Neighborhood pub with excellent food. We enjoyed the local Gem Bath ale and found it very good. The staff was very friendly and recommended several excellent items on the menu. We tried the roasted tomato soup, mulled pear salad, braised beef stew, and the vegetable pie. All were excellent. We finished the meal with a sticky toffee pudding which was also very good. Overall, it was a very good experience and this pub is highly recommended!

Amazing to go to a local pub and interact with the locals in a really authentic way. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and as foreigners we felt embraced even though we were in a truly local pub.

Looks good from the outside, but very dreary décor inside. Could do with a makeover. One can see why only locals use it.

Read Phil’s review for the details. This place is even nicer in winter with a roaring open fire to welcome you in from the snow. The food is excellent, well priced and uses local produce as much as possible. The classic dish at the Pulteney Arms is their bangers and mash(choose from about a dozen varieties of sausage) washed down with a pint of Bath brewed Gem ale.

Ah, to spend a saturday afternoon outside the pulteney arms, quaffing bath ales finest… heaven. Set a little off the main road, you can sit on the pavement tables, lean against the wall and watch the world go by. Late afternoon sun bathes the area. The ales are fantastic, and the food isn’t half bad either. Coupled with friendly staff and unobtrusive TV, it’s a really nice place.
