Nice place to hang out, meet friends. Lots of couchs for a lazy afternoon. The food is good but inconsistent. Overall, the place isn’t kept up well. The last three times I visited, the ladies toilet and downstairs toilet were out of soap.

Quite a large place this with seats decently arranged for watching sport on the tv. You can also watch the chefs make pizzas in their oven to the left of the bar(the end product didn’t look too convincing around the edges but as they do 2−4−1 deals some nights before 7pm you won’t break the bank taking the chance). Plenty of board games available if that’s your thing and the spirits available looked to be pretty extensive. Only one real ale on though, if my memory’s not deceiving me.

This is always where my husband would escape to when he wanted to watch the football on the big screen. Sometimes I’d join him in there for a swift pint and I liked what I saw. Cheapish drinks prices, laid back vibe and friendly staff. Situated on Cotham Hill it is a bit of a student magnet so is much quieter during the summer months, which is nice as you can always get a seat. They do amazing Pizzas in here too for about a fiver I think. It used to be my local and I have to say, I didn’t go in there as much as I should have but I do find myself missing it every now and again.

The Hill is student central on a Tuesday night when their excellent range of gourmet pizzas are reduced to a wallet-friendly two for the price of one deal. The pizzas are tasty, filling and there’s a huge variety of different toppings to choose from. The same thing happens on Thursday night when cocktails are 2−4−1, so it’s no wonder The Hill is always fill to bursting with the Bristol university students who study up the road. There’s also a pool table, plenty of screens which regularly show big games and an agreeable, friendly atmosphere all round. The décor is in the standard modern pub vein, but this is countered by the venue’s constant lively buzz, even on weeknights.

The Hill is a slightly upmarket student venue. In my opinion the food and drink are a little over priced The Hill makes up for this though by their Tuesday2−4 – 1– pizzas(£7) and their 2−4−1− cocktails usually just over £5. The pizzas are stonebaked right in front of you from the oven in the corner of the bar. The cocktail list is impressive and taste really good. For such a large, open area the bar always seems ridiculously dark and dingy, which is a shame because the décor is nice and simple.

Being so close to the University The Hill is often filled with students, especially on Tuesday’s when they have their 2−4−1 offers. This large pub/bar makes a mean pizza that is, without a doubt, worth the change they ask you to depart with. Despite the large floor space the room rarely feels empty, because of its long shape. This on the other hand would lead you to expect it to be bad place to watch sport, although they have gone to great lengths to make sure you can always see a screen. The Kitchen is open to the eyes of the customer so you can see the chefs making your pizzas, always a nice touch in my book! My only criticism: the bar staff are often a little frosty. My only advice: avoid the typically busy times when they have any offers on!

We met up at The Hill for the two for one pizza last Tuesday. It just so happened that there was a football match going on that night so there were throngs of students perched on every surface and standing in every space. We decided to stay anyways since the pizza was smelling awesome. It cost 7.95−8.95 for a 12″ pizza. I ordered a goat cheese pizza and my cohort ordered the meat special. They were both completely delicious. I think the sauce really makes the pizza. It had a nice tangy, bold flavour. Our other two friends ordered a margherita and something with sardines which looked not quite as good as ours. We argued amongst us whether 0degrees has better pizza. I advocated adamantly for the Hill, and you can’t beat the price! I think I’m going to become a Tuesday night fixture at this place.

If you’ve visited Cotham Hill before you won’t be surprised to hear that it’s an absolute favourite for students attending the local university. But if these young pretty things start getting on your nerves, there’s one place in Clifton Village you can go to escape them; The Hill. Inside you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere, a choice of local beverages and some scrummy stone baked pizza. The prices are quite high for an ordinary pub, but you come to expect that in Clifton. Best avoided when there’s a big sporting event, unless you’re a big fan of big screen events yourself.

This is a sports bar situated in the heart of studentville, so expect the resulting crowd. It has the slight feel of a chain, but it’s not. If you’re into your sports though, this is definitely the place to come, as there’s a big screen, along with widescreen TVs dotted all over the place which show all the main fixtures. The pizzas are the main selling point, which are baked in a big stone oven in the corner of the bar, which gives the otherwise slightly boring interior its main focal point. Large comfy leather sofas and popular beers make this an acceptable place to chill out and watch a match in, but apart from a series of drink promotions over the week — 2−4−1 Pizzas on a tuesday, daily drinks promotions before 7, and 2−4−1 cocktails on a thursday night — there’s nothing too special to shout about.

Named after Cotham Hill, where it’s found, this is a popular place that mostly caters for students. Despite it’s studentish crowd it is quite up-market, with smart wooden floors and a big oven in the corner serving up pizza(which at £7 makes for a reasonably priced lunch). The beer is in the continental lager vein and overpriced, the only real let down here and why I’m not a regular. How they manage to pack in so many people and get away with the prices they do is a bit of a mystery to me, but congrats to them anyway. The sofas in the corner are perfect for lounging around in during the day when it’s quiet here. They have a pool table as well so you could waste a good portion of the day here if you put your mind to it. The Hill is a bit expensive for me but I can see what pulls people in

If you’re looking for somewhere to go and watch the football with your mates where the Dorises won’t complain about being dragged to, the Cotham Hill is about as good as it gets in Bristol. It’s been renovated fairly recently so it’s presentable in that weird way that girls like(i.e. it’s got sofas) and the food is also pretty decent. The speciality is pizzas which they knock up right in front of you in a big clay oven. Go along on Tuesday when it’s two-for-one and ask for the sweet chilli chicken pizza.
