Burger King

Been there for the first time but unfortunately it was so busy and loud, not sure why people love it that much.

Nothing beats fast food. Burger King exceeds my expectations. I’d rather go here than McDonald’s to be honest. A perk to please the masses. I hereby introduce to you, the drinks machine outside the counter! Don’t we just love them?! Bottomless drinks and a first here in BK Brighton. I salute you BK Brighton!

Burger King lets me have it my way. And my way is having a Double Cheeseburger King Deal. It’s cheap (£2.99) and it fills me up. The meal definitely makes me feel like a burger king, which means a king who is fat and out of shape.
The great thing about this Burger King is its size. It’s huge. This is truly the largest Burger King I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to a lot). It’s like a castle, and your seat is your throne, and if you get a Kid’s Meal, you can even get a crown. It’s the perfect setting for you to feast on your meal, whatever that may be. You can have a Whopper, 6 mini pancakes, apple fries, ice cream, fries, and a Coke. Pick and choose, mix and match, so you can have a meal that will make you feel like a king.

Decked out like an American diner with checked floors and bright red walls with posters and big TV screens, you’d think it’d be a cool place to sit and chomp on a Whopper.
And it would be, if you actually manage to get your hands on one. When it’s busy you can expect to spend at least 15 minutes in the queue, mainly due to the 10 or so people who push in front, oblivious to the concept of manners.
The staff scrabble hurriedly behind the counter like malfunctioning robots and proudly guard the turnstiled toilets, the entry fee is a whopping 50p or your receipt of purchase.
On the plus side, it’s open ’til 4am on the weekends, and 1am Monday to Thursday, so you can get your greasy fix when the clubs spill out.
And if you were man enough to stand your ground in the queue you can pat yourself on the back and watch Britney Spears gyrate on the big screen while you devour your prize.
Look out for depressed Burger King employees thrusting vouchers in your face on North Street as you can double your daily calorie intake for half the price.

Apparently Burger King will microwave a cheese burger for a few seconds after it’s cooked in order to melt the cheese. Apparently this is common practice, as my ex-​BK worker friend told me. This isn’t a fact that bothers me too much — BK burgers are greasy and yummy — if those criteria are ticked I’m not looking for much more! However, the woman who threatened to beat up the BK staff when she saw they’d microwaved her burger at 2am the other morning wasn’t so happy. She shouted incoherently and made them make her another one. When she saw them microwave that too, she went crraaaazy! Some people need to chill out — BK is what it is. If you head there at 2am — which, if you’re a student, you no doubt will at some stage — be nice to those poor staff!

If you’ve ever walked along the pavement between Churchill Square and North Street (crossing West Street in the process), you may have had a leaflet thrust into your hand with all sorts of deals for Whoppers or Bacon Double Cheese Burgers. If you’re intent on going to Burger King then be sure to get one of these to save yourself some cash.
This Burger King is actually pretty impressive. What isn’t immediately apparent obvious is the sheer size of the place. Last year, I even watched several games in the Euro 2008 championships in the huge seating area at the back of the building.
So, it’s huge, they sometimes have a big screen and there are plenty of offers to keep you happy and save you some money. However this is Burger King aka a fast food restaurant, so I wasn’t particularly impressed by the healthiness of the food, or the quality sometimes — though their burgers are pretty tasty!
The final pull of this particular Burger King is their opening hours — until 4am. Fantastico!

I’m actually a fan of Burger King. Sure, its food may not be particular good for your health, but then, neither is alcohol or dating, and there still a lot of fun. This store offers you exactly what you’d expect from a Burger King experience: fast food, that tastes nice, and clogs your arteries. If you’re feeling peckish late at night, this particular branch is open till around four in the morning, though I have to say I feel exceptionally sorry for the staff operating at that time, who have to deal with all of the drunkenly shambolic individuals stumbling in and out of ‘the King’ in the wee hours of the morning, seemingly completely oblivious to how obnoxious their behaviour is, all of whom make me personally hesitant to venture inside at such times.

Well, what you see is what you get. Its incredibly central, very very busy — and to be fair, the staff are well trained and fast, they manage the queues well, its kept clean. On ordinary days, it can be okay to sit there for a bit — coffee and fries are good.
