Great venue for a breakfast or brunch. Impressed at their latest menus as I had stopped calling in here previously as I wasn’t drawn to anything. Boy has that changed… I’d like one of everything ;) so far we have sampled waffles for the sweeter tooth, goats cheese dish and on last visit the eggs benedict with smoked salmon with a portion of black pudding(cos I love it and I was reassured it wasn’t random– someone earlier had ordered exactly this!). One of those meals you don’t want to end. Along side this their coffee is good! Win win. Only downside — some tables are very close to another. Which only bothers you if your neighbour talks loudly through the entirety of their meal. Wouldn’t stop me going again. If you haven’t been go!

I just had brunch here this morning and thought it was a lovely little café with outdoor seating. With today being sunny and warm the outdoor seating appealed to most of the customers, although I sat at their breakfast bar at the window. Typical café food on the menu, but lovely specials on the board crayfish and salmon salad. Quick friendly service.

Fabulous café right on Ormeau Road. Great selection of coffees, pastries, paninis and scones plus they do a pretty good breakfast. Nicely decorated, lovely friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Parking can sometimes be difficult unless you’re lucky enough to get right outside(I never am!) But you can usually squeeze in to one of the side streets. Well worth a visit

Went here for a bank holiday brekkie a while ago. Staff are lovely! I got a Belgian waffle with a poached egg on top thingy. Insanely sugary but yummy. When I go back I’ll probably get the same. Service was very good at a very busy time of the morning. It’s not the cheap muck that some other café’s churn out. Be prepared to spend(just a little bit) more for the good stuff.

Café Le Petit Ormeau is a place I often pass without bothering to go into because it’s frequently busy — thus difficult to get a table. I have however eaten here a few times in the past and the food was lovely — enjoyable breakfasts and a couple of lunches. If it fails on anything, it’s that old chestnut — it simply doesn’t offer enough veggie options. They serve good coffee however and the service was good when I visited. Although essentially a daytime café, they do occasional late openings and serve a variety of small platters(petits plats). On such evenings it’s BYOB. Unfortunately I’ve never attended one of these nights as the petits plats have been predominantly meat or fish dishes the couple of times I’ve checked out the menu. More vegetarian dishes would be better and would tempt me in. However they would also need to stop serving controversial foie gras too. When I spotted foie gras on one of their recent petits plats menu I resolved never to return again — not even for a coffee…

Show me a place that has Eggs Benedict and that is one that I will frequent. Frequently. I love a little brunch in here. Even though I will usually have the eggs, their Croque Monsieur is cheesey and joyous and their sausage bap simple but perfect to perk you up if you’ve had a night in The Errigle a few doors up. They also do nice sweet treats, but it can get a little busy, and as the tables are quite close together save your sweetest gossip for the pub. ;-)
