Traditional multi roomed pub yet open planned. A very popular back laines local with a wide range of customers. Good atmosphere. Variety of types of seating and styles which blend to make a very enjoyable place to have a drink. They only serve Harvey’s hence only 4 stars. Beer quality very good and the food looks great.

The Lord Nelson is one of the few pubs in Brighton that will show the football on the weekend. It doesn’t just show it… it pulls down the screen and projects it larger than life on the wall! The space to watch the game is small but it creates an exciting atmostphere. The patrons are nice and fun to be around which also helps! The bar serves up ales and all of your pub needs. If you visit, check out the cork board(Literally wine bottle corks) just on the right as you enter… it is worth the visit alone in my opinion(that is for the girls…). If in need of a drink and a spot to watch the game… head to Lord Nelson.

Visited here during the weekend of the Brighton Half Marathon. The selection is alright, five or so Harveys ales and a handful of other stuff. The condition of the beers was decent. The setting is quite cozy with a pretty nice, wrap-around bar and a selection of large, kitchen tables as well as smaller tables. There’s also a TV. No real qualms. When one conjures up an image of a British Pub I think they approximate a place like this. Not the best pub in Brighton, but worth checking out I suppose.

The Lord Nelson is the best pub in Brighton for drinking beers from that august Sussex brewer, Harvey’s of Lewes. They tend to have 3 or 4 Harvey’s numbers on the pumps and they have a fridge full of bottles too. And even if you’re driving there’s no excuse not to imbide: they even do the low alcohol John Harvey beer in bottles here. I’ve been drinking in the Nelson for over ten years and it’s a delight. It’s definitely a place to meet freinds in for a few quiet drinks. It’s no hopping hotspot, just a brilliant and convivial boozer. Friendly but old-fashioned. Harvey’s Sussex best is a tricky beer. Lots of people say it doesn’t travel well, and it’s too easy to get a bad pint of it in Brighton. In fact, most of the times, you get a bad pint of Harvey’s in Brighton. At the Lord Nelson they take total pride in the beer and the reuslt is shiny, perfect real ale. It’s actually at the Nelson that me and my mates have invented a new pursuit that’s ideal if you have nothing to do the next day. Do the Harvey’s Wallbanger. Have a half or bottle of every Harvey’s brew on offer. You’ll be squiffy as anything by the end of the night but you will have tried some fine ale. They’ve developed the Nelson in recent years. It’s not just the cosy and rustic front bars now. Out the back they have a bigger ‘barn’ area that has greatly expanded the pub. They host gigs and meeting in this room too.

From the outside this place looks as uninviting as a disused kennels, but don’t be fooled by appearances you shallow punter you! You nearly missed out on of the best pubs in Brighton with one of the best Sunday roasts in town, and if that’s not enough they have a stunning extension out the back that leads onto a very lovely beer garden for summer boozing. If you are just down in Brighton for the day, this is handily placed very near the station and a lovely way to finish off the weekend or start off a day trip with an early morning pint.

The Lord Nelson is another great North Laines pub, its has a really traditional vibe and has obviously been a boozer for yonks. They have great pub grub but only for lunch timers. It attracts an array of young profs, students, ageing hipsters and of course some oldies come for the real ale… including local fave Harveys. They also show sports and makes for a nice cosy environment to catch the footy.

A surprisingly nice pub. The first time I was dragged in here by a friend who was a regular, I was a little apprehensive, as it looked to me like very much an ‘old mans pub’. It can be that, to a degree, but in a friendly, old-school kind of way, rather than being intimidating and grubby. The pub is divided into two main sections — a lively section by the bar, and a quieter back part. This then leads onto a huge conservatory area, which offers a very different feel to the old fashioned main pub. It’s very popular with Brighton and Hove Albion fans, and is a surprisingly good place to watch football on the big screen, as long as you can get a seat with a good viewpoint. Sunday roasts are also recommended.

The Lord Nelson is one of those pubs where you end up coming out with a couple of new mates at the end of the night. Really nice clientele. There’s two main saloons and now a huge conservatory at the back of the pub which is great in the summer. They’ve now opened up a small patio for people to pop out for a smoke too. The food here is lovely(lunch only) but if you’ve missed the lunch hours, they have the menus from a pizza restaurant just over the road and they’re more than happy to let you eat them in the pub. Great selection of Harvey’s beers, couple of ciders and some great lagers too. The wine list also has loads of interesting New World wines available. The pub also boasts a famous regular too! Mark Williams of Fast Show and Harry Potter fame. If you’re heading in from outside Brighton for a night out, this place is ideal as its right near Brighton Station(turn left under the bridge) and is just on the outskirts of the North Laines.

The Lord nelson an be found in the edge of the North Laines just down from Brighton Station. It’s location and small size can mean it gets a little rammed but in a good way. Its a traditional old boozer with a conservatory for the summer months and open fires for cosy winter evenings. The location of the pub means it attract locals and visitors alike, its particularly popular for business lunches and with after work drinkers. The menu offers burgers, salads and jackets and of course a roast on a Sunday… vege friendly. They welcome families and dogs so its a great place to stop for a bite before heading into town with the kiddywinks.

The Lord Nelson is a brilliant pub, it is peopled by a mix of lovely eccentrics, students and casual groups of young professionals. There are four rooms spread horseshoe like round the bar and each has a slightly different atmosphere but all feel comfortable and welcoming. The bar staff all seem to be great friends and banter happily together– they also make a pretty decent pub quizz team for the quizz they hold there every tuesday night from about half eight. The quizz is just the right level of arcane knowledge and general knowledge and always gives you hope of the top prize– some cash from the moneyy gathered by those who enter– entry is a £1. They have come up with the rather genius idea of serving pizza which they bring in from the Pizzeria across the street– classic thin Italian style pizza. They also happen– according to boyfriend– to sell the best bags of pork scratchings to be found in Brighton. Very nice with a pint of Harvey’s.

Not one of my favorites because I’m not a great Harveys fan. This pub is cosy with ramshackle furniture. The staff are friendly. There is plenty of space. They did make a mistake by covering over their garden. There are few pubs in this area with an isolated outside area. And due to the smoking ban I think they should revue this area. The beer is kept well and CAMRA mmbers think highly of this place.

This is a cosy and friendly Harveys pub, situated close to Brighton railway station. The interior is traditional in style, with two small front rooms, one of which opens out to a large covered conservatory at the rear. The attraction here is the range of Harveys beers, including some of the rarer types — current beers include the ‘Knots of May’ Light Mild(3% ABV) and XXXX Old Ale(4.3% ABV). They do above-average pub grub at lunch-times, and famous special ‘curry nights’ — see website for details. There’s also a weekly quiz night. Service can be a tad slow, as they get quite busy of an evening and the bar areas are small. A good alternative to the Evening Star if you are waiting for a train from Brighton.
