Sadly this restaurant has CLOSED down. New owners have taken over the physical address and started a new restaurant called Bajuras Creole… which is a completely different concept than the former restaurant. I was really craving fresh smoothies and a healthy breakfast but when I went El Carey was no longer there.

My husband and I come to Puerto Rico once a year and we just discovered this gem. We went here every morning for breakfast and it was delicious. Everything is so fresh and made to order. Their smoothies are second to none. So healthy, creamy and full of flavor, not to mention they are pretty to look at too!(The owners) Diana and her family are very pleasant and they seem legitimately happy to be doing what they do. They make you feel welcome and greatly appreciate your business. Diana is also an artist and displays some of her beautiful work in a room in the restaurant. Very cool and unique surf art. Now back to the food. The breakfast burritos were mine and my husbands order of choice every morning. We got the bacon egg and cheese and added avocado and one morning we added potatoes that were cooked to perfection. They had really good iced coffee. No crazy flavors which is what I liked about this place. Everything is pretty simple but cooked with care and they allow the natural flavors to shine through. This place is definitely the spot we will continue to come back to every trip to Puerto Rico. If I could, I would give more than 5 stars. I forgot to mention their hot sauce! The hot sauce was so amazing, one of my favorite hot sauces ever. A nice kick of spice but a little hint of sweetness to even it out perfectly.

Best healthy spot on the island. Lunch is great. And breakfast is to die for. All veggies and fruit are always fresh. Reasonably priced and the owners are super friendly. I actually crave eating here every time I have to go back to Miami. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastico. The food is imaginative and delicious. Having said that, the owners/operators are simply wonderful, creative people. From your first visit you will feel a great vibe. You will want to come back.

We had the Jobos Crêpe and the Mangu with Eggs and Bacon. Mangu is a Dominican dish, very similar to our puertorrican mofongo but softer due to the use of more ripe than green, plantains instead of green plantains. The Jobos Crêpe was awesome, very creative. The watermelon fresh juice and Mango Banana Smoothie were perfection. Very laid back. You can go barefoot if you wish.

Went for brunch and had a very good crêpe. I ordered the Jobos crêpe and it was super yummy! And they have fresh coconut water that you drink right out of a coconut for only $ 2! It’s a small super cute place and the staff is very friendly!

My partner had the breakfast burrito, and I had the arepas with eggs and ham as well as the seafood curry bowl. The arepas was delicious and filling — great breakfast food. The seafood curry bowl was amazing — took me a while to figure out the octopus wasn’t hot dogs, but that’s a good thing in my book actually! Also had the fruit smoothie which was amazing — they use whatever fruit they have that day so it’s all fresh. They close early so get there early! My only regret is not revisiting the café!

Solid place for fresh, authentic food. Had a curry bowl with a smoothie and was super satisfied. Came with a group of ten ravenous surfers and they kept our order organized and service was great. Will definitely come back. Make sure you try their homemade hot sauce, not too hot but very flavorful.

Laid-back, affordable, beach spot to fuel up for whatever adventures await you. I had the tropical fish bowl, hubby got the burger. He loved his food. I thought the fish bowl was just alright. Very heavy on the rice and overall too mild/bland in flavor for my taste. The fish was very fresh. Service was nice and friendly, not super speedy. No complaints, I just didn’t fall in love with it. It’s A-OK. I’d go back and try something else next time.

First time in this area and decided to stop in. Friendly staff led us in to the restaurant and were helpful with the menu, which was written bilingual(my Spanish is very poor). Food prices are relatively inexpensive and they have a nice selection of foods. Friend of mine got a smoothie that he said was very good and fresh. Only thing I’ll say is don’t stop here if in a rush… As they say ‘everything is homemade’ so it takes awhile, but it’s definitely worth the wait! I recommend the tropical bowls(I had chicken) and then use some of their homemade sauce(one is hot and one is not). A great place to stop for some fresh, home cooked food!

If Isabela is one of my favorite places in the world, El Carey Café might be one of my favorite breakfast places in the world. On my most recent trip, my buddies & I made a morning ritual of stopping by this roadside spot. Everyday you could find locals & gringos alike sitting outside enjoying the food & the atmosphere. I have never loved a smoothie so much as I did the Mixed Fruit smoothie, until of course, I tried their Acai Smoothie. Super yummy! I was also a huge fan of the Veggie Omelet with Avocado, which came sprinkled with sesame seeds(stealing that idea for my homemade breakfasts back stateside). I also loved the Veggie Breakfast Burrito, and my friends were big fans of the Chicken Longboard Sandwich. The staff and owners were so friendly and helpful when we asked questions about the area(and when requesting more sauce). The house made sauces are to delicious! Especially the lime-y one that come with the tostones — I put that shizz on everything! The«coffee» was a bit small for my NY blood, but in tropical paradise, I didn’t need too much java to get me jazzed up anyway. As I hope to be back surfing the beaches of Jobos soon, I’m sure I’ll be back eating here again :) Quick tip — we came by at noon one day and they were already closed, so be sure to get there early.

Stopped on the way back from Shacks beach and snorkeling. Only open until 230 but we had the tropical plate with chicken and then a vegetarian tropical plate. Food was awesome and the owners are great too. Great local place!!!

I will start this off by saying that I am from California, so we are spoiled with amazing food. The food in PR, in general, is less than spectacular. This place is better than most restaurants I tried in PR. The service here is unreal and their in-house spicy sauce is probably the single best thing I had in PR. I had the oreo pancakes and my family had a variety of other breakfast plates that were decent.

Tremendo desayuno. Pancaques de oreo, tortilla de huevo y batida de frutas. Estuvo super bueno. Buen servicio y ambiente bien amigable. Ah, y ¡la salsa picante esta demente!

We spent a week in Isabela for a wedding and came here for breakfast several mornings, mostly because of the great reviews. It didn’t disappoint! Great food, fresh and loved their«hot sauce» on my yummy eggs. The pancakes were delicious, but be prepared to share because they are huge! The owners were awesome and full of tips of things to do and places to go on the island. Loved it! Can’t wait to come back and be regulars again for another week. :-)

WOWWOWWOW! El Carey is a MANDATORY stop for your Isabela itinerary. Lets start with the food… DEEELISH! Great veggie options for the semi-vegetarian … I tried the veggie egg omelet and the egg, veggie, cheese arepa on 2 different visits. And as far as the Oreo and Banana pancakes… I dont even have the words to describe… all I can say is do not deprive yourself of a food’gasm and make sure you sample these! The coffees were perfectly made, the fresh orange juice was that and more and the staff was absolutely delightful. They have great artwork and apparel on display and for sale. A wonderful locals spot that welcomes tourists just the same. It’s also right in the heart of the beach town and minutes from the wonderful beach itself. I’m wondering how I can convince them to open a 2nd location in Miami Beach :-)
