City of Birmingham symphony orchestra

This orchestra celebrates its 21^st year this year, and, to be fair, Birmingham can celebrate with it, as it has well and truly put this city on the musical map. Housed in its famous award-​winning Symphony Hall, it continues to dazzle critics and audiences with its top-​class performances and legendary conductors.
It’s always a breathtaking experience going to see them, and time after time they show themselves to be a versatile, imaginative and innovative symphony orchestra. They also run plenty of community projects as well, just to stop it all getting a bit high-​brow and not for the likes of us… These include a youth orchestra, an education programme and singalongs, silent movie nights and the occasional bit of free busker style performance. All in all, they’re a huge asset to Birmingham’s cultural scene.

The CBSO is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s finest musical ensembles. The orchestra performs around 75 concerts each year for the residents. The orchestra also acts as a cultural ambassador for Birmingham when it performs in other UK venues and overseas.
