I am only reviewing coffee, haven’t had cakes: The coffee is amazing and totally makes up for the lack of WiFi. The staff is super friendly. Will visit again!

So I am on the hunt for a new coffee haunt since my beloved Taylor Street Baristas closed down, and Coffee@33 has been on my list of places to go for a while. I was in the area yesterday so I popped in for a a quick flat white. It was delicious, and definitely a contender for best flat white in Brighton in my eyes. The only problem I felt was that the atmosphere was a bit flat. furniture is minimal, and that’s perfectly OK! However there was no music or anything and it just made me feel super aware of people around me having conversations etc. Also due to the lack of tables etc, I wouldn’t say this is the best place to go if you are looking to do a bit of work. I don’t think they have Wifi, but the coffee speaks for itself! If you want a bloody good cup of Joe, then go here! *I also bought a white chocolate and peanut butter blondie to take home — WOWEE!!! IT was SO yummy! Scott was very envious as I devoured it in front of him.

I love this place! Great coffee, friendly service, awesome cake. What could go wrong? I have nothing bad to say about this place, so if you’re looking for a winging review, this isn’t the one for you. The coffee is silky, short and perfectly roasted. You don’t need a big cup to feel satisfied that you’ve got your fix, and the staff have a reassuring and confident presence about them that makes you feel that you’re getting the best coffee in town. I had the orange and polenta cake and wasn’t disappointed. Moist, citrusy and melt in the mouth, it hit every spot. Great job, I’m here regularly anyway so see you again soon!

I’ve just upgraded from Small Batch to here — could there be another level to coffee quality than this in Brighton? I am on a quest nd I’m not hopeful.

Fantastic coffee, great service and nice food. No wifi but the coffee more than makes up for their fear of the Internet.

I’m a coffee fan, and this is the best coffee in Brighton, for my money. Friendly staff, nice sandwiches, but it’s the coffee. Great stuff.

This is a great place for coffee. Coffee culture from some parts of America, Australia and New Zealand is starting to make its mark on coffee in the UK and Europe… which is great for everyone involved. It’s good for the farmers in bean-growing countries(mostly), as many roasters look more toward sustainable relationships with an emphasis on single origin, small-batch varietals — in a way comparable to what some wine makers have been doing for decades. But mostly it’s good for people who drink coffee — because you get a place like this pop up in Brighton, where the espresso is proper.

If I hadn’t been to Milk no Sugar before popping in here I would have felt guilty, like I was ignoring my true love on trafalgar street and sneaking off to indulge in my dirty little secret. An unassuming place with basic seating and a few cushions in the window, coffee @ 33 serve up great coffee using Monmouth beans. All the classics are available, I went for a double macchiato but as I had already been for a coffee already I had it to go. The chap serving was really friendly and very knowledgable about his products and the different ways to serve them which I think is very important as there’s nothing worse that a poorly made coffee knocked up by someone who doesn’t really care about their craft. I do enjoy working in a coffee shop and this place really is a great option if you are in this part of town as it is very chilled and relaxing. Coffee @33 is an true independent who pays their taxes(not mentioning any big names) and contributes to the local economy. Grab a coffee here and do your bit to support them today!

Now this is real coffee! I’m by no means a coffee connoisseur, but this coffee tastes incredible. I always say I’m happy with an instant coffee and, to be honest, can never really taste the difference, but after my trip to Coffee @ 33 I feel like that’s all about to change… The coffee I had was strong and flavoured like none I had ever had before — sharp, but not too bitter. Sweet, but not sickly. Perfection in a cute little white mug(with a tiny little handle). This place is cool, but still comfortable, with only a few seats dotted around the tiny interior. It’s simple, but effective and very much has a modern and sophisticated feel about the place. The staff we lovely and friendly — just as I like em — and were happy for my friend and I to sit leisurely with our coffees and chat, which is nice considering their lack of seating(they could be in a hurry for a quick turnover, but they were not pushy at all!). The food looked to die for, but sadly I did not get a chance to sample any of it this time around. I’ll be back to try it, and to grab myself another one of their fantastic coffees. Check it out everyone! It’s worth it.

Coffee @ 33 is a cute little café shop in the North Laines. Service was prompt and prices are reasonable. They have a massive window to look out of and people watch with comfy seats available.

I stopped in here after arriving in Brighton to grab a cup of coffee for a quick pick-me-up for my day of hanging out with other Unilocalers. It seemed like a hip, trendy, and cool hang out spot that would rival any coffee shop in Santa Cruz or Berkeley. They had a list of espresso drinks, but what intrigued me the most was their cold brew coffee for iced coffee. I’m a huge fan of regular filter coffee. I do like espresso drinks, but I will generally opt for a non-espresso drink when given the choice so I went for it. At first the coffee just tasted bitter to me. Which is unfortunate. I’ve made cold brew coffee before, and I’ve never noticed such a bitter taste. Cold brew coffee generally isn’t that bitter due to the process of using cold water as a medium instead of hot water. I’m really not sure what they did, but it was difficult to deal with at first. It slowly grew more palatable as I drank it, either due to the ice melting and dilution, or my taste buds growing accustomed to the drink. It’s unfortunate as it seemed like a cool place. I’d definitely give them another chance, but I’d go for something espresso-y next time and forgo the cold brew all together.

Coffee was so delicious! Perfectly smooth latte, just the right strength and beautiful latte art. Wildly moist and tasty almond and rhubarb slice. I would go back here in a flash. Is also a refreshing break from the lovable but bright and kitschy lanes.

I thought I’d written a review of this place last time I was in town and partaking of its caffeinated loveliness. There’s no sass, no smugness, no fuss, and really tasty Monmouth coffee. Non-London price: 2.20 for a flat white. Ah. –cosy outside space in the back to chill in, if you’re not inclined to sit on a stuffed coffee sack in the window, and watch the action inside the café. 33 is small; it’s all in front of you, or, if you’re sitting along the wall, right behind you. Speaking of which, the WC is freakishly small. When you open the door take care not to walk straight into the toilet as it’s RIGHT in front of you. Semi-ick alert: there are never any hand towels in the john. My jeans have been the ersatz ‘hand drier’ every time I visit 33.

One of the best coffee shops in btighton for quality coffee. The food is great also and the staff are friendly. Perhaps the only third wave coffee place in brighton, it’s a must. This is some of the best coffee I’ve had. Try the flat white, it’s like a latte with a little less milk and a little more coffee, a very pleasant drink, you can taste the flavor of the coffee without bring overwhelmed. The only downside is that there is no comfy seating, this is not somewhere you can really hang out with a larger group of friends due to the seating and the size. The quality though makes up for this, if you want to chill for hours on comfy sofas and don’t care about the quality of your drink then go go to somewhere like start bucks where you can drink crappy tasting brown water in comfy chairs.

I dare anyone to say anything about the coffee in this shop! THe service is friendly, if you are in a hurry go to starbucks! The care they put into the coffee shows with its incredible aroma and taste! The sandwiches /paninis are tasty and not too complicated! I am NOT a fan of the flapjack but I cant like everything in there — tho the Orange and poppy seed cars is to die for! SM

This place was great. Small, fairly quiet, nice environment, cool people. I loved just listening to the guys behind the counter joke with each other, pretty fun staff. Pastries looked good although I didn’t have any. Very cool spot overall. Seating isn’t too comfy, and there is no wifi, but then again its a cool place to come without tons of computers everywhere… nice just meeting a friend or a date. :)

A simply lovely and basic place not just for coffee and other great drinks but lunch too! I don’t want to say to much else as there’s enough people coming and I want to be able to get in in future!

Such an understated little shop for such great coffee You will definitely have to time it just right(or lurk around the café waiting) if you want to enjoy a coffee here of a weekend-it’s that good. Without prompting, a few people have been talking to me about joining them here for a drink, so unfortunately people are catching on. The cappuccinos and lattes are real well done and you get to sit on coffee sacks-just a Panama hat and I would have truly felt like part of a Columbian drug cartel.

The antithesis of Costa, Starbucks and all the big chains, Coffee @ 33 is a unique, stylish coffee shop that utilises recycled coffee sacks as seating. There’s only room to seat about 10 – 15 people at the same time but it’s worth making a special trip for the great service, friendly atmosphere and excellent coffee. The beans are ground fresh on site and both the normal and decaf coffee are from the London independent — Monmouth Coffee Co. Coffee. So far, I’ve tried the espresso, the cappucino, latte and americano and they were all sublime. For those feeling peckish, there’s also a small but mouth-watering selection of home-made brownies, muffins, shortcakes, carrot cake and toasties. If only more coffee shops were like this, I’d hop, skip and jump down the street…
