Meng Kee Char Siew

A little bit pricey but must say good tasting char Siew that melts in your mouth. Cleanliness yet to improved, the floor was all oily.

I was introduced to this place by my other half. Meng Kee Char Siew use to be famous for both char siew (honey glazed pork) rice and char siew wonton noodles. Ever since they shifted to a few doors down, they opened another shop across the road just for their noodles. Hence, now this shop specializes on their rice only. Besides char siew rice, they also serve roasted chicken rice. But most people are here mainly for their char siew rice. I am there for their char siew rice too! I don’t usually have char siew rice but when I feel like having it, it’ll be Meng Kee’s.

To those «non-​halal» foodies out there, welcome to the home of delicious «Char Siew» Rice! It was more than 6 years back since I got to know of this awesome place. This place was also featured in multiple newspaper write-​ups (It is all posted on the walls in the restaurant).
In terms of cleanliness, this place still has room for improvements, but generally they are reasonably clean. Although sometimes the floor will get a little bit slippery due to the «Char Siew» gravy spilled on the floor while «in-​transit» from the kitchen to the serving station located in front of the shop.
This place used to run out of «Char Siew» rice even before lunch hours (Yes, they are really popular!). Good news is that lately due to immensely high demand from the public, they have up the supply of «Char Siew» rice to cater for everyone.
If you plan on coming to try this place out, I suggest coming over earlier to avoid the usual lunch crowd as this place will get really packed all the time. So do arrive early to avoid disappointment.
