Right on Broad street a short walk from the canal, this place is built into the side of the building and is modern fancy. Its clean and sleek. Depending where you sit you may feel like you are on display like a fish in an aquarium. The menu comes in a box with a drinks list as well as another offering book, forgot what it was duh. The The food is standard Indian for the most part but this is not curry from a late night curry shop, it has a higher quality taste and definitely presentation, although I love late night curry shops. The food quality is good and the service was great, although we were ahead if the dinner rush so less people. We were treated very well. The staff was dressed very well(smart). As many places are in UK, rice and naan are separate charges so do the math. If you want a fancy experience and good food this is the place.

Elevated Indian food. Loved the tandoori tofu! The vegetable korma, saag paneer and lamb shank were all excellent and the mushroom rice was a perfect accompaniment. Rocky was our server and was excellent. I was a bit miffed that they didn’t have any Rieslings or wines that pair well with Indian Food. We have Rose Champagne — good but surprised at the lack of wines that are notorious for working well with Indian food.

I have eaten the food here on many occasions. The food, the service and atmosphere is some of the best you will get in the city of birmingham.

What a great restaurant. This was my second visit to Birmingham, and I was so happy to return to Pushkar. I happened upon it during my first trip to the city while looking for a decent place to eat in the middle of a bustling area with tons of loud bars and so-so restaurants. So glad I found this place. Best ambience in the center city. Fantastic food and service — especially Azad who was amazingly attentive and friendly. The Vesper Martini is delicious. Pushkar made for a great, welcoming, delicious experience while away from home. A must-do every time I’m in Birmingham…

This is one of my favourite restaurants, I have been here many times. It a very special restaurant to me as this is where my husband proposed. The cocktails are amazing and there is a wide variety. I love the décor, it’s has cosy orange tinged ligthing. I always have the gol guppe and my husband has the king prawns. So tasty! I don’t normally rate Indian restaurant food very highly, but Pushkar is very good. Main course I have dal makhani, so creamy and delicious. Choc cake for dessert. Winner.

Pushkar is probably the best Indian restaurant I’ve eaten at. Visited recently with Adam S. and the family for a celebratory dinner and would say it is a great venue for a special occasion or just a little bit of indulgence! A bustling cocktail bar and award-winning restaurant in the middle of Broad St., Pushkar has a pretty glamorous feel to it. You walk in to be greeted by a serene golden Buddha(as well as friendly staff), which is echoed by the amber light shades and very comfy creamy chairs. The overall look is bright and stylish. This was my second visit to Pushkar; both times the food has been very tasty, with generous portions presented as stylishly as you could want. The(leather bound) menu offers a good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, along with sides, rice and breads, and is not mind-bogglingly large. This time I opted for one of the restaurant’s signature dishes — leg of lamb cooked in a rich sauce. The lamb was delicious, and really tender, the sauce really flavourful. On the side I had saffron rice and a peshwari naan(fave), which was light and sweet. My fellow diners opted for various lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes between them and all were devoured and received glowing reviews. Pushkar offers a range of beers and wines but we all opted to try some cocktails. The cocktail menu features a range of classics and many more ‘classics with a twist’, including the delicious-sounding white chocolate martini. I chose a ginger mojito — as refreshing as a regular mojito but with a nice bit of gingery warmth. Price-wise, Pushkar isn’t cheap — main courses are around £12-£13 and you then have your extras on top. You pay for the quality, however, and I’d say it is worth the money. Cocktails come in at around £7, which I think is fairly standard for the city centre. All in, this meal came to about £30 per person. Throughout the meal the service was excellent. Our attentive waiter introduced himself to us once we were seated, and offered helpful descriptions of each dish as we ordered.

Really really excellent Indian food. Pushkar brings great levels of subtlety to India’s bold flavours and everything we had for dinner was excellent. The salmon was so delicious I could have eaten three of them. If you’re in Birmingham, Pushkar is definitely worth a shot.

Amazing. Probably the best Indian I’ve had in the UK ever. From the place settings(which were really lovely) to the service they gave us(amazing and just the right amount of attention) to the meals themselves(the traditional Biryani served with a cap of pastry to keep it moist) it really was a great meal, a great experience and a thoroughly enjoyable restaurant.

Craving for Indian food I took my chance and pushed the door of Pushkar for an early dinner. They had just opened their door at 5PM. This was one of the better meal I had in Birmingham. The highlights were the service and the rose lassi that was exceptional. The food was not exceptional but good and traditional, meaning not being westernized and I appreciated that. I will definitely go back when in town.

I’ve passed Pushkar many times(its well-located on Broad St) but only ventured in yesterday as I usually prefer kitschy décor or sultry lighting– Pushkar is very white and bright. But we really liked it. Although I’m hardly the one to know, the menu seemed different to other Indian restaurants, with some(to me) unfamiliar dishes, which all sounded great. The salmon Dildar(marinated in spices and chargrilled in the tandoor) was exceptionally good, and the selection of main courses was equally good, with some great fish dishes. I think food is more fusion than traditional, and I appreciated the fact that there was a greater choice of ‘dry’ marinated dishes and not just plates filled with sauce. My partner has eaten in many more Indian restaurants than me and he thinks this could be one of his favourites. To top it off, everything is very well presented, the staff were very friendly and attentive and a mistake on the bill was easily remedied. I think that the price does match the quality of the food, and although some of the cocktails seemed a bit expensive the majority were around £6−7.

This was a lovely restaurant in the middle of Broad Street. We started off with a cocktail in the bar, then had a lovely prepared meal with great service! I had the lamb shanks which were lovely and my wife had the tandoori king prawns which she is still raving about! Dessert of Cree brûlée finished it off well!

Pushkar is the definition of fine-dining. Just the ambience they have created with the professional staff and exquisite décor is enough to leave you starry-eyed. They specialise in Punjabi and North Indian cuisine. I went for lunch with a friend and initially I was concerned on how much the bill would break my bank balance, considering their focus on lavish dining. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable their lunch menu is, although this contrasts to their usual menu! I assumed the portions would be small and pretentious, as they usually are in high-end restaurants. So I had a 3-course meal for just £12.95! And the portions were by no means pretentious but the food was delectable! I had the Salmon Dildar because I was intrigued at how salmon could be blended with Indian spices. The result was spectacular! The ras malai was a perfect sweet end to the saag paneer main course. A fine restaurant with extra find food!

Pushkar’s on Broad Street is an absolutely exceptional Indian restaurant, even in Birmingham, the city famed for such cuisine. Whilst prices make it definitely a once in a while treat rather than a regular haunt, it is a great choice for any special occasions. I’ve used it on Valentine’s Day and an anniversary, and on both occasions it’s been completely befitting. The food is superb; I’ve had my fair share of curry, but you can really taste the difference here; if you think you’ve tasted the best available curry, think again. When I went for Valentine’s Day, they had a set menu, which, whilst pricey, presented an extremely tasty and unusual fusion of British and Indian cuisines that was something I wouldn’t normally have chosen, but would now definitely consider when I go again. The interior is suited to the high quality food, an all white effect conveying class and elegance and creating an intimate, romantic atmosphere to enjoy your meal in.

A convenient little restaurant and cocktail bar for that Saturday night out. I called in here with friends, but as we know the food isn’t the best Indian out there, we opted to just have cocktails instead, putting us in the mood to go clubbing nearby after. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the waiters whisk them up like they can do it with their eyes closed. We didn’t have to wait very long, and got served very quickly. Try the Red Emerald which is a great sweet fruity mix. Most of the cocktails are less than £7.00, so wont break the bank. Although ample seating is available if your after the restaurant food, I would personally recommend trying the curry houses on Soho Road, where the food is better quality. Overall though, good for drinks and cocktails.
