Having moved from San Francisco, I was super excited to find such a fabulous café with lovely vegetarian food. I have had salads, soups, wraps, and everything has always been delicious. However the most amazing thing they serve are those cakes!

This place is brilliant for both vegetarians and vegans alike, as they don’t offer any form of meat so there’s no risk that you’ll stumble across a piece of accidental chicken in your food! Their wraps are their speciality, and you definitely get value for money as they are incredibly filling and really generous portions and also really tasty. The Chickpea is a quirky little café and also sells really good coffee, so if you don’t fancy food but just want to grab a drink then its also a good place to go in my opinion. They have a good selection of homemade cakes too if you fancy something a bit sweeter! An extra point to make is that they have outdoor seating, so when it’s a sunny day its an even more enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend this place, and the staff always welcome you with a smile too.

I consider myself to be a real cappuccino connoisseur and, without realising it, have embarked on a hunt for the best cuppa cappuccino around. And as Sam G has said they serve a mean one, it is the best i have had in the Redland/Clifton area, barring possibly the Potted Parrot on Chandos road. Right, now i have got that off my chest we can have chat about everything else they make and then maybe i can answer some questions. The light airy interior is a great place to sit in the summer months and watch he world pass by. the tables are typically café-esque, small, but if you have got a big group i am sure you will be allowed to pull them together! Question? Yes, the stack of cup cakes in the window are as good as they look and you are going to miss out unless you have one.

A brilliant little café that serves one of the best cappuccino’s(Is that spelt right?) I have ever had! You will probably also notice the amazing cakes they sell as well, they are pretty big and have some beutiful butter icing on top, highly recommended, but you migh struggle to get through more than one. The wraps they sell are very hearty. If I usually say to someone I had a wrap for dinner, they will give me a look of ‘is that all’ picturing a generic supermarket wrap that is done in 3 bites, but don’t be fooled, a Chickpea wrap is massivley filling and requires a huge plate, and with a side of sweet chilli sauce it makes it top notch meal! Very freindly service, and a brilliant café.

Hippy by name, hippy by nature. Chickpea is a sweet little café in which to relax and unwind, after an equally relaxing day in subdued Clifton Village. Even though they do serve lunch time dishes, I’ve never got round to giving them a try — as I get far too tempted by their delicious cakes. Chickpea is definitely one of my favourite places for a cup of tea and a cup cake. It’s best enjoyed when the sun is shining so you get the benefit of sitting on their patio. The boys and girls who work here are laid back, friendly and always wear a smile.

From what I can gather, this place seems pretty newly opened(the name of it is just on a Blackboard at the front of the shop), but I was more than impressed when I entered on a dreary Wednesday afternoon. I was in search of coffee and cake and was drawn to the beautifully sparkly cupcakes in the window. I think cupcakes are my new favourite dessert, mmmmm, this one was even served with whipped cream on the side. The café has about 6 tables in a long line with a patio space at the back. I felt like a spot of reading, and found a little book amongst the Bristol and Clifton life Magazines, entitled«The worst case scenario handbook — travel» and learnt how to halt a runaway camel and treat a severed limb(thankfully that one was after I’d finished eating). The café had a great atmosphere to hang out in, and the boss was really friendly and hospitable. If you’re after more than a cupcake, this place also do a Sicilian menu and a selection of wraps, which look great. I’m definitely looking forward to lunching here soon.
