This is the best chicken rice I could find in PJ area but they still can’t replace my all time favorite in Taman Midah. This place serves steamed and roasted chicken, pork, wan ton and Sui kow. Just like your usual chicken rice shop. The taste is generally acceptable and it is not very consistent. I like where the restaurant is located, don’t worry about getting a parking spot. Price wise, it is reasonable. I would patronize this place more often when I finally settle down in Ss2.

Ah, chicken rice. The obligatory meal you can get from anywhere, Kar Heong somehow does it better than most of the shops out there. How so, you might ask? Well, one spoonful of the very smooth fragrant rice that they serve will keep you wanting more. There is no other shops that serve chicken rice the same, and their chicken seems to be laced with some sort of glistening freshness that really lingers on your tip of your tongue, and with that said, if you never came here for a plate of chicken rice, you have not eaten a good plate yet. If you really want to come here to enjoy that plate of fragrant chicken rice, do come here during tea time, because there will be lesser crowds and less humans who are eyeing the glorious chicken that is Kar Heong. Just sayin’.

Chicken rice is one of the most common and popular meal in Malaysia and for some it is their staple meals. Even though it is common, it is not easy to master to make it. However, the chef at Kar Heong has gotten the recipe right for their chicken rice and the hor fun. And the restaurant has become one my regular spot for lunch on weekdays. I have been such a regular customer that the lady boss would know what I want before I placed my order. I feel honored that she remembers me or that’s how often I come for lunch. The chicken is well cooked and the sauce that goes with it, is just fabulously delicious. Also, their prawn wantan and pork balls are good.

This place is quite popular among the lunch crowd as their chicken rice and ipoh hor fun are famous here. The double storey shoplot is fully air conditioned as well so you won’t have to worry about sweating while enjoying your meal during the afternoon. Prices here are really reasonable as you can get a chicken rice meal under RM7! Their steamed chicken is the star here as its fresh and served with the traditional black sauce and a hint of sesame oil which makes all the difference. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of their roast pork as i find it not crispy enough so stick to the chicken rice while you’re here. Service is quick like most chinese restaurants and they do not allow spilt bills if you’re coming with a group. Parking here is difficult so you may have to go a few rounds to look for a spot and I’ll advice you to carpool as well. They do the dinner crowd as well until 9pm.

They have every right to be proud of their chicken rice. It is the chicken and pork at Kar Heong that makes it so good. The chicken is usually very fresh. The steamed ones are very silky and soft. Same goes for the roasted ones, but just less silky. Their roasted pork slices are good too. Very crispy on the top and soft at the bottom where the meat and fat is. To top that off, the rice is delicious on it’s own without having to add additional chicken sauce to it, but I still do because the chicken light soya sauce adds a little more flavour to the whole dish.

I like variety in my food, because food can get kind of boring, you know? Unless you;re the kind of person who loves Soylent. #pleasestahp But there’s always one guy who asks me «What if, you knnow, what if, just saying la, what if you had to pick one thing, ooooone thing to eat FOREVER?» #mamakdebates #srsbzns Okay, fine. HYPOTHETICALLY,(and I’m only doing this because you’re my too-much-free-time-and-high-on-caffeine friend) IF I had to choose, I’d go with the Steamed Chicken Hor Fun at Kar Heong in Subang SS14. The noodles don’t clump together, the chicken is tender and juicy, best of all, the soup is bursting with umami and leaves no dryness in the mouth after slurping down the whole bowl. #noMSG Classic, healthy, good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. #perfectanswer

Kar Heong Ipoh Chicken Rice is supposedly famous for their chicken, but I feel that it is too salty and has too much MSG. However, I do love their pork ball, which is something special and different as it’s very springy and has some different meat bits in it. Another thing I like is the fact that the kitchen is outdoor so you can see the chef chopping up the chicken as I find it always a privilege to get the opportunity to see the chef cook. The price is cheap and the food comes fast.
