I love the atmosphere of this historical landmark. This 14th century building has survived wars and is still standing. it’s nooks and crannies and small rooms make his place exciting to have a good wander around. It has a great interior and has a lot of lounge areas and is very good for large groups. There is always a great atmosphere with lots of friendly faces. I have eaten there many of times and have never been disappointed, the food is always lovely and fresh and the menu always leaves me spoilt for choice. The beer garden is seriously the place to be when the sun is out, great summer vibes with a outdoor DJ and quirky garden features. it has outdoor seating so come rain or shine it offers great place to sit down, its also includes outdoor bbq, bar and also includes a ping pong table. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out big time!

The Old Crown is not just Birmingham’s oldest pub, it’s the city’s oldest standing secular building! is a great place, seemingly well known by locals and frequented by everyone from tourists to people who have been around for a while. Really gorgeous interior, with much of the very old(not sure if original) timber frame exposed and beautiful windows. There are several lounge areas that are all really spacious and good for large groups, and a massive beer garden. Drink prices are pretty on par with other mid-range pubs in and around the city centre(£3-ish pints). They have a very sizeable food menu, and a pop up barbecue joint that appears in the beer garden Fridays and Saturdays. The staff are incredibly friendly. This is a great place to stop in if you’re in Digbeth and fancy a drink or a bite to eat.

This is a wonderful old pub, just a minutes walk for the Custard Factory. There are plenty of rooms to tuck yourself away on a cold night, but there is also a huge beer garden at the back — a precious thing in Birmingham!;) I had visited quite a while ago during a weekend and found it really buzzing — people are prepared to travel to this place. There was a great atmosphere:) On my most recent visit however, I was meeting a friend for lunch who works close by. She recommended the burgers and that was indeed a good choice! They did have two for one burritos on that day(for £7 I think), but the Crown burger won me over. The meat was really tasty and the brioche bun was light and fresh. It came with sweet potato fries too, which kinda seems healthy that normal chips for some reason. This burger and a coke were £11, I think they do two for one burgers on a Tuesday lunchtime though:) Service was quick and the staff were friendly. There were a reasonable number of people in there too, a quite a range of ages. I would definitely recommend it:)

I’ve been really disappointed with the food here lately. Which is a shame as I love the guys that run it and they do an awesome gin and tonic! The beer garden’s fab and the they get great DJ’s in on a Friday and Saturday. It’s very rare that I have a bad time here. I just feel like the food’s gone a bit overly complicated and the last couple of times I haven’t been served what was on the menu. That’s aside they do an incredible pie and mash!

I’ve been going to The Old crown for nearly 2 years. In that time I can say that you can’t really ask more out of pub. Not to say that it doesn’t have its little niggles I would be shocked if you didn’t enjoy a night there. The food is served till 10pm most nights and you always find something you can enjoy on the menu. The team in the kitchen are always on it and I have never been left waiting for food. The food is of a good grade but don’t expect to have the best meal of your life there. The Old Crown has just opened up its new beer garden which really transform the space. If you think of Prince of Wales you will have a good idea of what to expect. It is massive, totally covered and on Friday nights have a different food stand there. You will find the bar service really good with staff like Debbie and Jay really standing out as genuinely nice people who can turn a cranky after work pint into a good laugh! All in all you wont find a more welcoming pub in Birmingham and especially in Digbith!
