In a nod to the great architect connected intimately with the railway in the west country, this cart is located just outside the main entrance to Bristol Temple Meads station I was grateful to find this cart as there are no other eating options outside the ticket barriers at the station I opted for a savoury crêpe — cheese and ham. This was made fresh and handed to me piping hot. All for £3.50. £1.70 for a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice and I was a happily fed passenger. Can’t say fairer than that for lunch in an expensive station area

Not a bad little cart, this, located just outside the main entrance to Bristol temple Meads station. It serves up a pretty mean coffee, plus cold drinks in the summer, and even freshly made crepes, which are the real reason that you head to this place, let’s face it. I particularly like the savoury crepes, which Isambard(I like to think the head honcho serves me personally, even if it’s a made up name) always loads with cheese(always a winner in my book) and has a good selection of tasty goods to go with this. The sweet ones are very good, too, and you’ll be well tempted to get one just from the smell, but be warned that they become overkill quite easily. Reasonably priced for a station eatery, though, so what are you waiting for?

«How’s your journey going?» Four innocent little words. Or so you’d think. Turns out they were just the ammunition my friend needed to let rip. «Where do I start?! Both my trains were delayed, I didn’t get a seat, there’s a child screaming in my ear and I’m in desperate need of a stiff drink! See you in five minutes.» Not the best start to a weekend of frivolity. Stood outside Bristol Temple Meads Station I searched hopelessly for some sort of offering. Some fruit and veg from the stall opposite me? Probably not. A paper from WHSmiths? Nope. Then I spotted Isambard’s Coffee House. It may not be the stiffest of drinks but piping hot and full of flavour, it may just do the trick. After a bit of a wait in the queue, the friendly man behind the counter passed over two cappuccinos for a fair price. Not the most amazing or best value coffee in Bristol, but for the convenience and the look of joy on my friend’s face when I passed her a cup it gets my vote.

Isambard’s Coffee House is located just at the main entrance to Bristol Temple Meads train station. It is a takeaway van which is manned by usually just one person, meaning there is usually a bit of a wait for your order. The coffee is average, but reasonably priced. It offers a wide range of coffees and teas, and in addition a variety of sandwiches, lunch food and a small selection of sweets. There is quite a large variety of sweet and savoury crepes which are really quite good. Isambard’s Coffee House is in a handy location as there are not any places to buy hot drinks until you buy a ticket and go through the barriers therefore will appeal to those dropping people off. There is, however, no seating nearby, and you are only sheltered from the rain by a small overhead roof where the till is.
