Superb coffee and juice too. I had rather excellent Spanish Toast with Bacon(done Barcelona style with garlic rubbed over it after toasting) and avacado. The missus had kedgeree which was a first for her and it was a total winner Did I mention how good the coffee was? It was excellent!

This place has been taken over recently by a bunch of incompetent idiots. Don’t waste your time or money here. Today I waited 20 minutes for a menu(inspite of a half empty café), another 30 minutes for food(pot of tea I ordered was a cheap tea bag and tasted like water) and after ordering panini was eventually served two biscuit sized portions(along with naff salad and handful of tortillas). Quite a shock. I’ve never seen such small servings of panini. When it came to paying I couldn’t find anyone for a bill and in spite of being urged by fellow diners to just leave I insisted on staying to pay. When I complained at the till about my disappointment in the portions I was jeered at by the(Spanish?) staff. Quite a shock! Go elsewhere for food in Brighton. There are plenty of good places with good food and staff that know how to treat customers.

The food was good. The food was really good. If you are simply looking for this box to check… then Inside Out could be the perfect breakfast spot for you. My concern walking away from the Brighton Brunch spot was their lack of management in dealing with a full restaurant. …or even a half full restaurant. We went in around 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon… prime Brunch/Post Night Out Hangover time. The outside seating was 75% full and the inside was 10% full… we opted for inside. The server came over and informed us that our food would take 25 – 30 minutes as the kitchen was overloaded. I have concerns here. We were sitting inside with one other table… not at all near capacity and the kitchen can’t handle the volume of orders? When our White Americanos arrived they were 90% milk and much too weak so now we have a hot milk drink and no food for 25 minutes. I ordered the Full English Breakfast(See photo) and my man the«Big Boy Sandwich/Bacon, Sausage, Egg on a baguette». Once the food arrived and we ordered a new Americano instructing the kitchen how to make it… the meal was lovely. All in all, the breakfast was nice but as the 2 star rating says«Meh! I’ve experienced better»

We visited recently for breakfast and enjoyed a very nice eggs benedict and a healthy sized full english. The eggs benedict came with a light and creamy hollandaise sauce and smoked salmon. Very pleasant indeed. The full english had exceptionally tasty bacon and sausage and the whole meal was washed down with a couple of decent coffees. The atmosphere of the café was nice and relaxed and service just right which made the whole experience very enjoyable. As for the price, for perhaps a couple of pounds more than your average greasy spoon, you get a wide range of breakfast choice, good quality ingredients and a very nice experience. Well worth a visit.

In the heart of the North Laine, this tiny café features full-size helpings. Potato wedges are thick and flavoursome, accompanied by garlic, chilli and mayo dips. The Sardinian special smoked ricotta, pancetta, artichoke hearts and peppers is pricey at £12.95 but it packs a punch. I had a good gawp at what the other diners were eating and full plates were a consistent theme. This wouldn’t be the North Laine without a quirky feature the ‘loo with a view’ features a one-way mirror, allowing you to spy on your fellow diners as you go about your business. I guess it’s the management’s idea of toilet humour.

I came to this lovely looking café before a recent job interview, searching for a coffee to calm my nerves and set the creative juices flowing. Unfortunately though, the location and tasteful décor was about as good as it got. I bought a cappuccino, which was priced at the standard rate of £1.80. My complaint really was in the coffee itself; it was extremely bitter, tasting like it had made its way through the toilet on the way to my mug. What was more frustrating however, was that my coffee had sugar put in. As somebody who takes coffee without sugar, that was really quite annoying, and unnecessary.

Inside Out café only has about 5 tables inside, so during the cold winter months, you’d best go early to beat the breakfast and/or lunch rush. I am quite looking forward to returning for the lovely patio in the summertime. Unfortunately, when my friend and I arrived craving breakfast foods, the kitchen had run out of eggs — a real disappointment with the eggs Florentine, veggie breakfast, eggs and mushrooms on toast and eggs Benedict options now off the table. We had chosen a couple sandwiches as backup, but — yay! — eggs arrived. The veggie sausages were amazing — not the frozen fake-meat variety, but actual vegetables and grains shaped into pseudo-sausages and friend until deeelicious. The veggie breakfasts were £4.95, and completely filled us up — plus came with either coffee or tea. Lunch items included salads, and sandwiches on a variety of breads and rolls. The cake display case was very tempting, but we were much too stuffed to even share a piece. Note to self: return for vegan carrot cake. Another feature worth mentioning is the slightly off-putting toilet with the trick mirror. Worth popping in even if you don’t have to go.

Inside Out is one of Brighton’s coolest places to grab brunch or lunch. It’s two minutes walk from Kensington Gardens and yet, feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of the North Laines. There’s a small patio and a cluster of tables outside as well as a number of cosy tables, chairs and curved plaster benches inside. Aesthetically, it looks like a café you might stumble across in Portugal or Greece but the feel is much more Greenwich Village with everything from The Ramones to Billy Idol on the stereo! The real reason Inside Out is a Must Visit however, is the divine and delicious food. Brunch includes full veggie and english breakfasts, eggs benedict, kedgeree, pancakes and fruit and eggs with soldiers. I ordered the latter yesterday and was delighted when they arrived in a joint eggcup with matching chicken covers! The lunch menu is just as extensive with a wide range of freshly made bagels, panninis, dips and chips, salads and daily specials. The prices are incredibly reasonable — think £3-£8 for mains — and the drinks menu includes refreshing juices, smoothies, teas and coffees. Go by all means but come Saturday brunch, I want the table with the most sun!

Was good — less so now. Think it has changed hands. My Sunday breakfast was not as superb as it was, coffees that arrived after we’d eaten and were not what we ordered, table was dirty and staff who text rather then engage customers turn me off.
