished, sneering at poor greasy Pizza Hut, you kind of get the impression that this Pizza Hut is standing on its tiptoes to try and look as impressive as its neighbour. And it’s kind of sad.
I seem to have unnecessarily high demands for my fast food pizza joints (my last Pizza Hut review talked about intimacy, like I was reviewing the restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower, for crying out loud) but whilst the other Pizza Hut in the city centre is a unique and charming restaurant that plays to the strengths of its location, this is a restaurant that has lost its identity.
Pizza Hut, listen closely. You’re a fastfood restaurant for people who want to hang out and eat greasy pizza for low prices and have no pretensions towards classiness. So be that. Don’t worry about the sneers of the Pizza Express crowd; they’re all dead inside anyway. You’ve got soul, Pizza Hut. You’ve got heart. You don’t need to slick your hair back and charm the punters with your fancy clean windows. You’ve got personality to do that for you.

Another branch of the popular chain Pizza Hut. This resteraunt is located on the main club street so is ideal to grab a bite to eat before you go out. There is a wide variety of choice here from pizza and pasta to lasange and salad so there is something for everyones taste. There are also meal deal options for larger groups of people and a childrens menu.

This is one of two branches of Pizza Hut located fairly close together. The other branch (in Queen Street) is definitely the better one. This branch has all the usual menu, (pizza, pasta, buffet, salads, ice cream) but the staff lack enthusiasm. The restaurant is not big and is poorly lit. It is rarely busy and so the buffet food tends to sit around longer than normal for this type of place. The buffet food is luke warm and the salads are jaded. If you order a dish from the menu, the service is surprisingly slow. I only go to this restaurant when every other eating place in town is packed out.

If you’re on a budget or looking to appease a lot of people in a group the Pizza Hut (or should that now be Pasta Hut?) is a great resolution. The all you can eat buffet offer is a great incentive to visit, but if you happen to miss those times then they often have special offers on their site such as 2 for 1 and other savings.
The service is consistent, but that doesn’t mean it’s quick. Sadly they always seem understaffed and overwhelmed which is a shame.
If you’ve been to a Pizza Hut before then you’ll know what to expect. If not then they offer reasonable pizza (amonst other things) at a fairly reasonable price. You can box up anything you can’t finish and take it home with you.
The advantage this branch has over the nearby Queen Street on is that there are far fewer steps upon entering. Here the main seating area is just above ground level, with a raised area towards the back. The toilets however are downstairs which is a bit of a trek.
But on the whole it’s not bad so long as you’re not in a hurry.

A group of adults were out and about as part as a weekend away, and we were all unsure what we wanted with mixed diets, tastes etc. So everyone in our group chipped in and we tried the popular Eat As Much As You like Buffet with unlimited food from a bar for £7.99, which included salad, drinks, pizza and ice cream. A great deal. Overall, we loved Pizza Hut, it is excellent. Especially this certain branch as reviews on other branches have been mixed. The staff were average, you could tell they didn’t want to be there but put on an okay attitude. I recommend the buffet but cant comment on the Menu.
