My family and I really like dim sum, we would spot out for any new dim sum places wherever we are and then make plans to give it a try. My dad spotted Yuan Garden Dim Sum House while he was looking to buy an office chair for his study room. He told us that he wanted to try it on that same weekend. We ended up going and being in SS2, I thought parking would be a hassle and the restaurant would be packed. However, there were ample of parking and the restaurant wasn’t full but had a moderate amount of customers. We ordered the usual siu mai, har gaw, fried yam cake, char siew pao, prawn chee cheong fun and chicken feet. Personally, all the dishes were just okay but it was all very fresh. What was lacking, was the flavour. Service was good, the staff would take the initiatives to refill our pot of tea and also come by with the food carts to serve us more food.

Yuan Garden Dim Sum House is a place where my mom and I dine in often, especially on weekday nights. During day time and weekends, the place is quite crowded. However, the crowd are not that heavy during evening and night time. It takes some time for our dim sum to be served, but mostly because they would not pre-steamed the food. They’ll steam to order. So, I guess this is really good. The dim sum at Yuan Garden are ok, but I think the Custard Buns are worth trying. The sweet and savoury custard filled with salted eggs — Yummy! If you are going there for dinner, you would be having any issues getting a parking. The shop is located in SS2 behind Lobsterman.

I was craving for dim sum on a saturday morning and decided to check out this place close by. Parking was easy to find since it was a weekend and it was also easy to spot this corner shop. Surprisingly it wasn’t completely packed so I manage to get a table without waiting. Dim sum is still served in carts going round the tables just like the traditional way. I had the usual dim sum fare– siew mai, har gau, fishballs, fried yam cake, chee cheong fun. It was a hit and miss affair as the chee cheong fun and fried yam cake had too much flour but the rest were decent. It wasn’t the best dim sum i’ve had but it wasn’t the worst either. The place had AC fitted inside but it was still quite hot that morning. Price wise its about RM4 per dim sum depending on what you order.
