Have eaten there for over 10 years. The quality has remained excellent. If you want locally made English food that is well prepared with great ingredients then try the«Sausage». The Sunday lunch is my favorite but you need a reservation. Great for American who turn their noises up about English food.

I’ve heard good things about this restaurant so I was excited to go for my Christmas dinner with the girls. It’s nice comfortable surroundings when you walk in and feels relaxed. The staff were very friendly which is always a good start. I had the chicken liver parfait with toasted brioche, it was lovely although could have done with a little more brioche. I went for the traditional Christmas turkey for my main, there was a good selection of veg and the roast potatoes were delicious, crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside. There was plenty of turkey on the plate and old spot pigs in blankets, YUM! I also tried some of the Cornish sea bream which was served with king prawns, I wish I didn’t try it because it gave me serious food envy. The prawns were succulent, the lemon butter sauce it came with was immense. My friend is lucky that I didn’t inhale the whole thing! I followed my festive feast with cheese and biscuits, a good selection of cheeses, some grapes and plenty of crackers to go with it. I will definitely be going back, although I’ll have to try bangers and mash next time.

I went here a little while ago with some girlfriends and it was lovely. We managed to nab a cute little booth at the back with lovely décor and cushions. The menu is quite large with fantastic(but pricy) wines, the sausages were delish and HUGE portions. I had toad in the hole with not 1, not 2 but 3 sausages! I could make a rude joke but i’ll refrain… The batter was pretty tough and burnt BUT i’ll forgive them as the mash was to die for. You’ll be looking at about £20 per person for a main meal, beer/wine and a pudding to share. I’ll def be going again soon :)

The restaurant is nice, food is good and staff is friendly. It was a good experience, but it is expensive for sausage meals…

We don’t have restaurants quite like this in New York City so I was fascinated when I saw the menu. I opted for the«Toad in a Hole,» 4 sausages in Yorkshire Pudding smothered in onion gravy with scallion mashies and fried parsnips on the side. Excellent sausages, pudding was spot on and I never had friend parsnips before so that was quite a novelty for me. A pint of excellent bitter complimented this nicely. I was quite pleased although I am not used to such a heavy meal. I loved the space and the atmosphere. Solid 4. I wish I had time to sit at the bar but I was far too full!!!

I can’t say how incredible the food was here, and the service was great too! We had a delightful little table in the corner and watched the world go by! Our waitress was friendly and helped us choose the best side dishes, which were divine! The portions were the perfect size, and for once I had no room for desert! I wish they would come to London!

What can I say other than this place is really very good — even considering this is Bristol. Perfect sausages, perfect mash and perfect Yorkshire pudding. The only downsides — it’s noisy an

The Sausage delivers awesome food — every time. The sausages are their speciality but the menu constantly evolves — duck, venizen, pheasant. You need to book really far in advance and you need to be prepared to spend a little bit more money here. Think around £40 for two. Going out for sausage and mash may seem a little bizarre, seeing as you could cook it yourself at home, but i think it is the little extras that make a trip to the Clifton Sausage worthwhile.
