We had the Campana pizza and wow it was delicious! Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had! It was light and full of amazing flavors. Beautiful restaurant, nice ambiance, fast service. Lovely dinner overall.

I know it’s 7o clock at night but we waited 45min for our food and my meat risotto is super salty… It is completely unacceptable salty.

Outstanding choice in Old San Juan. I would say this is the best Italian in San Juan, hands down. The décor is warm and cozy, great spot for«date night». Service was fantastic, food was tasty with nice portions. The wine list was great as well. Highly recommended — — — — —

This was one of the best places we ate in all of San Juan! After a week of tasting delicious Puerto Rican fare all over the island, we were craving something a bit different. We got the gnocchi(supple with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese) and a goat cheese salad(perfectly balanced and well seasoned). The topper of the night was the house Sofia Sangria! Juan, the bartender, makes it just right. It’s served with fresh fruit and many friendly smiles. Get the carafe, it’s worth it.

Best italian restaurant in San Juan! The service was great. The food was exquisite with a lot of detail. Plus, the ambience and decoration was beautifully decorated.

It has a green tent outside of the restaurant. You will actually see«Italian Restaurant» on their sign before seeing«Sofia’s». It has a nice ambiance and the service is good. They also have seating inside their indoor courtyard. They have steak risotto, seafood risotto, and mushroom risotto, which they also offer in half portions. They have many pasta and appetizer choices. They only offer bottled water(vs. tap or filtered water). I ordered the steak risotto which comes with red wine cooked into the risotto. My bf ordered the ground beef fettuccine. We also ordered calamari and a big bottle of water and a coke. The bill was $ 60 before tip. They didn’t have many dessert choices so I recommend you to go elsewhere for dessert. I gave a 4 star because the price was too high for the quality of the food. The food was good, but not the greatest.

The food is just ok. I had for appetizer the worst arancini risotto balls with no taste at all. The bread was evidently mass produced frozen stuff you can get at a supermarket. Plain pizza dough will have probably been a better choice.

This Italian restaurant is a pleasant change of pace from the omnipresent Puerto Rican food in Old San Juan. The food is not exceptional, although it is good. The pasta is not made in-house, and our pasta dish tasted fine but was generic. The skirt steak sandwich was well flavored although a little tough, and the pizza looks like the star of the menu. They do not serve tap water, but honestly, you should be drinking a mojito anyway, which are actually prepared correctly here(rum, water, lime juice, and sugar — like a slightly alcoholic mint limeade). The cost is a little high for OSJ, but I consider it well worth it for strong air conditioning and the modern décor.

No garlic bread!!! An Italian restaurant without BREAD?!? Inconceivable!!! Can not recommend if you are looking to satisfy your craving for carbs.

PHENOMENAL Italian food can be found here. Yes, it’s pricy but their lunch menu is more affordable. They’d be wise to drop their” bottled water only” rule. It’s the only thing that keeps this place from being a totally gracious experience. I had the Chicken Marsala with Pasta… my guest had their pricy-but-superb Brick Oven Pizza… both were fantastic. Sofia’s is relaxing and pretty too. Sit at the bar for lunch… it’s fun to people watch and enjoy a fantastic meal. Continued success to the owners! Try it.

It’s not Puerto Riccan food so sue me. Nothing wrong with Puerto Riccan food but after 8 days of it is time for something else. This food is incredible. Can’t say anymore than that

Please do try the pizza. It is to die for. The people running this place is either from Naples or has been trained there. Yum!

We enjoyed all of the offerings… the pizza with olives and artichoke hearts, Ceasar salad, ice cold beer and great service. Definitely worth a visit to OSJ for.

Stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day in Old Juan. Food was terrific and service was outstanding. My wife and I shared the caprese salad and enjoyed the white sangria… which was very authentic. We ordered the eggplant and gnocchi dishes which both were very tasty!

The restaurant itself was very nice as was the waitstaff. The place was dead, it was about 4PM on Friday. My husband got a filet and ordered it Medium– it came out well done. I had the chicken dish which was pretty good– not worth the $ though. Ehh, not sure I’d recommend this to anyone since there are a ton of more delicious restaurants in the area.

Way over priced. $ 24 lobster ravioli that tasted like frozen food had only 4 pieces in a plate.

Has a very intimate, relaxing atmosphere, excellent fettuccine and the margherita pizza is outstanding! Also the staff is very nice. Came in just before they closed and they were still very welcoming and didn’t rush us at all.

The best meal we had in PR, bar none! The service was outstanding, thanks to Luis!!! The only thing better than the service was the food… Oh, the food. Everything from the amazing seafood linguine, loaded with calamari, shrimp, scallops & mussels, to the gnocchi, to the fettucini bolognese, was off-the-charts delicious! When in Old San Juan, go to Sofia. You won’t regret it!

Yum! We ended up here one night because of all of the positive reviews on Unilocal. The restaurant itself was pretty nice with cute watercolor paintings of all different pastas(the actual noodles — e.g. spaghetti, penne, farfalle, etc.) on the wall. For dinner, I got the fettuccine with scallops and mushroom sauce and it was phenomenal. The pasta was delicious and well-cooked, the scallops were tender, and the sauce was creamy and rich but not overly heavy. My friends got the seafood linguine, seafood risotto, and baked gnocchi. Everything was really good. My one friend, who LOVES bread, had to flag down the waiter for the complimentary bread, because he forgot it. We also had a pitcher of the white wine sangria to share, which was fresh and delicious, but wasn’t well mixed, as some of us had quite strong portions and others had watery ones. There are two reasons I didn’t give this place a full five stars. The waiter was nice, but not as attentive as I would have liked, considering that the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. Also there was a large party in a separate room that was making QUITE a lot of noise. The doorway just had a light curtain so there really was no sound barrier and though no one actively complained about the noise(though, our table was groaning every time we heard a scream), I feel like it was loud and disturbing enough that the staff should have done something about it.

For pasta in San Juan, I was very happy! We started with fried risotto, average, but tasty in a strange way. We also has the Bolognaise with fettuccine & it was very good. Fresh sauce & pasta made the dish very simple and straight forward… It was cooked properly & seasoned perfectly. The Fillet Risotto was okay, but I think they should add in some fresh alternatives other than the few they have on the menu. Maybe a fresh local fruit/vegi would have made mine better. It was good, don’t get me wrong, & I liked it, but it was very heavy & salty and could only have a few bites before I headed back to the Boloanise… The establishment was clean and well decorated & the service(Christopher) was attentive, informative, and well versed to speak to tourists about whatever questions they had. It did take a little while to get out food, but they did have a 12 top walk in right after we got there & I told the server I wasn’t in a big hurry. Overall, I will return!!!
