Fun restaurant! Fajitas are probably the best option, but you really don’t go their for fine dining. Portions are large so order one meal and split. Guacamole is made at your table to your taste. Margaritas are huge. The mariachi group is entertaining, plays requests, 80 pesos or less than$ 5.00US. ‘Sweet Caroline’ or ‘Hey Jude’ are just fun coming from a mariachi group. Price is very reasonable

Yeah, you’re going to be eating with plastic forks and the view is just of cars getting gas. BUTHELLYEAH I WOULDGOAGAIN! These tacos are like Bigfoot. Legen–(wait for it) They are delicious, and so good that when you eat them you can’t believe how good they are. A month later and I’m still dreaming of the delicious tacos. Oh man and the margaritas? Please, may have them directly poured down my throat? I love the flavor, because they aren’t so sugar and syrup as in California. Much lighter with true flavor. Go. Please. Go and eat a taco for me. –dary.

Tasty, tasty tacos at very cheap prices. Between two of us we tried spicy sausage, bbq pork and shrimp. The spicy sausage was my favorite. He bbq pork had the texture of chorizo, not quite the traditional bbq I was expecting. The shrimp was simply sautéed and tasted superb. Also tried the shrimp enchiladas, but they were a tad too cheesy. Will definitely go back if I’m around.

I always have a great time here. Go as a group, pay the mariachi band to play some songs(these guys are entertaining and they know a bunch of English songs), take down a couple of their huge margaritas and order some great food! I suggest the chimichangas.

They have an English Menu! Enough said! If you have a family or bigger group, I recommend the large«big eater» dish as it comes with enough portions for at least 10 tacos! Food 5⁄5 as their meat was freshly cooked AND they sanitize the vegetables! Services was 4⁄5 — great but you’ll have to ask for your bill most likely. I’m not sure if this is just a culture thing or not, but we waited for a good 10 minutes before asking. These guys work hard and produce top notch tacos!

This pepes is definetly a 5 star bomb place. Awesome salsas — all 4. They were medium to extremely spicy. All so bomb tho. Al pastors were next level — top al pastors I’ve ever gotten. Had to go seriously in and get 8. Plus it’s like a dollar for each — get me one of these in LA asap. I would order a couple tacos and literally have them on my table within the minute — the instant gratification was too dope. Make sure u don’t go to the one in downtown tho cuz the one by the marina was not the same — not great service, all the salsas were watered down, and tacos weren’t nearly as hot.

Food: amazing tacos here! I crave these kind of tacos every day! Decent size al pastor tacos for $ 1.25. They serve you grilled onions with them too. Salsa at the table is really good and has a variety of spice intensity. Tortillas were fresh and held up well. Service: great service here. Very helpful and the staff speaks good English. Tacos were made quickly and at perfect temperature. Atmosphere: definitely a smaller place to get food. Not fancy at all. Not busy at all on the day we went. It’s not on the main section of town so you have to walk a little to get here. It was definitely worth it. Most places right on the beach did not have cheap, good tacos like this place.

If you are looking for some authentic tacos in the heart of downtown Puerto Vallarta, this is your place! They BBQ delicious street tacos while you sit and enjoy a cold beer or in my case, horchata. They have free wifi available and will bring you cheese crisps with fresh salsa while you wait for your food. The tacos were delicious. I ordered 3 Al Pastor street tacos and they were prepared perfectly. The meat was juicy and delicious and the toppings were fresh and paired beautifully. The salsas were so good, some hot and some not so hot! Service was very friendly and restaurant was clean. It’s open air, although they don’t have air conditioning, they have fans everywhere. Definitely recommend this little spot to anyone. I suggest asking someone where this is located if you don’t have your wifi turned on. It’s a hidden gem, that’s for sure.

This isn’t just hype. The tacos al pastor are incredible. My husband also tried the fajita taco, steak taco, and an excellent sausage taco. The service was great as well.

If you only eat at one place in Puerto Vallarta, this needs to be it. Pepe’s Taco is SOGOOD. Don’t get discouraged by the rugged appearance. It is run down, but it fills up quickly with locals and tourists alike. The staff here is wonderful and extremely funny. It does not matter if you speak English or Spanish, or both or none. The place is open late, like really late. If you are making your way back to your hotel after a long night of drinking and dancing, Pepe’s will still be open. Stop in and have a taco, or 3. THEFOODISSOGOOD. Once you have a Pepe’s Taco you will be unable to eat tacos in the states for a very long time. Taco Tuesday no longer exists for me. Famous for the al pastor tacos(BBQ pork), it does not disappoint. Tortillas are handmade. The salsas and spices are hot. The beer is cold. What more could you ask for?

Best tacos in PV. Hands down. You have to come bettor you are missing out. Best prices also Food is 5 stars, only thing I will say is it’s quite hot in the restaurant… Dress for warm weather, although I was here in August. So obviously that makes a difference. ** warning We used maps on my iPhone to get here for the first time and it led us to a really sketchy/wrong address. The actual Pepe’s Tacos is across the street from an Pemex gas station near the beach side.

We saw the Unilocal review and so thought we would check the place out. Simple Al Pastor tacos — the way to go. This is as authentic a taco place you can get.

Mmmm… Those tortillas were so good! Their salsa selection was great and even better their grilled onions. Definitely recommend it! I wish I was going back for another round before flying back home.

Good, but not great. Certainly not the best tacos in Puerto Vallarta, like their shirts say. The best thing about this place is their salsas. Also, they are open until 6am. Also in a convenient location. Not all the way downtown. Much closer to the beach hotels than the tourist area restaurants in the Malecon(boardwalk) area. These tacos are by no means bad, just not great like others say. If you’re looking for something quick and close by, go there. The best tacos in Puerto Vallarta are a block or two behind Walmart, at a taco stand. Ask a taxi driver to get you there and I’m sure they’ll know exactly which street they’re on. Obviously only locals will know where the stand is. I have a cousin who lives there who took me. They blow away Pepe’s.

Several people that we met on our first and 2nd day in Puerto Vallarta mentioned about this place and the proximity from where we were staying made us decided to check this place out. The walk there from our hotel felt everlasting due to the heat!(we went there for a late lunch, around 2PM) but we were so happy when we found the place. The restaurant was almost empty, there was a table of two diners that were just finishing up and about to leave. but perhaps it was due to the low tourist season and the«late lunch timing… There were lots of things on the menu that was interesting… but since the famous thing here is their taco al pastor(pork with pineapple), we had to order it and of course we were so happy that we did! The taco was small but they were generous with the amount of pastor meat… The pineapple was certainly a nice touch, perfectly refreshing especially in the HEAT! yummy! I ordered an open face quesadilla-thing the one that had beef, chorizo, pineapple, onions, mushroom and cheese(i think it’s called Japonesa)… hubby got 4 tacos with beef, mushroom and cheese. BOTHWERE very very very delicious but I liked the one with pineapple better because it was a combo of sweet and savory. Different from most tacos in the US, they didn’t drench the food with salsa… they actually gave you containers of salsa, different kinds, and you got to put the salsa yourself. I like the green salsa that had a bit of avocado in it. It was not too spicy(I usually prefer my food to be super spicy) but the creaminess from the avocado really hits the spot! The portion of the food was not too big(although keep in mind that we are both big eaters)… so the two of us shared two open face quesadilla and two el pastor tacos and ordered a coke and a bottle water. we were full but not stuffed. Total was 200 pesos which is pretty good deal for what we got(compared to the US price of course!). If you’re looking for a place to get tacos, certainly check this place out :)

I wish I could have spent more time at Pepe’s but I only had time to grab some tacos to go. I got there not long after they opened and it was pretty quiet. The whole front of the place was opened up and a soccer game was blaring on the TV. Just another Thursday afternoon in Vallarta. I ordered a chicken taco and a steak taco for myself and a chicken and the al pastor for Mr. P. Everything was quickly grilled and put in the to-go container piping hot. Hefty portions of tomatillo and red salsas were also included. We chowed down back at our hotel and I was sorry I’d hadn’t ordered three tacos each for us, not because the tacos weren’t filling but because they were so delicioso. Pepe’s is definitely on our list for our next trip and we’ll dine in next time so we can eat more tacos.

Just FYI, this review is for Pepe’s and NOT Pipi’s. Do not confuse this place with PiPi’s which, while the food is excellent and the portions are huge, is more gimmicky and touristy. Pepe’s is seriously the ecstasy pill of Mexico. It’s one of those gem foodie spots falling into the category of awesome street food that is a destination unto itself and also why mankind invented Unilocal! No exaggeration. If you love Anthony Bourdain, something off the beaten path, or are just looking for all around great no-gimmick Mexican food, GOHERE. It sits across from a gas station and looks completely unassuming(garage-like almost) and yet when you walk by, you can see it is full of both locals(a great sign!) as well as tourists sitting at small card tables. You’re also met with a delicious smoky smell as the meats are roasted and tortillas hit the grill. I can’t really describe what I ate here other than to say that what I’ve been eating my whole life that I’ve been calling a «taco» has actually just been absolute crap. Everything down to the smallest detail tasted completely different(and better) from the avocado sauce to the cheeses… And especially the meats which were seasoned to perfection! I recommend the quesadillas named after Canada(the cheese and chicken one). It was a wonderful meaty flavor topped with fresh onions and cilantro and looked more like a large soft taco than what we Americans think of as quesadillas… We also went for spicy sausage and beef tacos and of course the famous tacos al pastor. Pair with Modelo Especials and you’re going to need to recalibrate all your reviews with this little place as the North Star for a 5 star restaurant.
